Why was there even a prologue for GT5? And then still comes out incomplete? I guess to help finance the GT5 project. What happened to demo discs, one track and a few cars... Yes,GT5 is the GT6 prologue.

I hope PD makes a Prologue of GT6 so they can put features in there that won't appear in the full game.

No prologue would just slow down time for Gran turismo 6 to be made even though i dont want a game rushed like Gran turismo 5 was i just dont like the fact that the Gran turismo 6 prologue could look better than the final version of Gran turismo 6 when that gets released.

Oh my god did you just say gt5 was rushed? Expect to get flamed for that one.

I personally wouldn't mind a prologue to gt6, in fact I wouldn't mind if they released gt6 not much bigger than gt5 prologue was and then released dlc expansion packs for it over time adding more and more cars and tracks and whole new racing series and slowly built gt6 into the epic game it ought to be and then that way if you don't like a certain series like nascar for instance you could just not buy the expansion pack and never be troubled by it but I've never heard anyone else suggest it so I fully expect to get flamed and told how my idea is made of fail or whatever.

Let the flame begin: After almost 8 years and counting GT5 is still not finished.

Yes Please. What's not to like? Prologue 5 had leader boards and online that worked. It wasn't great but it worked.

I know, they can just make a new Prologue each year, say 60 cars and 5 tracks and let each version be added to the new one so it gets bigger each year.

What's not to like? The fact producing a retail game takes a lot of development time away from actually building the full game. It's not like they just get to day X in the development cycle and say "Yep, let's build what we've done so far before Lunch, we'll have it ready for retail before the end of the day". No, they took a lot of time and effort building prologue games, they even heavily supported GT5:P, all time that could have been otherwise spent on GT5 itself.

But that time and effort was spent on GT5. I mean prologue was obviously a part of GT5 development. All cars ended up in GT5, all tracks, almost all photomode locations, GTTV, online, music etc. The physics were an early version of GT5 physics, the graphics and lightning too (even though graphics were better in prologue). They had to make the races obviously but it still doesn't seem like it would take a significant amount of time. And yeah, they supported it, mostly by adding cars or features which were going to end up in GT5 anyway.

I have my own reasons for not wanting a prologue but i don't think it takes away development time from the actual game.

Generally agree with you, although from interviews Kaz did, it sometimes came across as if PD were getting a bit distracted by 5P. We're still waiting for that 5P update that is supposed to add damage...

I think there's a high chance of GT6:P. It's easy money for Sony and nudges up GT's sales numbers. Although maybe after reaction to GT5, Sony might think just getting a top quality, fully finished GT6 out the door first is more important.

The modellers were obviously working on everything for both games and their time wouldn't have been taken up by Prologue but the coders, the people actually working on the game side of things would have been.

Look at it like this. You start with nothing in terms of a game, just 3D models. You start building a game up until point X when you decide that you can release what you have so far as a finished product (Prologue). So at point X you send off a 'final' game to Sony, it's pressed and sold and so on. Now you're at point X+1 and your main plan is to finish making a full game so you continue with that, you get to X+1 month. But wait, you've still got to support and update version X. You can't just send X+1 as an update because you're completely changing major aspects of the game into something larger (GT5). So you have to go back and work with what you had at X point and make changes to it, taking time away from what you're on with now.

I don't know if that makes any sense but in simple terms by releasing a retail version at a certain point in time and then continuing to update that features/software wise it takes time away from what you're doing in the future.

Just had this pop up in my news feed. A website called Dual pixels, who is known to have 2 credible leaks, has released a ton of info that may or may not be true regarding next gen console development and technology.

In the Play station section, it talks about PS4 now being called "Omni" with some crazy new tech, and that a launch title in development being Gran Turismo Prologue.

If it's true, GT6 looks like it will be coming on "Omni"

I think it's just rumors as well. - Thought it could be fun if they really were/are working on Prolouge. Though, I think they'll skip it, this time.

gt6 is "amar-confirmed" to be on the ps4 and it's quite obvious there will be a prologue first (I mean why not, from a company's perspective).

Just curious how did amar confirm it?
