I wish the 2000 Ford Mustang used this for the new sound. I love the sound of it in Ford Racing 2 & have for many years. The first 5 minutes of the video show this car. Not what it has now. The old sound sounded mean and & angry in Gran Turismo 6 not the new one that replaced it. The new sound is to calm for this car & it sounds like the 2007 Mustang now.

10 minute races with weak boost to keep it interesting. May change regulations throughout the night, I don't know.

Don't know if mentioned but does anybody notice a change in the Trans Cammer Mustang? It sounds different from when I last drove it but can't confirm.

Didn't they hire the guy that did the forza sound recording? btw the cars still sound like crap and need a total overhaul.

They hired Mike Caviezel: the guy who did a bit of sound direction (after doing a bit of junior design work etc.) on the Forza series at various levels of the sound system hierarchy, before overseeing sound direction for Microsoft games, before starting his own consultancy on sound direction. Before all of that, Mike did practically everything to do with game sound on various games at different times, and started out with music and sound effects production.

He'll probably have been hired because of his influence on the early Forza games, or at least the parts he was responsible for, and because he can lead and direct a team of sound designers, backed up by his broad technical experience. This team will likely be a new team, based in the US, to supplement the existing sound team; probably simply to get more content out the door.

Nick Wiswell oversees the recording, or at least did, on FM4 - he came from Bizarre Creations, they who made the Project Gotham games (and some of my favourite nostalgia ticklers: Wiz'n'Liz, F1 '97 etc.)

As mentioned, the overhaul will most likely come with GT7, and PD have been playing with bits of that system in GT6 already (VGT cars etc.)

I've recorded some via my Elgato game capture HD (it's going to be video about the 1.21 update and the changes), i'm now just waiting for the right time to borrow my friend's PS3 with Digital copy of GT6 so i could compare them between them. I could just include clips of the cars with new sounds without including the old one's but i guess no one would want me to do that.

Well, I've got plenty of footage prior to 1.21 (Mostly of the VGT cars) so I got the Aston Martin DP100 video if someone needs it.

To me it sounds like they heavily tweaked some existing sounds and replaced others with existing sounds, i'm not sure about sounds being completely replaced with new ones.

That is highly unlikely, given the file size of this update. Therefore, it would almost have to be processing filters placed against existing sound files of same car, or replacing one car's sounds with that of another. No other way that our downloaded update would be so small AND still have four new track locations etc. etc.

Listen to the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI RS T.M. Edition, and the 88 Supra. Those sound pretty good. Not sure if they sound a lot different than before, but the Evo as a nice exhaust not, and a nice whine from the turbo in third person view, just pay attention.
Everyone saying the sounds are worse, I could agree in some cases (430/430 Scuderia or example, with their sound replaced with the same as the 458), but in these cases this could be just a mistake made by them, since the sound itself is the same than it was before.

And we have to understand that there is a difference between realistic sounds and good loud sounds... You can't expect to have a Golf GTI to sound like it has some crazy aftermarket exhaust system...

You can add the Shelby Series One Super Charged to the list, it's got the same sample as the C4 Grand Sport.

A few pages ago I posted a video out of the moment that the sound of the 90s Subarus have changed to my dismay.

The classic "Boxer Rumble" is gone in favour of a more inline 4 cylinder sound.
It's the sample that's always been used for the '05 Impreza.

I agree with you big time! This is something I love PD implements. I have a mildly tuned Miata, but its loud and you can here that its tuned. When driving for example my stock BMW 1 series it has a good sound, but you can tell it's stock. Comparing it to my less HP Miata the Mazda sounds so much louder and obnoxious lol. I applaud PD for this makes you realize when your in a tuned vs Stock vehicle.
