GT5's >MISSING< Tracks & Circuits [Moving on to GT6]

^ Actually according to the GT5P video, the Eiger isn't accessable by car. So PD did its magic by turing from a walking (hiking) path into a road/rally course.

I was aware of that when I mentioned it in my previous post.
Really enjoyed that video from 5 Prologue :D
But what I meant was, the track was originally for rally cars only, there's no way you could drive a formula or GT car with the track on those conditions, well, you can, but it wouldn't be very comfortable, and maybe the manufactures wouldn't like it.

So it was redesigned to accommodate more types of cars.
I really like the track, what I don't like is the pits solution they came up with in GT5. I mean...that's a long way to go just for a pit stop! :boggled:

^ Sure PD (or otherwise T10) will find some loopholes to counteract some licensing on certain companies (ie. Tobacco & Liquor). One way to do it is either leaving it blank, or replace it with a relevant logo/product placement. Just look at Tsukuba (by the 2nd hairpin, PD/GT logos deleted on FM4) between FM4 and GT5 or even the Peugeot 908 (PS logos deleted on FM4).

-> But PD is more lienient to the matter (Konami logos on Fuji or Suzuka & Sammy logos at Fuji), unless someone reacts to it (Piazza Track).

What was wrong with the Piazza Track? Did the pope complied or something?

The Konami logo was also in the Fuji 90's.
Removing the Konami logo was more of an updade to the track rather than licences issues, since now the Konami logo was replaced by SEGA in Fuji.

It's understandable if they removed alcohol and tobacco companies brands from the cars. Even if it makes the classic Delta look a bit ugly with that black stripe. :crazy: I haven't seen that Peugeot 908 in FM4, but the PS logos do make up most of the car color scheme, removing them should make the car less appealing...no? :dopey:

On a side note...GT2 had a clever way of dealing with sponsors. Have you noticed that the sponsor panels around some tracks change every time you enter? Sure they repeat in the same pattern, but you'll never see the same sponsor on the same place twice. :sly:

^ The problem lies with the 'authenticity crowd' sure, a percentage of people will be offended, but core gamers would like Imola to be included.

-> IF EVER the Polyphony F094/S AND Imola was featued in GT at the same time. Most likey the Imola that will be be featured in GT will be the most recent configuration and not the 1994-spec on when Senna was killed, since Imola was extensively redone after that incident.

^ That would be the Eiger Trail from GTHD Beta and the Eiger Path from GTHD. I also noticed based on my experience between GTHD and GT5P (note, this was way before GT5 was released), that Path (GTHD) was narrower, bumpier and sharper than Nordwand (GT5P/GT5). Thus making Path more fun to drift around compared to Nordwand. And I would imagine Trail would be a doppelgänger version of the Gunma/Gunsai Cycle Sports Complex from Best MOTORing/Hot Version. :)

^ Nordwand is I think in my opinion boring overall, especially after flogging Path for hundreds of miles during GTHD. And yes, I agree that the Pit Lane at Nordwand is pretty stupid (long). :indiff:

Also, what's up with those Arcade Mode Version tracks from GT1? The only significant difference I can see is that jump on Autumn Ring. I want that.
 
UPDATE w/ LONG POST -> Alrighty! Slept (very) late last night, but I've discovered some interesting facts about SSRX and DPRX. Read on for details. ;)

I must point out one thing though. That super duper banked corner has warning signs on the top (and I'm not talking about the "end of cant"), you can't read them because you can only see the back, but it has the same texture and 3D model as the pit sings.
^ I bet the 650m loop signs would be the same thing as the 'END OF CANT' signs on the 450m loop, since they're imposible to get a decent shot. Unless some hacker can work something out and do something wacky. 👍

Another thing, this might be silly, but I'd like to see what you think of it.
The original banked corner (that connects these sections), when driving normally, I noticed a big structure that covers the entire right side of the track. From when you leave the tunnel (satellite dishes), until you reach the pit area. This might be a service access road. ;)

^ As you can see on these images over the wall, the whole thing is one big gigantic water resovoir! So sorry, no Driving Park facility here. :(

-> And while were on topic here, there is no way that Complex String will reside here because that track is too massive to be confined within these walls. ;)

The start/finish area has in total 4 open lanes for roads, and other two, in total 6 lanes/tunnels all numbered. The last two (5 and 6) don't seam to have anything in it, which makes me think this area might have been an old docking bay for boats to perform repairs. Get what I mean? :)👍

SO! There I was, playing old GT games just for some nostalgic moments. I pop in GT Concept, watch the intro (amazing stuff), when I start thinking to myself...

"hmm...that location looks like the Geneva Airport" A place that I have been to. But then, the car chases down the Airplane down a highway road over water....HANG ON! The Geneva Airport roads have no water. Not even close!
And the it kicked! That could be the Airport in SSRX! :dopey: :drool:

Well, it's a looong shot, but just the thought of it blew me away!! :dopey:

That Deep Forest looks amazing. I guess they wanted to recreate a mountain public road, but because they didn't had anything like that yet, they just retouched Deep Forest and made it look all pretty for the Japanese intro. :drool:

It is not Deep Forest on the GTC closing video, although it somewhat resembles it.

To me it always looked like some generic twisty public road, nothing more. But WCDF would be damn glorious.

yeah the straight lit tunnel just didn't make me think of DFR - but the overhead looking down shows a track with a centre line.

Probably just a quick cobbled together track for the annimation

My initial thought was Trial Mountain, too. Having thought about it (better late than never), I remember these videos being heavily (over-) analysed back when the concept games were released... Naturally, it was decided that the track could not have been any existing one, although it is of course somewhat reminiscent of Deep Forest.


Still waiting for the promised "all [cars and] tracks from previous Gran Turismo" to appear; and yes, with weather and time change on all of them. Please. :)

Good work with the thread although it make me sad to see all these awesome tracks and not have them in the game. If all these tracks plus all the cars taken out from previous GT's were added to the game, no words can descibe how awesome that would be. Probably not gonna happen but one can dream though

Wow what a great post. Imagine GT6 if it is not going to be for the PS4 but maybe for the PS3 and they announce that it will include all tracks of the previous GT series.

I´ll cry.
 
it isn't as bad as it sounds. There aren't 113 tracks missing in GT5 but rather 25.

First, those are 43 if you count every single one but removing altered, killed off, seen on videos (with the exception of the stelvio pass), hidden and possible variation tracks, since those shouldn't come back for obvious reasons.

Then you can also consider more factors and make it 29 or 30, which are counting the whole track as only one and not its variations (that's simply cheating), not considering circuits that were replaced by the brand new versions (not only some small layout changes) or replaced by the new and comparable versions, which happened for other reasons such as rebranding,

Finally, the list goes down to 25 missing tracks without considering those that only were included in games released before GT4. No one can reallistically be expecting an obscure gt2 track in gt6 really.

IMO this is the proper missing tracks list, tracks which therefore PD could and should consider adding in GT6 or in GT5 as DLC: apricot hill, cathedral rocks, valencia (like anyone likes that circuit irl, lol), citta di aria, amalfi coast, driving park (debatable but still), gymkhana blank, motorland, el capitan, george v paris, grand canyon, hong kong, ice arena, infineon, las vegas drag strip (debatable since it doesn't bring much to the table), mid field raceway the second, new york, opera paris, piazza del campo, seoul central, swiss alps, tahiti maze, twin ring motegi, seattle and the stelvio.

As a reference, gt5 has 45 tracks
