Apart from the usual cleaning and repeated trying there is some you can do but don't blame if it messes up the ps. Although I've done it myself. You've to take the ps apart to get at the lens Using a cotton bud only, using warm water gently wet the bud then gently touch the touch lens let it air dry. I've done this but would only recommend it as a last resort.

Mine was refusing to read discs about 2 years ago, its usually a problem with the lens being worn out, or dust on it. opening it up and dust it off might help, but beware, it can be a pain in the a** getting it together again (the reader unit) I got pissed off and threw it into the wall and went to buy another broken PS3 (yellow light) used on ebay for £10, took the entire reader from that and moved over the PCB card, its worked fine since then.
I think that is the best solution, but it may take time to get hold of a new reader.
It is possible to just buy a new lens, but you'll have to be an engineer to be able to replace it
