They should just give drive throughs or stop and go penalties. If you don't obey, you get disqualified. No points and no money. Problem solved.

Prize money reduction depending on how much contact you've had with other cars could be a viable implement.

looks bad and pretty boring like gt5, hopefully project cars seems to be able to deliver something new.

Project Cars has very weird physics but if you don't fear arcade, it's a good alternative to GT.
But what I'm afraid the most of this game, it's the graphics and fluidity on PS3. If it's like Codemasters games like F1 2012, there is no way for me.

Many games over the years have tried this. Enthusia and Real Racing 3 immediately come to mind. It takes all the fun out of racing and it never works. Online it might be useful to deter punters and bad drivers, but offline? :yuck:

In what way is it "boring"? Just curious.

He probably refers to the fact that GT doesn't simulate the G-Forces on the cockpit view (ok it's a question of taste), and especially the lack of true thrilling sound engines, who decrease hugely the sensation of adrenaline who is very important in the pleasure of race driving.

They are type of players like him who need this philosophy of simulation. Personally, it's not my case, GT view is enough for me to remind me the sensations of race driving (except external view who is terrible).

how about because it is his opinion? I also think he has a good point, the game play in these videos is very depressing.

The playing of the game is bad, the game should be good.
Neither are important enough to be depressed over.

Now, this guy's depressed.
It's Gran Turismo, 15 years of 'same meat, different gravy'. If you need new, then wait for PCars-. Lets hope its worth it.

Agreed my cross channel chum 👍.

No the reason it is boring is as follows.

In the three videos I have watched the player has been able to start from the back and pass the entire field within half a lap of starting.

The reason it is boring is because the AI is so slow that it is virtually impossible to lose a race in GT5 and it looks like it is going to be the same in GT6.

When you start a race, pass the entire field in 54 seconds and then have another 1.5 laps of driving around at the front, ,with the knowledge you can make a mistake crash into a barrier & still recover in your slightly deformed car & win the race.

This is not even close to the spirit of racing. It looks like yet another time trial with some moving chicanes to pass on the first lap.

[Edit] If that sort of gameplay is OK for you, then that's fine. I hope you enjoy it. I just wish they would introduce an AI system that also catered to those that actually want to race the beautifully modelled cars.

But GT is supposed to be a real driving simulator, not a real racing simulator. You're just completely wrong to choose Gran Turismo where physics were always more important than AI opponents. And GTR is by far the best racing game I know.

I 100% disagree, sorry. GT is not made for time trial, GT has GT mode, A spec mode, B spec mode. These mod represent the entire life time o the game. If IA is bad in GT6, then a soec events and b spec events will be boring as hell as he said. I also hope a wayyy better IA.

To be honest, GT mode in GT5 is 🤬 as hell. AI in GT5 take a lot of curves too slowly and use brakes too early in some places.

And by the past, GT have too few opponents (only 6 by race) to make the race really exciting. Sadly, I always consider Gran Turismo as a (excellent) time attack driving game.

I was happy that new GT-like as Forza Motorsport correct this (but Forza now is terrible on this point).

Fortunately (or not), online is a good alternative to these problems.

But unlike you, I enjoy the Arcade races in GT5. If you try to not cheat with the vulnerabilities of physics and if you look for a smooth, safe and realistic ride, AI is not really a problem but I understand people complaining about that, AI and GT mode are a pain in GT5.

All valid points. The AI needs to be faster and smarter. Now it's only fun when you're in an underpowered car, but how often is that the case? It's nice that Kaz has a vision for GT and all, but it wouldn't hurt to address a few problems that have been there for years. PD just doesn't listen to its community...

Edit: Also, there are so much opportunities with better AI. You could actually give each driver his/her own character (NOT like in B-Spec, that was awful). I mean, if I knew Josh Christenson or whatever was an aggressive driver, I would watch out for him in championship races. If I knew that Gerald Tovainen was slow on corner exits, I would try to overtake him on the straights. And so on and so on.

OK, GT has a lot of one-race events so it might not always work. But right now you're doing a championship over a massive time period and you don't even know your competition. PD always tries to 'involve' us in the moment by showing the garage shots, pit crew, the start up procedure (in the new trailer) but damn just simulate the life of a racing driver a little bit better.

We don't need to give press interviews or anything, I want want some small details like getting in the car, starting up the engine myself, driving out of the pit lane, completing a warm up lap, going to the grid myself to position the car, see the countdown lights and actually launch when I press the throttle and release the brakes. Not when the game says 'go'.
End of rant.

Watching all those Gt6 videos makes me feel Asseto Corsa can't come soon enough! Rfactor1,2 LFS and simbin titles might be able to hold me till AC comes!
Will I buy Gt6? Yes! Do I look forward to it? Yes!
Ai sucks, sound sucks - but I don't care about any of that! I still feel the freaking tyre physics are still unchanged (although suspension travel is a welcome addition)

My take too! but i do think the tyre physics are brand new

I'm gonna have to agree with this, but only in terms of when it comes to racing against other cars, the racing in GT6 looks boring with the AI they've been displaying, for some reason it just looks as though it's worse than that of GT5.

Yeah sure, you'll argue that online is better, but just like GT5, within 2 months online mode will be full of cheaters and trolls. Before you even argue with this "oh join more groups/clans/teams, add more people who race clean", only 10-40% of players actually have the time to time aside in order to do this.

Meh... No reason to complain yet. It's still a demo.

It's funny how they're still using music from GT5: Prologue.

It makes me a bit nervous hearing the sound these demos have a mere couple of months before the games release. Doesn't sound like a lot of time to overhaul the sounds. Also, you would think they would focus on the new cars in the case PD decided to improve on sounds, but that sounds much like a GT4/5 Opel Calibra DTM. In other words: Like a vaccum cleaner at 10k RPM.

Still, Silverstone looks nice, the cars look nice and the physics look deffinitely improved to me. I'll still buy it, but PD definitely needs to improve some trademark issues of the game (sound being the biggest one of them). They have to remember they aren't king of the hill anymore...

That doesn't even sound like a car, let alone a GT3 one.

Seems like the huge differences in quality between cars will continue in GT6. Some sound acceptably, others sound miserably.
