GT5's >MISSING< Tracks & Circuits [Moving on to GT6]

-> Hello everyone! Been very busy lately (2 jobs & stuff)...

Christmas baking - Test Course! :D

dsc01508bw.jpg
^ Good one mate! 👍

I believe that's something Polyphony did themselves, I don't think we'll be getting such version of Madrid.
^ It was made by PD. Thus qualifying it as an Original Track, the way the FR-S looked thru the vids isn't a completely CG effect, but as an actual footage (although spiffed-up). ;)

You know, I've been thinking more about this thread a bit. I'm actually saddened that some of the World Circuits in Gran Turismo 4 haven't shown up in GT5. For one thing, I would have loved to take the NASCAR Cup cars around Infineon Raceway. Think about it- GT5 has stock cars, GT4 had the Stock Car version of Infineon Raceway. But the track isn't in GT5! Also, NASCAR raced in some Exhibition racing around Motegi Superspeedway back in 1996. It would be a third oval to race on for the NASCAR stock cars.

So you could say I've been a bit saddened not to see the Infineon Raceway tracks (Stock and Sports Car) and the Twin Ring Motegi tracks.
^ This isn't new IMHO.

- In GT2: We had TWO (or THREE) dedicated drag cars in game, but with no drag racing course!
- In GT3: We had (my most hated) Escudo PPRC, but with no Pikes Peak course!
- In GT4: We had few NASCAR-qualified tracks, but with no NASCAR-spec cars around!
- In GT5: We have NASCAR-spec cars, but with fewer NASCAR-spec tracks!

:indiff:

How did I get from pod racing to GT5 Nascar? Damn Youtube.
^ Hmm, I wonder. It works well on my end...

BT -> I thouroughly re-arranged, re-configured, and re-named the whole list and added these babies:

Madrid Open Version
imager.php

Driving Park: Gymkhana Course 'Maze'

^ If YouTube window doesn't show up: http://youtu.be/YJ4dFQG-7w4

^ And after recounting the list, it jumped to 106 Tracks that are >MISSING<!!!

Wow, I didn't realize that its the new year and our dear leader is dead. :boggled:

Anyhow, its already 106 tracks missing!? HOLY WATER BUFFALO!!

That Maze track looks as amusing as that Pod track! Too bad the authorities can't import GTC and GT4P... :indiff:

PD should listen! :grumpy:

After waching the latest NSX video... the test track, is there... of course is not what we were expecting at 1:42... take a look

^ I do assume from the NXS (ie. NSX) video that I just watched that the Test Course '10s is again present from the Spec 2.0 video. ;)

^ I also saw a glimpse of a 7000m mark (!!!! ) of the Test Course '10s by the cargo freighter ship and on the horizon an 8000m mark is not that far ahead (!!!!  ). Meaning to say that the Driving Park Test Course '10s will be the first PD-developed track that will feature a true high speed track, which each straight section will likely stretch out up to 11000m!!

acura-nsx-concept-gt53-640x360.jpg

^ Speculation: The 10000m at the end of the video is located by the 'PDI Line' cargo ship. And the odd-ball tower on the far right.

-> The track on 1:42 on the other hand is somewhat of an oddity because of PD's camera angle, it is Spa thou. PD showed these tracks in the vid:

In no particular order
- High Speed Ring '00s
- Suzuka Circuit
- Nurbie North
- Cape Ring series (reverse configuration)
- London
- Driving Park: Test Course '10s
- Spa

EDIT: According to the news at the GTP's main page, there might be a second track....

acura-nsx-concept-gt510-640x360.jpg

acura-nsx-concept-gt511-640x360.jpg

^ In my opinion, I believe this large satellite dish above is on the other side of the track on where the shipping stuff are located. Why? Remember this odd-ball structure?

acura-nsx-concept-gt57-640x360.jpg

^ On the satellite dish pic, if you have a very keen eye...that odd-ball tower is visible on the far horizon, on left part of the pic.

-> So the speculation about the second track is false and its still part of the pending-for-DLC Driving Park: Test Course '10s. :)

You are right Vanishing, it IS Test Track.
I agree with you when you say the satellite dish might be on the other side, it would make sense since the car is going on a banked corner.
It would also explain why this track shows in the spec 2.00 intro during sun rise, and now at night. that tells us it will most likely have time change.

I've also noticed something else...

acura-nsx-concept-gt53-640x360.jpg

If you follow the road, you'll noticed that it banks to the right, a very long bank corner leaning to the odd-ball tower.
Also, notice how the road merges with what seams to be water, that's in fact a section of the track that isn't finish yet, as there's no rails, no details, nothing but line drawn on that section. The track isn't completely rendered into one solid complete track yet, but they do have sections of the track (think of it as a scalextric track). Leading me to believe, that they are just using this track purely for the sake of making the video look awesome.

Well in the Spec 2.0 intro, Test Track '10 looked very barren, with only the road, barriers, and cars present. Now that they added scenery... Well let's just say that they're not yet complete with the track yet but a good portion is already modeled out so they're able to stage out the NSX Concept for the trailer using this track. I got high hopes; it's a little off-topic but it would be really, really great if PD remembered to put again the 1/4 mile sprint, full mile sprint, all those testing stuff that can be done on the Test Track like in the previous installments of the Gran Turismo series.

I was about to post the 8/10km length evidence, but you beat me to it! It seems to me to be more in the vain of SSR7 than the test course, (SSR9 seems like a nice fit!) given the track gradients and scenery, although it does seem to have the obvious oval shape.

This just came to my mind...
The harbour in the background, could it be the "same" harbour used in GT5 Prologue? I remember ever time there was a new car added to the game, they delivered the cars in a harbour. Will look for videos of this...

This is the only footage of the harbour that I can find, I swear there was more though.
Harbour at 15 seconds.

While I'm at it...what happened to the parking lot used in the intro for GT5 Prologue (and the FT Concept video) (0:22)

And the wind tunnel used in so many videos before...(0:07)

I believe this locations (along with the test track and many others) were just used for show, not an actual project to be included in the game sadly...

...notice how I used the videos of the 3 FT concepts heheh :dopey::dopey:

Darn, I was hoping the night tracks shown were a new Special Stage: Route (insert number) or something. The long straights I was gonna say were the Wangan Line off the Shutoku Highway System. :indiff:

I've had another look at the Test Course/SSRX, and it 'appears' that around 13 lights equates to 1km, and that landmarks seem to fall roughly inline with km markers. I've had a go at trying to map the track, but I'm so far unsuccessful. However, a rough estimate as to the distance of the track...

8km Numbered Straight x2
0.5km Runoff Straight x4
3-4km 180 curve x2 (Assuming camera is at ~halfway, and structure is ~quarterway round)

=24-26km.

I think PD have been working on it for some time, but given it's exposure (especially post Spec 2) I think it's fair to say it's coming. As for the other tracks, I think they might eventually surface, perhaps reworked.

I doubt it is that long, the banked curves appear to be much shorter than 3-4 Km.
It's probably around half that number.

Nice analysis:tup:
Just a theory... 23km+- 5km
Wich is the total lenght of Complex String?
A new type of "new classical track"?

@Deko Wolf-GTPT
Yes they only showed bits of those "tracks" nothing so detailed compared to this...
I hope PD is teasing us with new things to come.

Update II:
Or maybe they could be teasing us for a full GT experience for GT6, of course it is still to early to say something regarding this subject

I'm confused. Maybe it's longer than 12-14 Km as I thought, after all.
Also I have a feeling it might not be just a simple oval.

I can't wait for some new tracks! If they do ad the test course then I hope they add the Machine test 0-400 and 0-1000,etc. at least!

I just want to know when they plan on releasing some new DLC? I'm guessing it won't be until the GT5XL is released,or shortly there after.

Personally I was/am hoping for El capitan or more "raceable" tracks.

I think PD have been working on it for some time, but given it's exposure (especially post Spec 2) I think it's fair to say it's coming.

One thing I notice is the amount of background detail and features (i.e: the cranes, ships, etc) on this Test Course is a lot greater compared to the Test course in GT4

Test course GT4

Test course GT5

Thanks SHIRAKAWA Akira 👍

I agree, I don't think there's enough evidence yet to fully suggest an oval shape, the fact that they've used gradients too I think detracts from the idea of a 'scientific' test oval. That said, the angle of the banked turn should be at least 150 degrees, (from the far side the tower seems to be placed at ~30 degrees to the horizontal, and the turn continues after that, leading me to think that the banked turn is at least 180. We haven't seen much of the other side of the track, whether that leads to a hairpin or not I'm not sure. It could be probable given the width of the outside tunnel leading into the harbour.

I think it was also in the GT5 Prologue Spec III intro:

If you're familiar with the TrackMania games, this new-age Test Course kind of reminds me of the Island tracks in the TrackMania series. Only of course... no stunts like loops, turbo pads, jumps, and stuff like that. I take back what I said in the "GT5 Latest News and Discussion" post if this ends up being a real course we can download.

-> Looks like in the end, its a completely new course. :)

I've made a video containing only Test Course excerpts from the new Acura NSX concept movie. It's in HD format:

^ Route X in Spec 2 vid is like Eiger Path in GTHD & SSR 7 in GT5, pretty much an unfinished track build. This Route X on the other hand is more a complete build and better executed compared to the ultra-dull SSR7.

^ PD probably did because of the sheer scale of the track, plus PD has to spiff up the track since its a video not an actual game footage. ;)
