I scrolled through the first couple pages of replies and didn't see you answering the question of "Why would you want it to be?" That's a
very good question. I mean, if GT is a good thing, shouldn't we be wanting more of it? I'm not sure why GT fanboys have grown so happily accustomed to waiting a very, very long time for these games, and acting like
not waiting half a decade is somehow a bad thing.
I don't want to wait PS4 to play GT6. Make GT6 for PS3 and then work on GT7 for PS4
Real GT fans would be sharing similar sentiments. GT5 came out in 2010. It's time for a replacement already. We're not
supposed to wait for half a decade between installments.
I totally agree, the ps3 is at its limit with gt5, gt6 would be no better than gt5 is now! How could it be?
There's plenty of room for improvement. If you'd get out and play other racing games, you'd know this.
1) 500+ Premium cars, like FM4 (not counting FM4 DLC that followed; just the launch list). PS3 has no limitation to how many Premium cars can come with the game. They could have two-thousand Premium cars if they wanted to, and if disc space was a problem they can use a second disc, or a third disc, and have the player install those cars from the other disc(s). It worked fine for Forza, which was on DVD.
2) Updating all the tracks to look like they're running on PS3, rather than several looking like a PS2 game. Tracks like Trial Mountain are particularly offensive, and Laguna Seca is showing its age. Again, there's no hardware limitation here.
3) Update the menus so that they're faster and more logical, without needing to bounce around confirming half a dozen times (yes, GT5 had an update that sort of improved that a bit) and not configuring the menus so that they look as though intended to be clicked with a mouse.
4) Livery editor. PS3 has no hardware limitation here.
5) Something like Forza's Storefront. Again, no hardware limitation here. Allow me to share with several million players and also allow me to share more of everything, like with Forza.
6) Allow me to save race replays as videos. Forza does. Are we suggesting PS3 can't do this?
7) More car upgrades and more tuning options. Again, Forza has this. Nothing about PS3 limits this.
8) Better rain. Even PGR4, which came out several years earlier on 360, has better-looking rain, and the rain in F1 2010 and F1 2011 makes GT5's rain seem last-gen, not just in terms of aesthetics but stuff like how rain is deeper in some spots than in others (effecting grip differently), how the track can be varying degrees of wet, and how a dry line can form on a wet track, not just visually but also felt by the player.
9) Rubber-in and marbling. F1 2010 did it, so there's no reason PS3 can't do it for GT6.
10) Qualifying and flags. Once again, no hardware limitations here.
11) More control in Course Maker. Really, this isn't as difficult as some people make it sound. We don't need polygon-by-polygon control; just more control.
12) I almost forgot to say "more tracks". Once again, this is simply a matter of disc space, which isn't a problem. Even if they can't get it onto a single disc, they can always go to disc two and have us install it.
Did Polyphony Digital used up all of the Blu ray disc space, like up to 20-25gb? And if they do make a "GT6" on the PS3 then they can select the dual layer upgrade for the game, 50gb.
FM4 had no problem squeezing more content onto two DVDs, so PD should have no problem with disc space, but if one disc isn't enough they can always use two, three, or ten, and just have the players install that other content.
