I am selling gt5 if this aint fixed! A rel let down.
TOCA started last night with 16 people in the lobby, Private Lounge, Standard race quality and no mics. The previous night a 12 person test WITH mics went fine.
First up, Mini Cooper race. We all had a 2 minute black screen, 1 DC and everyone else went fine then, no lag.
TOCA race 1, I got in after 5 seconds, some guys like Akmuq where still stuck after 10 minutes. A restart on lower quality meant no black screen but a to of lag and some people losing performance due to the game breaking glitch.
An open lobby half solved but was more laggy. However we tried NASCAR Nationwide tonight and it was broken in race trim. 51 seconds is around a good lap, maybe low 49's in draft.
Some guys where LOSING speed in the draft. One guy in a Mustang was running 44.0 seconds (around 220mph) with NO draft and no-one else around him, one driver could not get above 130mph.
It's pitiful and should it not be fixed I am retiring from GT5.
nealcropperOur leauge has just been cancelled due to this bug, PD PLEASE FIX THIS!!!!!
Mac KBut according the OP this isn't exactly a new bug, how would you and your league just happen to notice it now? Personally, and I hope I don't jinx this, but I've never experienced this bug and all the rooms/lobbies I've been in recently or have been hosting, nobody has said anything about said bug, now obviously a lot of you are, but my question is, if this is bug that has been around before Spec 2.0, why are you all suddenly noticing it now? Anyone tweet this thread to Kaz? He obviously needs to know about this and everyone's concern about it, that is if he doesn't know already
It's not looking good is it? We have the entire WSGTC Season 3 planned for 16 car grids.Online racing is just pathetic now, it's affected all of my races this weekend. They need to realize people put massive amounts of time and effort into organizing their own race series and the online servers are the most important aspect of the game for that reason.
I don't take part in the GTRA Super GT series or the GTPFIA GT1, but if this affects them it would be a disaster. They've had months of planning, huge entry numbers and even sponsership, all of which may go down the drain. I don't know whether this bug was introduced with a patch but PD need to stop tweaking pointless little aspects of the game and solving real problems.

I never got a response from my last post but, has anyone tweeted this to Kaz or anything yet? It might not be seen by him, but it's worth a shot, or two, or three..
R1600TurboThat and, it would be nice if Jordan could post something up on the news blog. This needs as much attention as it can get.
Right now, any racing series looking to run any races has to limit the room to 10 people, or it just won't work. 👎

It'll be the biggest shame, having something like RSeat offering such an awesome, expensive prize, only to have to cancel it because GT5 doesn't work. probably be the end of sponsorship too. What company is going to sponsor something that might be cancelled due to a faulty game?
I realized today this is nowhere near a new thing.
Just that the more cars are in front of me, the worse it gets. I'd chalked it up to GT5 having grip reduced while in the draft, but it happens even when you're not in the draft.
Since I've been paying attention, it explains a lot of races. Will check some timing from a replay later.
I'm now thinking it is tied into the slipstream settings.
nealcropperdoes anyone know how to contact jordan, so he can post it on the news?
SuperSiciRacing here we come!
iRacing here we come!
Yup.
track autumn ring.
7 players non-fixed host (no-lag)
432kbit/s upload - 547kbit/s download bandwidth during race. (peak)
16 players non-fixed host (lag):
597kbit/s upload - 457kbit/s download bandwidth during race. (peak)
Because non-fixed host is p2p, it looks very suspiciously like the person with an upload bandwidth less then 1-2Mbit could cause lag in a large room.
I am still trying to gather more data, but it is difficult in public lobbies. My recommendation now would be to run fix host mode with a host on a high upload bandwidth connection.
Thank you for the actual data, and I would tend to concur even on those numbers alone. What room quality was that on? (I assume mics were off).
If you have capture data saved, please PM me. It'll be a little while before I can get an appropriate switch home, but I'd really like to analyze the traffic a bit.
