Here are a few general musings of mine for general discussion...
I began my International A journey last night. Because I was certain I needed a capable race car, I did the World Circuit Tour in a Lamborghini Diablo GT2. I took my chances. I ended up winning all five races. What surprised me was just that I thought I was probably going to run away with every race. Granted my opposition was mostly rally cars and high-end touring cars, it would be crazy to say a Lamborghini would be at the same level as these cars; but unfortunately, it was! The biggest problem I faced was trying to keep the Diablo GT2 stable. At some point, I knew the back end would snap on me and induce me into a spin. This was especially true racing the Brands Hatch GP and Daytona Road Course tracks. I had to restart the race several times at the Daytona round because I knew I can win if this car doesn't snap on me. I eventually bought racing-spec parts for this *race car* to actually be a... well, race car. I even adjusted brake balance. Maybe my biggest accomplishment was in erasing a 25-second deficit at the Spa-Francorchamps round of the World Circuit Tours in the final two laps to win. And at the Ascari round, I overcame another huge deficit and won on a track I am inexperienced at. Previously, I had the McLaren F1 GTR Base Model; but I sold it because I wanted to make enough money to buy the 2.8M Credit Ford GT40 for the Classic Muscle Car Series and eventually used that same car for the Classic Supercar Festival.
When I think of the races in Gran Turismo 6, I like to think the events are the length of GT5's A-Spec races but with the stringent regulations of GT5's B-Spec races. The fight is more fair in GT6 than in GT5. Even with races that seem easy, at least many of these races in GT6 are more fair than most races in GT5.
More races can use the time and weather variables. I went to a few tracks that are time variable. I was intrigued to visit Twin Ring Motegi Road Course after seeing several demo loops of Twin Ring Motegi Road Course being raced on later in the day. I took on this track at night as part of a Time Trial using a "Courtesy Car"- the BMW M3 GTR. I honestly want to imagine all (or most) tracks eventually having weather effects and time effects for a complete experience. I honestly envisioned the possibility of maybe racing Grand Valley as a 1000km race or even a 24-hour race. I want to imagine old school Deep Forest Raceway- racing that track at sunset or the late evening. Tokyo R246 at night. A rainy afternoon around Trial Mountain. Maybe let's see Special Stage Route 5 in the daytime. With the sun glare and the sparkly effects at night, I am reminded to a great extent of Enthusia Professional Racing with the sparkles and light effects.
I still am impressed and happy playing GT6 as of this point.
