I´m having a crazy idea of the yet to see "course maker".

Having in mind that this new huge track will be based in a real world location it makes me think that we might are not only going to use real locations to make our tracks but what if PD for example gives us the whole planet and we can select a certain place/area, which then will be the sandbox place in where we can make our own tracks using the already made real data.
"Real data" will be the terrain and elevation changes (think as if it is a base plain planet), as if using Google Earth, you go to where Pikes Peak is located and place your "area" there and then you just place the tarmac over the real one where the actual hillclimb is. (actually I made Isle of Man and Bathurst a while back in Outerra Anteworld on PC which is basically a fully rendered planet Earth 1/1 scale with real data which looks exactly like the actual real planet, it has Google Maps included and you can use it to place your roads and such) (also you can get that info the same way PD got their info for the Moon surface...with GPS and satellite data, CAD, etc)

Of course you can´t create it with 100% accuracy but you can create something so similar to what the real place is for sure. Then add some assets (trees, different tarmac surfaces/textures, bridges, buildings, etc)
So no legal issues there (when it comes to track licences) because it will be a "hand made" work from us.

---------------------
Full stop crazy boy::lol:

Before someone say it: I know that the actual amount of content needed for this is huge (resources, a lot), as huge as the idea of having an entire planet where you can create your tracks, a world that doesn´t look too fake or poorly done when it comes to quality, enough assets and variety so you can make believable environments...etc.

---------------------

Continue:

After all...aren´t some of the best tracks in the game those made in real locations but at the same time being "fantasy tracks" or as PD call them "original"?? (those asking for Seattle or Great Canyon maybe have something to say...)

Now I´m not a dreamer, though I know this sounds way too crazy. Also having in mind the hardware and what PD has to do to implement this sort of "massive tool" and how "slow" they are to develop their own ideas...It makes it impossible.

Still...WHAT IF...is something slightly far away similar to that with some real locations picked by PD (as those in GT5 but this time real ones). It can be some sort of that way that PD is going. So "my" idea can be not as crazy at all after all...but for being developed it can take ages in PD´s hands for sure.

Just imagine the possibilities.

It is sad that "just a guy" like me has this kind of ideas and not a multi-million game developer company...

Last thought...I have not a single idea of what the course maker will be as any of you, I have no expectations and I just illustrated what I would do in a "badass" going out of places way.:gtpflag:

I think this new track is just a new track. I don't think it was made with course maker — I know that was a rumor, but has it been confirmed by anybody?

Not that I know anything about anything. But...I just took a look at the area around the lake/reservoir near El Gastor (one of the two rumors that this is what the track is) in Spain on google maps. I did a street view of the road that wraps around the lake/reservoir. It looks pretty similar to the video.

I wonder if it could be both the course maker and just a new track?

ie. This may just be a "Here's what you will be able to do with the GPS course maker..." except that since they have full control over what the scenery looks like around the course they were able to make it actually look like the region in which the road is.

Or possibly this will be one of the regions which is useable in the course maker...

Again I know nothing nor do I claim to know anything.

EDIT: my avatar is not an outline of the possible new track (in case there is some confusion)

EDIT AGAIN: http://goo.gl/maps/jaKXK <-- that??? maybe???

What if the X2014 has been done for a month, but the delay was waiting for the track to be finished because we have to do a five-minute lap for the Vettel challenge? :nervous:

What if they're waiting for Red Bull to launch their new F1 car?

The Red Bull RB10, the Vettel Challenge, an updated Hanger 7 photomode location and the new track all coming with update 1.04.

But one lap is going to take 10+ minutes

If the X2014 Fan car is a ludicrous as the other two that came years before, I expect a 4 or 5 minute lap, since the course is only slightly longer than the Ring. On the ring they can pull sub 4 minute laps.

The X2010 will lap the Ring in well under 4 mins in the right hands.

Here's a link to a couple of videos showing @Arnold Wong running a very neat and tidy 3.39.

While we are in the GT section, would you please stick to GT and not to any other game / and or developer.
I do not care at all what other games can or not, if they have bugs or not or how many people work for on game content.

I do care about what PD is serving us for GT 6 and still i have to admit they should hurry up their work rate to provide at least the game contents they printed on the game packages.

Indeed. I struggle to accept that there's so little Gran Turismo 6 News at the moment - given the impending update(s) - that in the GT6 News & Discussion thread, members are not discussing GT6 news.

GTPlanet's primary function is a resource. Our GT6 forums are a resource for GT6. This thread is a resource for GT6 News. Members who actively pervert threads in this fashion destroy the site's primary function - guess how amused the staff are by that.

There are threads for your disdain. There are forums for your other games. This thread is for discussing GT6 news.

I've been a little out of the loop since the TPGS, so sorry if it's been asked already
; did I read somewhere that GT6 had another presentation?
