GT5 Video From TGS!

I´m downloading from the link on the first post. It took a while to start but the speed is good.

hehe, you guys still on about graphics? Oh come on.

Every time a GT game was released it always brought you the best graphics ever seen on the current console.

The only exception is GT2 but only because GT1 already pushed PS1 to it's limits. Trust me.

GT3 was simply amazing back then. No PC game could get close, and, PS2 wasnt even a powerhouse. And GT4.. simply beatuiful and smooth as hell unlike NFSU2 which is ugly as **** and still framelags like omg. GT4 -More features(much more) yet graphics gotten much better either.

So don't be scared, GT5 will look AMAZING. I've noticed in the video that sometimes it feels like GT4, and sometimes it feels like GT5 - it's pretty mixed up, but the reason is obvious :sly:

I'm also excepting PD to pay attention to special effects. Like skidmarks, dirt, etc.
GT5 is going to RULE, and absolutely kick the competition. And, i'm not a fanboy.. it1s just so obvious. Now, with PS3 hardware, everything's just.. possible.

WOW! I can't believe the negativity this vid is getting from some of you people!! We're supposed to be supporters not critics. I'm seeing all this PGR3 crap and all I can think of is...TRADERS!!! It's not being released for more than two freackin' years. MY GOD! Everyone in GTP seams to have a good head on their shoulders, but some of you mystify me. Why would anyone, in their right frickin' mind, start judging the game at this point. Wait a second...WHAT GAME?! It doesn't even exsist! Some people in here should just relax, observe, and get a grip on what exactly is happening. Who knows what might happen between now and the release?! PS3 offers a world of possibilities that have never been available to developers. Absolutely anything could happen.

Calm down mate, ust a lil tempers flared, but it's all under control. Anyone who has seen the two cars in the vid knows we will be in for a visual treat. But what I'm really interested in is how far PD will take the damage engine, but just looking at the amazing visuals on those two cars alone, I'm itching to see the extent of those physics, they better not lose any courses either.

At last!!! They implemented an in-car view :) ! I was waiting for this since GT1.

The rest of the video doesn't really impress me, but then again, it's probably still in an early stage of the development.

Not implementing damage, proper AI and good sound would be an absolute shame considering the power the PS3 will deliver. But I'm sure PD will sort that stuff out in time. Especially since they're starting to get some competition from other games ( Forza, Enthusia,...).

I belive you! PD know what they r doing and they know what we excpect from them...

Damage - well... that's a hard one. It would be cool. But think. IF there was damage in GT5, there would be much less cars. I think around 200-300. Which is still alot, but also they wouldn't be as detailed. Car manufactors hate it when you can see the weak points of their car .Although i hope that PD will find a way...because for example I really miss damage when racing the F1 car or a rally car. It's just so unreal that you can hit the wall or your oppenent at 250+ km/h and nothing happens.

AI needs to be improved, definetely. I cant even imagine 20 cars on the track with the current AI. Damn, that'd give me nightmares  We need more competitive AI too that's able to keep up with you the whole race, not just till the first turn. Cockpit view itself seems to be great. Although I doubt you'll be able to see the wheel and your hands, though. I dont find that a problem myself. Cuz first of all that'd take alot from the screen, secondly if you got a wheel why see one on the screen aswell? :dopey: 2 another things I really really want is cars picking up dirt( so car wash would be something useful :) ) and skidmarks!! :sly:

This video "Vision Gran Turismo" is a concept movie as a progress report for the GT series making headway to PS3. The Lancer Evolution and the RX-7 in Tokyo International Forum in the first scene are full-spec high-detailed models created for PS3.

The following scene with cars running is a kind of "hybrid" movie in which the modeling data used in GT4 are decorated with PS3 rendering.

The EVO & RX-7 are the only bits of Gran Turismo 5 in this video. Those are the car models we can expect in the final game, the rest of these videos are just GT4 based. As I said before these "Vision" videos are to show you what to expect in the future for Gran Turismo 5, the HDR lighting (decorated with PS3 rendering, rich rendering), cockpit view, larger pack of cars etc, etc.

Sould be an eye opener at E3 2006.👍

well, the graphics on the EVO and RX-7 was the best in the trailer so I'm happy :D

BUT! how long do we have to whait for updates from PD now? to the next E3??? then i am gonna die! :yuck:

Operator, don't worry about damage limiting the number of cars in the game or the detail. Check the KY/PD aiming too high thread for details. Also car manufacturers used to ***** about seeing their products damaged, but they don't really care now they'll just ask for a bit of extra cash and thats it. PD could have put damagein GT4 with all thoes cars, the deciding factor to leave it out was the PS2's capability which wasn't upto the job.

Is there a QuickTime version of this video? Because right now it's basically impossible to play WMVs on Mac OS 10.4.

If there's not, I really have to wonder why...

I think there is a QuickTime version on IGN, check it out.

I hope I'm wrong, but there is no Vision Gran Turismo (GT4 spiced up for PS3). This is GT5, this is supposed to be the next generation GT. This is also not due to be released until 2007 as KY stated. Of course this is if all goes according to plan, otherwise it may take longer.

Now, that's 3 years of development time. And by year one this is all they have?

Real time lighting is something that is hardware dependant and takes hardly any time to code once the 3D model is loaded. Motion captured pit crews is fantastic but still, by today's standards, again nothing too time consuming. 20+ car grids is again a simple programming adjustment and then we have a lot of sprites replaced with 3D models, nothing too hard to do.

So allow me not to be to impressed with the trailer as it shows me nothing special to be honest...

I know there will be a lot of GT die-hard fans saying that this time has been spent on top secret features that will amaze us all when KY/PD are prepared to show us. But realistically since Sony need all the publicity they can get to fight off the XBOX 360's imminent launch I think we've seen the best there is so far.

To put it simply if (VGT does exist in some form or title) and it's this trailer and it will be released at launch of PS3 then PD are geniuses. But if this is GT5 and I won't get to play it until 2007-2008 and it will be as ropey as GT4 was (in terms of missing features we all wanted and numerous bugs and glitches) then games like Forza Motorsport will steal it's crown.

Sometimes you are very rediculous when you say things, this isn't an insult, but you are.

VGT is the "WIP" of GT5. Basically they are adding bit by bit the visual upgrade to the game, from higher poly count car models, the water (the lake we saw) the higher poly count spectators and pit crews, and eventually they will rework the tracks etc.

I don't expect GT5 to come out an be the be-all-end-all of racing sims, however, I do expect it to be visually amazing, and have some good features.

Though I am sure it will have far fewer cars than GT4.

read this again. especially this:

larger pack of cars etc, etc.

does it mean more cars on the track at once or more cars overall?

A larger pack or cars is a largerpack of cars, it's a race term. The number of cars on track ar referred to a pack quite often. It has nothing to do with the number of cars in the game. I'm also prettysure GT5 won't have 700+ cars, looking at the detail they need to model themin it won't be as easy a task as the cars for GT4 were and will as a result take more time. However I expect the Skylines and Lancers to reign supreme in the car counts.

I think the models in GT4 are good enough, if you check out the garage models. And if they aren't, a model simply needs to be tweaked, not redesigned. And damage modelling could be translated to other cars in the family pretty easily, so Gran Turismo 5 could easily have as many cars as GT4, or more. It depends on what Kazunori wants to do as far as focusing in on individual cars, and coding in finicky differences. If he does, then the car count will drop, but it doesn't have to.

am i the only one that went crazy after this small GT5 trailer of TGS 2005? I just wanna see more and more!!! i cant whait to se some damage in trailers/ screens!!!

The car models in GT4 won't do, because you can't do anything with them damage wise. The model itself is a single complete model barring the badges and the doors opening in one or two of them. For PD to model damage like the doors rippping off ect, they need to model the cars differently. Not only that buit wheather the car models in GT4 are good enough isn't relevent since we've already seen two of the models PD are creating, so we already know how much extra detail they are putting into them and they arn't simple 3 day jobs take my word for it.

Err... hrm, it does depend. Two years is only 730 days. Opening a model up and giving it damage sections will save a lot of time. And Kaz let out that they've been working on GT5 for a year already. Plus, it depends on how much work on GT5 was done in GT4. I'm sure whatever GT5 ends up being, we'll all be happy.

I will have to say that video with car parts flying will be a ways off yet. If they had that ready to show, GT5 would be almost complete. I still have this sneaking suspicion though that Gran Turismo 5 is further along than we suspect.
