Hey all

I was just wondering if anyone from Auckland is heading to the Armageddon Expo this weekend. I think they're holding another competition similar to the one they had when GT5 was released. So there may be some sort of beta version?

There was already an Australiano Expo/Game Show thing. Isn't New Zealand practically Australia?

Flight of the Conchords. Wooooo!

In other words, please let there be some insight in this. I didn't know New Zealand had an event for gaming in all honesty.

hahha Thank you, fellow members. I hope there are people in New Zealand to collect...any kind of DNA..........of GT6 this time around :D. After all, I remember (one month ago) what some people were thinking about the Brazil Game Show. BUT, let's hope NZ will have Flight of the Conchords! :D Seriously!!!

I wonder if Bathurst will be there. Hopefully we can get some better quality vids before release date.

I certainly wouldn't expect anything new emerging from an Expo in Auckland.

We expected and were promised something big at TGS and were disappointed. We expected nothing at the BGS and were pleasantly surprised. Auckland? All best are off at this point, anything could happen. I wouldn't be surprised if it was an Aussie V8 car lineup reveal!!

Even though there was a lack of expectation for BGS, Brazil is still a huge market and they announced content related to a man who is an integral part of Brazil's sporting history as well as being a household name as far as motor racing is concerned.

New Zealand on the other hand is a tiny market, and they don't have any internationally renowned circuits or household-name drivers. It isn't a premier event for the gaming industry and PD would not maximise exposure for any features they announce by being there.

Sorry bud, your response makes plenty of logical sense, but you can throw logic out the window. Tokyo Game Show logically was the place to flesh out more details of the game. Kaz's home turf and all that. Instead we got bupkus so obviously they aren't following any kind of logical script. We'll have to wait and see what happens, you're probably right, but you never know with PD.

The thing is, sales have gone down for GT with each iteration and sales for portable gaming have gone up (in Japan). Nobody who's a hardcore sim racer on GTP seems to want another mobile GT so there's that and nobody wants PD to waste their time on projects that don't suit their interests (which Tourist Trophy fits the criteria of, even though there are a lot of people that would like to have it implemented into the GT series at the very least).

Edit -

With that said, I forgot to mention that Kaz DID say there would be more info. about the "livery editor" at TGS among some other things. It was unfortunate, but did he mention at E3 or Gamescom that he'd be in Brazil for an appearance or that Bathurst would be announced WITHOUT his appearance? Just a reminder.

Also, if it weren't for some leaks here and there and at E3, we wouldn't know about some things that still have yet to be announced and that haven't been hinted at.

haha I just realized that you thought I was serious. Aww.

Italians make the best Automobiles....period!
Either way, Eye-talians arguably don't make the best automobiles for the thousandth time.

Sir Harris makes a great case for you, though.

Hey guys. Went there today at the request of my friend who wanted to splurge money on cheap games and anime DVD's. As you can see from the photo below the venue they've used for the last couple of years was at the absolute limit of capacity so waiting in lines was the story of the day for the whole day. Ventilation was also an issue, it was crazy hot inside all the halls.

Got to have a go at the demo and it had the new Bathurst/Mt. Panorama circuit running the Nismo GT-R GT3 car. Got approx. 6 laps in total from three tries on the two pods they had. The sheer volume of people just put me off from getting any footage of anything in there.

First impressions of the circuit was good. Physics of the car was more or less the same as previous demo builds that had TCS, SRF, ABS and a whole load of G25 settings that just soften the feedback of the wheel to stop people from destroying them.

In saying this; essentially if you're pretty handy in GT5 you'll be pretty handy in the latest demo builds of GT6. I probably won't return in the remaining days of the expo this year after my experience there today. Hopefully the guys who turn up there tomorrow get a little bit more luck 👍.

There's a free copy of the full GT6 up for grabs for the fastest time of the weekend so there's a bit of an incentive to still get some details/footage/gameplay on the new demo build.

Auckland, oh dang it! If it were Christchurch I could've and would've made the trip. The Christchuch Armageddon isn't on until March next year so that's pointless. :(

Umm, isnt Bruce Mclaren(RIP) a New Zealander?

You mean the highly successful F1 driver and the founder of one of the greatest motor racing constructor outfits in the history of the world with 31 top 3 world title finishes and 8 World Championships? The guy whose Can-Am cars won 20/23 races from 1967-1969? That guy?

Denny Hulme was pretty handy, too, from the same era.

Of course, the "size of the market" means nothing, as it turns out, since we got naff-all at TGS! :P

Nice to see more than just the usual suspects getting some attention, though. Perhaps it's always been the case, but now our attention is drawn to it more because of the lack of info at "the big one".

Oh man only a game copy for the fastest of the weekend? Was hoping it would be like last time - game per day and game/wheel for the weekend.

Anyway I'm planning to go on Monday.

If you want me to check any particular tracks/details let me know and I'll try to get video/pictures.
