not too disilimar :)

Great looking, wopuldn't expect less from a GT game, but apart from larger grids, I'm waiting on seeing whats new before I get hyped up over it.

I have to agree with Cobra_UK that the trailer isn't too spectacular. Yes, the cars are updated and look very nice, but they already did in GT4 and to be honest, I don't think I would notice the difference if I see those cars on a traditional tv resolution. I expected they would update the tracks and their surroundings, and by looking at the grass and trees next to the Nürburgring in the trailer, it seems like they haven't updated them at all. Are these still the GT4 tracks because the GT5 tracks are far from finished? I sure hope so. The physics seem identical, no sign of damage yet, no sign of cars getting dirty (not even on the snow tracks), not even weather or some night races...
Waw, we've got an animated pitcrew cheering at our car, not exactly at the top of my priorities list. The best thing about this trailer is definately the cockpit view with a real mirror, though there's no sign of a dashboard or steering wheel with animated hands.

If this trailer is what the final game looks like, we're ****ed. I won't buy a slightly updated GT4. Now what I think (and hope) is that they couldn't show us any of the tracks, damage, physics, etc. because none of these are quite ready to be showed.

I just hope PD still has some pleasant surprises for us in the future.

I hope I'm wrong, but there is no Vision Gran Turismo (GT4 spiced up for PS3). This is GT5, this is supposed to be the next generation GT. This is also not due to be released until 2007 as KY stated. Of course this is if all goes according to plan, otherwise it may take longer.

These 'vision' videos are a series of videos that show you what to expect from GT5, in terms of the cockpit view, bigger grid, more human presence, better lighting - the HDR lighting at Monaco looked great, too bad the video was cut off early ( :dunce: ), and etc, etc.

We should get a proper look at the REAL Gran Turismo 5 at E3 2006 on full PS3 specced hardware. 👍

The Vision videO was the one shown at E3 during the PS3 conference, there is no other Vision GT video, there is no Vision GT game. What we saw was an early WIP video of GT5, simple as.

There's two 'vision' videos.

The one shown at E3 and the new one in this topic from TGS, I expect a third one early next year at the PS3 meeting before they unveil GT5 in its full glory at E3 2006.

Nope, this one isn't a Vision GT video. It deoan't say anywhere it's a Vision GT video and Kaz has already announced GT5, this comes under GT5. Look back to GT1,2,3 and 4, the early vids were simply early GT1,2,3 and 4 vids, don't confuse GT2000 whith GT3, GT2000 was scrapped in favour of GT3.

O...M...G...!!! i came here to ask where i can download inital d episodes, but seeing this, wow, this has replaced that altogether!!! have you seen the picture fo the gt4 audi r8 from the lmes and le mans this year on one of the website links. DAMN IT LOOKS GOOD!!!

what i can say to all you guys that are scared cause you think PD haven't done so much is that they are working maybe 24h/ day and wont stop untill the game is ready... and i dont think they have showed us all they have done so far either!

An how do you know this mate? So far an opinion would be that this could be a GT5 trailer and that's all. ;) I doesn't show much of what is promised for GT5, namely damage but TGS isn't finished yet so we'll see.

I've learned one sad thing about GTPlanet. Most of the things that people imagine will make it in the next GT are nothing but just that, a dream that never materialises. Dream On though don't let me stop you. I sure don't want to bust your bubble or upset the GT fans. But please don't post information on here unless it's accurate and you have facts to back it up.

EDIT: excellent tiptopcream, now you're talking.

Sony seem to think so:

well if that is Vision Gran Turismo, have they started make GT5 then? ahw, i still think this is a concept title... if not, when are they gonna show us GT5?

aghh, like its been said, Vision GT is GT4 running on Ps3 hardware. as soon as they hit a point where theres basically little code of GT4 left, its GT5 :)

Theres no definition of what Vision GT is, the first VGT vid was very obviousely GT4 running on the PS3, this one isn't it's a much nicer graphics engine for a start. We'll just have to wait for more info to surface.

Vision GT isn't even a name, I don't know why everyone uses it in that way. It just appeared in the first video because it showed a 'vision' of what GT5 would be like, there would be more cars on the track and a very active pitlane.

This video again looks like a vision, rather than a game in the works. It shows some highly detailed cars, a highly detailed pitcrew and a hint at a cockpit view. That's it. Nothing new other than that.

I guess that in other videos to come we'll see visions of damage, day/night cycle, weather effects, highly detailed tracks,...

But for now, the only things we can really expect from GT5 are 15-20 or even more cars on the track, a very detailed and active pitlane, nice cars and some sort of in-car view.

i wonder how theyll implement it though. obviously theyll only congratulate you on a podium finish, but what if you were just 4th and passed 3rd just before the line. will the pit crew suddenly appear and start celebrating?? :indiff:

Like most i'm dissapointed with the video, it still looks very GT4 based :-( ,i was hoping for real GT5 action, but oh well....

I know there will be much more to come but that 2007 date will never happen (even PD are keeping stuff from us in this video)

The lighting however is good, and by the looks of the audi screen we have 3D wheels while racing (which was a given, but it should shut up some of the GT haters). Also i think there is a little more to the dash view but it is just obscured by the poor vid quality and heads of others watching it.

They'd probably start celebrating yes, but the animation would be right, they wouldn't not be there, the suddenly they're there and celbrating.

A lot of people are foolishly claiming that it is an early trailer for GT5, but I think that's a bunch of garbage. I personally think Vision GT is a clever way to ensure that the PS3 has a strong racing game as a launch title. I believe it's basically GT4.5 (or whatever you want to call it).

I think it will use the basic structure of GT4, except that it will be subtly upgraded to take advantage of the PS3's amazing power. For example, the E3 trailer showed races with more than 20 on the track at the same time. I also foresee fully animated drivers in the top-down convertibles for all two dozen cars. This also means that the "special cars" (such as the Caterham) may be available for racing on PS3.

And who knows, maybe GT4 was originally capable of environmental time advancement, tire marks, etc., but the PS2 just couldn't cut it. That would definitely explain why it took so long to make. Also, it's very likely that the online version of GT4 is this anticipated release on PS3.

Hopefully Vision GT will also feature realistic day and night lighting for the longer races, and maybe we'll even see dynamic weather changes.

So invision everything you loved about GT4 made better in this next game.

But what I'm really stoked for is the massive resolution improvement. The PS2 is capable of running at 640x400, but the more common 320x200 is almost always used. I have no documentation of what GT4 currently runs at, but it's probably that higher value. So in the next GT, the guys at PD could probably just bump that up so it runs at 1920x1080 (1080i). Perhaps they'd even be able to run it at 1080p. It should scale just like games do on PC, so a jump like that would be absolutely stunning! The result would be Photo Mode-quality, realtime graphics. In fact, it would look even better than Photo Mode.

In addition, the sound should be many times better next time around. I've read that Polyphony Digital took highly detailed sound samples from all the cars from different angles at 1000rpm intervals. Sadly, those samples didn't get used very much in GT4 because the PS2 wasn't able to process them very well. So hopefully the next GT game will benefit from all the data that PD collected.

So that's my theory. I have no way to prove that any of it's true, but it does make a good deal of sense.

I'm in love with all the little details they've added. Like the clear windows on the cars, your team cheering you on, seeing the tire threads on the mazda, the light shining through the Evo's grills, and if this Audi is an ingame screenshot... 3-d wheels!
