I don't think it's weird, for me feels more organized than throw a bunch of cars out of nowhere saying "I want this!!".
And it's also a good idea for future DLCs, with packs from each brand it's better than have random cars in a pack like in GT5

I loved how I would go into a Shift 2 lobby with the Falken Tire Porsche and everyone else would have the Veyorn fully tuned. I could be on Monza or Ebisu, and I would still win.

Definitely, I wouldn't care just as long as the car is there. Its my favorite Supercar, and its faster then then the Veyron and I would die for a Veyron killer. It also holds the fastest car in the world record as well.
