Could this bug be related to visible damage being turned on? I have noticed this bug has only bit me when it was turned on. Sorry if this has been brought up already.

I realized today this is nowhere near a new thing. :(

Just that the more cars are in front of me, the worse it gets. I'd chalked it up to GT5 having grip reduced while in the draft, but it happens even when you're not in the draft. :yuck:
Since I've been paying attention, it explains a lot of races. Will check some timing from a replay later.

I'm now thinking it is tied into the slipstream settings.

TOCA started last night with 16 people in the lobby, Private Lounge, Standard race quality and no mics. The previous night a 12 person test WITH mics went fine.

First up, Mini Cooper race. We all had a 2 minute black screen, 1 DC and everyone else went fine then, no lag.

TOCA race 1, I got in after 5 seconds, some guys like Akmuq where still stuck after 10 minutes. A restart on lower quality meant no black screen but a to of lag and some people losing performance due to the game breaking glitch.

An open lobby half solved but was more laggy. However we tried NASCAR Nationwide tonight and it was broken in race trim. 51 seconds is around a good lap, maybe low 49's in draft.

Some guys where LOSING speed in the draft. One guy in a Mustang was running 44.0 seconds (around 220mph) with NO draft and no-one else around him, one driver could not get above 130mph.

It's pitiful and should it not be fixed I am retiring from GT5.

Online is SO ridiculously broken.

Just tried a shuffle race and it was a complete and utter nightmare. Black screen with the false start notification for 2 mins, then instant penalty at start with no countdown whatsoever. Running in 2nd place out of 6 after first sector with leader right in front of me... game said I was on the second lap and over 1 min behind. 3 cars still stuck at start line.

PD, you fail. Miserably.

I had a sudden boost of speed and hit 215MPH, such a horrible mess.

We had a couple of races tonight. I think we started with 11, and at the first lap I felt the bug a little, but once we were at 10 and the field has spread a little everything was good, and I was even using the T500 RS and not the easy pad option.

Don't cancel leagues, just kick people out :P

Our leauge has just been cancelled due to this bug, PD PLEASE FIX THIS!!!!!

But according the OP this isn't exactly a new bug, how would you and your league just happen to notice it now? Personally, and I hope I don't jinx this, but I've never experienced this bug and all the rooms/lobbies I've been in recently or have been hosting, nobody has said anything about said bug, now obviously a lot of you are, but my question is, if this is bug that has been around before Spec 2.0, why are you all suddenly noticing it now? Anyone tweet this thread to Kaz? He obviously needs to know about this and everyone's concern about it, that is if he doesn't know already.

yea its not a new bug, granted, BUT, it seems that 2.00 or 2.02 has made it a lot worse. Obviously something is going on, and i'm sure if you read the thread, you will agree that online leauges are pointless with this bug around.

Go into the online racing section and read the last couple of pages from 3 or 4 racing series, this is ruining GT5, and I think I might just start playing GTR2/rFactor if the upcoming patch doesn't fix this, it's terrible.:yuck:

Right, it's not "new", it's just been greatly exaggerated in one of the more recent updates it seems.

Tax time is coming fast, and it looks very good that Microsoft and Fanatec are due a new customer.
We did manage a trouble free race today, but what about next week? the week after? One can only deal with it so many times, and to put this in perspective, I had the best race of my life today, and I'm still saying this.
Take that for what you will.

Online racing is just pathetic now, it's affected all of my races this weekend. They need to realize people put massive amounts of time and effort into organizing their own race series and the online servers are the most important aspect of the game for that reason.

I don't take part in the GTRA Super GT series or the GTPFIA GT1, but if this affects them it would be a disaster. They've had months of planning, huge entry numbers and even sponsership, all of which may go down the drain. I don't know whether this bug was introduced with a patch but PD need to stop tweaking pointless little aspects of the game and solving real problems.

It's not looking good is it? We have the entire WSGTC Season 3 planned for 16 car grids.

It'll be the biggest shame, having something like RSeat offering such an awesome, expensive prize, only to have to cancel it because GT5 doesn't work. probably be the end of sponsorship too. What company is going to sponsor something that might be cancelled due to a faulty game?

I never got a response from my last post but, has anyone tweeted this to Kaz or anything yet? It might not be seen by him, but it's worth a shot, or two, or three..

That and, it would be nice if Jordan could post something up on the news blog. This needs as much attention as it can get.

Right now, any racing series looking to run any races has to limit the room to 10 people, or it just won't work. 👎

track autumn ring.

7 players non-fixed host (no-lag)

432kbit/s upload - 547kbit/s download bandwidth during race. (peak)

16 players non-fixed host (lag):

597kbit/s upload - 457kbit/s download bandwidth during race. (peak)

Because non-fixed host is p2p, it looks very suspiciously like the person with an upload bandwidth less then 1-2Mbit could cause lag in a large room.

I am still trying to gather more data, but it is difficult in public lobbies. My recommendation now would be to run fix host mode with a host on a high upload bandwidth connection.

Exactly, absolutely everything just collapses because of a faulty and unreliable online service. I really hope this gets sorted for your sake 👍

ICGTC is considering delaying our start to season three after, what was supposed to be our first race of the season was almost literally undrivable due to the lag.

We've had this problem a couple of times in the past, but very rarely and it was usually fixed after a restart or two of the race, but to echo what everyone else has said, the latest 2.02 patch has seriously exaggerated this bug, I've noticed it in every race that has over 11 people in it since the patch.

I still think Boost has it hand in it, 220 MPH in not even posable with draft in the series I'm in. But it happened.

He has an account on here simply under the username of Jordan, shoot him a PM if you want. Famine and Slipstream also post regularly in the News, so it might be worth a shot to either or both of them as well.

Thank you for the actual data, and I would tend to concur even on those numbers alone. What room quality was that on? (I assume mics were off).

If you have capture data saved, please PM me. It'll be a little while before I can get an appropriate switch home, but I'd really like to analyze the traffic a bit.

Room quality I believe was high, mics were on. I did not create the rooms so I could not control it as much as I would have liked. I have a league race Monday night and may be able to get some data with 14-16 players in a controlled setting.

Going to collect more data as I can now that I have a working method. I am not capturing the data in a detailed form.
