Penalties is not a solution... Did it ever happen, last lap online of SPA that someone cuts the final corner then wins? It happened many times for me. Penalties is not a good solution for cheaters, but only a warning for mistakes during the races. So they better add invisible walls if you want to race clean, because the world is not so simple. There are lots of GT cheaters around the online community of GT5.

It isn't currently a solution but that is because the effectiveness of the penalties depends on how they are implemented. For instance - if a player crosses the line with 5 seconds of a penalty to still serve, they could have it added to their finishing time. There are options and the implementation of penalties could certainly be improved for GT6.

You could just have what Forza does and have a super-grippy surface on the inside of corners, to slow corner-cutters down enough so that cutting becomes inefficient.

So no dodgy penalty system to exploit.

Just use the system that the F1 games use. If you cut the corner severely, you are disqualified from the race.

Which is great...until you're fighting for position, somebody cuts you off and sends one of your tires into the kitty litter. It takes you six seconds to get back on track and now your race is over.

Having a slow patch inside corners is not the answer; that's just the easy way out. Devs need to create better algorithms that can accurately interpret whether the maneuver off track was purposeful or by accident, whether or not an advantage was gained, and if so what an appropriate punishment would be.

Went karting earlier today and can honestly say I barely noticed the guys with the flags let alone people around the track. So why are animated spectators such a big deal/good thing/bad thing in GT6?

When spectators are done perfectly, there will be something else wrong... always... people want their favorite game to be perfect, although it's not possible, especially on PS3.

Not until they get the LFA engine note perfect and bring back the distortion to their samples.

This is quite a smart move from PD IMO to keep spectators out of the actual race.

It keeps the game performance consistent and you don't really pay attention to the spectators anyway. It should be present on the replays to lighten it all up though.

I think moving spectators are a small plus. Sterile track environments have been a problem for me, so I welcome any improvements in this regard.

I didn't notice it before, but I think there could be at least three variations to Matterhorn. Before, I only noticed the blocked off paths at the very top and bottom of the track. Now I realize that there's one sort of in the middle (past the second-ish turn) just after the starting line.

I like that idea, definitely better than the current penalty system IMO.

What would you think of having varying degrees of off-road "stickiness" then, like having a strong and weak version?
