Sounds fantastic, any cruising fanatics here, let's get along! đź‘Ť

Its really really fantastic for the cruising folks.

Mind blown. Really. Speechless.

PD proves once again, their philosophy on bringing new features for us. A course maker this size is completely amazing.

Really, can't wait.

100X100 KM. WOW

If the course maker is deep enough in terms of features and not just a simple random generator, then HOLY MOTHER OF KAZ

If every word by him is to be taken literally, then PD have really mastered the PS3 front and back. Amazing.

I'm finding it hard to believe, but I can't hide my amazement IF it actually comes to the final game. Add to that some new physics and you have a replayability factor that goes OVER 9000. Even 50x50 is mind-bogglingly humongous. Here's hoping that they can extend this level of groundbreaking ability that has made them famous to areas of the game that are seriously lacking.

So far, the hype is only really coming from us (the "community").

Whilst the generator algorithm (big clue there) is said to have been overhauled, I still don't expect full freedom. It could be a lot of fun despite that, although for those wanting to create their own circuits just so, it might be disappointing. The fabled GPS feature might help, but without trackside modifications, it'll not really "work" for a lot of people.

I can't actually believe this figure is accurate, still.

I was thinking the other night about how they should have built the GT5 course maker.

Given that there are certain restrictions innate in the course creator, it's possible to have a better course creator even while adhering to them.

The restrictions are:
1. The course must pass through a group of defined points in a certain order. These points define the sectors. These points may not be placed at the players will, but must be chosen from predefined sets (presumably what the course creator is doing).
2. Within each sector, there are a certain limited number of sections of track that will fit.

So instead of essentially randomly rolling a new track each time like you do in GT5, you could choose your starting set of sector points. Then for that set of points at that location, you'd have a (probably fairly large) selection of road sections for each sector.

Basically, it becomes a fairly complex variation on the scalextric/slot car model of track building. Which is great, because it gives the player more direct control (in that they get what they ask for), but doesn't let them do things which might break the system.

That would be an acceptable way of making larger tracks in GT6. Ideally it would be like Modnation, but I don't think anyone actually expects that.

While the number is mindblowing its usability entirely depends on how the track creator itself will be. If it is as simple as GT5's then it's a large canvas without having a brush, the tools. On the other hand, if it is very well made then it'd a huge deal, with almost complete control of the circuit (or point to point layout) and of the surroundings (buildings, lightning), especially if the work can be shared with other users.

That means the track creator itself is what is of the essence, not the area available. Creations could be either a huge random circuit or a simplified Isle of Man, depending on the tools.

Personally I'm not expecting the freedom that only can be achieved on a PC and with technical knowledge, so not a tool made just for track creation but 3dsMax, a mouse and scanning of the actual circuit, though if PD itself hypes this so much then I expect to be able to recreate the layout of famous tracks and roads in a simplified manner. That means no bumps, no complete control of elevation changes, no pictures of real life buildings, etc., in short able to do laguna seca but not the corkscrew nor the the inclination on the left of the previous turn to it, or could do your local city but without the the actual buildings (on this last matter I hope we can use the already included in GT6's assets, like Rome and Tokyo buildings).

edit: And I really hope and almost expect that the GPS feature is tied to the course maker, so the layout got with the GPS can be tweaked (for example width and surface) and surroundings be added with the course maker. That would make much easier to recreate real life driving roads.

I live in Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas. The roads here would be better than perfect for rallies. Lots of hills, narrow roads, sweeping turns, potential jumps, and other excellence.

That person has the least amount of driving talent that I have ever seen...
It's Andreas. Leave. Him. ALONE! jk

But yea, he already said he isn't very good when someone negatively commented unknowingly about his skill, meaning that they said the driver of a video sucked in his very own thread . Just bringing that up.

Oh, and someone (I think it was Shirakawa) requested footage of Matterhorn being driven in reverse. Andreas delivered, yet again.

Nah, he doesn't have anything on the dude spinning in a kart on a straight at Monza in one of the GT5 demos.

Interesting to see the track in reverse anyway. đź‘Ť

...One of the most ridiculous comments I've ever seen. He's not driving perfectly or anything but he's far, far from being terrible. We've seen so many other vids with much, much, much worse driving than this. Considering he was driving the circuit backwards he wasn't too bad anyway.

It took him 26 seconds to do a u-turn :P Then he didn't brake into the first corner... lol I then closed it.

edit: I watched more, he isn't as bad as I thought... just that first 45 seconds horrified me into closing it :P
