GT6 Sales Discussion

I didn't buy anything from Amazon in my life and don't know what's meaning of this. but in GT6 page, they say: In stock on January 28, 2014
Why there isn't GT6 until January 28? is it sold out?!! :boggled:

Sounds like it has sold out. One would assume this will drive digital sales even higher than expected

This is nothing that should be shocking. The ps3 is basically dead. Gt6 knew this and only released this game to get a quick buck. It's like 60% gt5 and 40% new which is a pretty minor build. They could use the money to sling shot to gt7 on ps4. What I'd like to see in GT7 is carry over the premiums from gt6 and add a few new cars and make all them super-premiums where you can do what forza did and let you open them up and use their buttons and doors etc. Then they should throw out, stomp on, burn the person who stomped on it then purge the land where they reused gt4's AI and start over! Make the AI more than just rolling road blocks. They could use real racing sounds, add forza's full vinyl creator, add amazing new life-giving features like a simple free roam city for its career mode, create lots and lots of events for each car and give realistic events where you race cars all of the same class, specs, year, style etc. Allow qualifying and make the game feel like a real racing game. AND PLEASE make the menu system something that doesn't feel dated the day it comes out(GT6!!!!) with horrible generic rock music.

The PS3 isn't dead, not in the slightest - support is continuing to 2015 at least and maybe longer: hell, the PS2 lasted for something like six years after the PS3 came out. However, perhaps you missed the whole Sony rationalisation behind putting GT6 on the PS3 announcement - there is a news item here, if you did.

I like the menu on GT6 thank you, which leads to the music - that's also a matter of opinion - some like it, others don't - doesn't make it wrong.

I also think the menus are fine in GT6, easy to get to pretty much everything and looks decent.

As for the music there is no way to please everyone with stock music in a game such as this. You must remember who plays the game and that ranges from children to seniors. Some of the younger players may like rap or death metal where as some of the older folks would like classic rock and others may like classical, country, folk, pop, you name it. There is a huge variety of tastes out there and they did do something that can suit everyone in allowing us to choose what music is played to the point that we can use our own songs and our own playlist. It doesn't get any better than that.

Although PS2 lasted for like 6 years it's support was very little. In fact think the only games worth a crap that came out after 06 was the Persona series same thing bound to happen with PS3 as well.

I'd agree that after 2014 PS3 might be dead remembering seeing a list of games coming this year and didn't know how to describe it.

He probably have no idea how much does it cost to have online servers that have to host millions of profiles, make hundreds of thousands mathchmaking daily, store photomode data, game save synchro data, GT5 items sending support and messaging, as well as that small annoyance called Time and Drift Trial and Seasonal Events uploading and downloading with millions of Login daily.

It must be cheap. Desperation all over the place.
In Pepe's defence; I think it's a bit too early don't you think? Correct me if i'm wrong (haven't looked it up), but how long do the servers of other sequalled games last after the new version comes out? Fifa; Battlefield; Forza; COD and such, i don't think they put their online users in the wind like that less than half a year after a new release.

PS3 is nowhere near dead. At current monthly production, it will take years for PS4 to gain the same users base. The console is aging for sure, but with, lets say, a price of 199€ bundled with an extra game it will continue to attract (some) audience. Publishers will not drop the platform as long as they (believe they) can take a profit out of it.

I agree, I think PS3 will be supported well past 2015, although I do think at that stage they will make PSN plus mandatory to play online games. I also think PD will have online support for gt6 as well at gt7 concurrently.

Choose one of the 5 other sellers that have the game in stock and are fulfilled through amazon.
Means nothing.

Ummmmm YEAHHHHH!

I have to wonder how many units Sony expected to sale. If they only expected to sell 3 or 4 million units, then the sales arent a disaster.

All the talk of GT7 coming very quickly has me believing they didnt expect very high sales numbers, meaning GT6 was something like a GT5P, a game to help fund the bigger project, in this case GT7.

"We estimate Sony's game software revenues have totaled $1.6 billion in the first six months of 2013, down 11% compared to the same period last year," said Warman. "The $300 million thatGT6 brings in this year will generate approximately 10% of Sony's game software revenues."

The price has already dropped by $20 and maybe more. They'll be lucky to sell 4 million units and lucky to do so at an average of $50. That's retail. Take out the retailers cut, PD's cut, distribution and advertising...and there's not a lot left, if any. Revenue =/= profit.

Indeed, goes to show they were really expecting another success story with GT6. Take into account what you say and they will never even get close to those expected revenues.
You see Sony; sometimes people will just not buy a game blindly regardless of lacking improvements or bad reviews, they will only buy it when it's actually worth the money like GT6's sales figures demonstrate.

There's something wrong in that article. They can't honestly think they will sell 70m copies when ps3 sales totals 80m. That's equivalent to say that 87.5% of all ps3 owners will buy gt6, not likely.

They never said it will sell 70 million. Instead they said the franchise has sold over 70 million which is true.

I think people need to wait for official numbers. GT6 is still tracking in the top 10 of weekly retail charts in many European countries and we know nothing about it's digital sales.

Re-read and you're right:dunce:

If that is the case, that is pretty sh**y of PD to sell GT6 as a "complete" game and charge full retail price for it. I feel used if that is true.

Bump!

Was wondering on the numbers seeing we are almost half a year since release now, end of April GT6 sold 2.2 million copies.

http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/41756/Global/

Guess final figures will reach 3 million tops, seeing the hype has passed by now.
Opinions? All in all still a nice payday for PD and Sony seeing all they had to do was recycle GT5 a bit :D

We can still assume there is going to a (small) bump in sales towards the end of this month, with the closure of the GT5 servers and 5 gift cars to lure in new players.

Yes but i think those kind of 'updates' only generate extra sales in the tenthousands. Games mostly sell at their best in the first months and then the second hand market takes over.
