after my racing session this morning i went in a managed to cut my qt down to a 26.1 at deep forest. i doubt i'll be able to improve on that, but hopefully it gets me to start up front tomorrow morning and maybe i can get a win before the week is out.

it would seem i didn't save replays for the more dramatic group racing i've had this week, but here is a couple laps from this morning that to be honest is not my best showing. it does however show reasonably well the type of races i have had this week. good spirited hard racing with everyone trying to be clean. i had a bunch of races with a lot of the guys in this clip today.

the video shows my view then the tv style view.

Daring/Excited to attempt some more Race C's tonight after the missus scoots off to work.

I haven't been online since Monday evening so I'm curious to see if the race pace/race craft has improved enough to get a fair and fun contest rather than attaining places through attrition, or losing them through saltiness and/or carelessness.

Quali pace obviously isn't a problem, and I'm not expecting to start in the top half of the grid, despite generally finishing around p5/p6 earlier in the week.

This weeks C is almost the perfect race, close cars responsive and the racing can be close without people randomly spinning.

It would have been perfect if it had some strat.

The races I've done today on C (US servers) mostly clean, lots of suicides my own included and a few "elbow" moments but it's a close GR4 race for whatever pace you have but nothing crazy.

My First Nations race today you'd have thought I was invading which ever country with the pushing and shoving (ignoring the idiot T1 dive bombs!)

Well guys, looks like I won't be doing anymore racing with you until I buy another Ps4/ps5. I had to sell it 3 days ago. I guess I won't need to worry about racing at Fuji now, xD. What a shame because my greedy family wouldn't help us pay for her cancer medicine/food. I had a good run, finished 1,423 races in a 20 month period. I hope you don't need a PS plus subscription to do daily races with people because I had to cancel that too, it expires November 8th.

In the kingdom of the blind a one eyed man is king.

The ghosting is so strong in C/D lobbies.

Here is the thing, that sort of mentality is mostly the issue to be completely candid. It serves no purpose.

I'd also imagine in a C lobby car control generally and the age range of players is quite low. Just drive your race and drive to survive.
Nearly 350 races and this was the first time I've done it.

They were trying to ram anyone near them (most of the time succeeding aswell), even on the straights.

From my experience worn oil will affect lap times in a controlled environment. I notice it occasionally in the weekly TT when I find one that I really like and run too many laps. I'll find my times dropping off and when I exit I have worn oil. Change the oil and the times come back down. Obviously we're talking very minimal gains here, but a little is a lot on the leaderboard.

Now for an extreme example. My Tomahawk X has over 31k miles and is down 24 hp from the stock 2586 hp. This equates on average to over a second per lap at SSX. The car has had hundreds of oil changes and many engine and chassis rebuilds. @GOTMAXPOWER has an infamous high mileage Gr3 911 that he uses in the daily races. If I'm not mistaken, it has never had an engine rebuild. He can probably chime in with some more information about the effects on speed differences during races.
My Raptor has about 18k miles, and the engine, chassis, and body all say Bad!
No oil changes, or rebuilds. The hp has dropped from 802 to 735.
I wanted to see if it would eventually just stop working, but it doesn't appear so.

I have raced now two weeks in dailys after a LONG time away from GT. Now I'm getting fed-up again. Why is it such a big portion of players even in DR A who can't or don't want to race even remotely clean. In DR A it is not so much deliberately dirty, but seem people either just lack the skill or self-control to race clean. There seems to be only two possibilities when racing in places between 3-14 - you can either race competitively and tank your SR (and eventually DR) due to people being all over the place or race carefully avoiding people and tanking your DR. I just cant understand how the drivers can have SR S while they keep ruining their own and others race. And how people get to DR A without any capability to drive side-by-side. Connection issues saving them from penalties? How hard can it be to not give DR S to anyone touching other cars 80% of the time? And also to stop mixing BS with AS.. BS is just as it says - unimaginably dirty racing with inconsistently fast drivers. BS

I was already well towards mid DR A when the racing got dirty and after few messy races I had to back-off to fix my SR and ended back to BS and even more dirty racing. I guess dailys just dont work. Too bad, as I dont have that much interest in racing meaningles unrated races in online -mode. I guess this is why I basically shelved GT soon after the release of GT7..

That is something to consider, yes there are some dirty drivers and yes there are some that are happy to lean on you or "cut across your face/move in to the braking zone 3inches in front of you"

You can drive round this behaviour and you also have to look at it another way, I've played this game almost every day since launch with nearly 5500 sport mode races alone (this doesn't include my Eu second account and US alt)

I'm a cusp B/A driver depending on the week

Even as a B driver I can typically QT in the top 500-750 most weeks (not SF or Gr1 or odd ball stuff)

The reason I say this is as a B driver with thousands of clean races, top 5s it's not the driver rating that you need to be cognizant of but the lap times relative to yours.

Here is an example, on my US account today I started second to an A+ driver 1/10 better QT than me and the rest of the field was B/C rated.

We finished over 35 seconds ahead of everyone else (those that finished, we lost 5 along the way)

In the UK/EU lobbies (my normal ones) I started 7th with a top 800 time in an all B lobby.

So Dr is an indicator, so is SR but you have to look at the whole picture and you have missed a few physics updates, people have definitely improved and you are out of race practice - like ignoring the mirror, not checking the radar, not giving up fighting for the greater good etc.

This is exactly what im amazed by - but it is the other way around. Even if I try to be very polite by checking the radar (and I also use VR so im very aware of the cars next to me) and leaving 1,5-2 car widths room, people tend to bang the sides and try cutting to apex or outside like theres nobody there. Also I find it ridiculous how people fight tree cars wide when they clearly just cant maintain a smooth expectable line through a corner. Fighting unneccesary fights when they would finnish way higher by just waiting for safer places to overtake. And if I stay clear just a car lenght from these mayhems, someone from behind thinks thats the cue for a dive bomb.

That said, this would be greatly improved is they would fix the collision physics between cars to be more soft and rubbery than the pingpong it is currently.

How come you are at DR B with so many races in top5?

Great week at Deep Forest. Not sure if I got lucky with the lobbies I was in or what, but it was mostly this kinda fun:

Threw it away with two penalties (completely avoidable ones, too 🤬) but man was that a blast of a run! Finished P2, hands shakin' and all.😁

PS - Sorry for the ten or so seconds at the front of that, thought I'd shaved that off.😇

No offence but I have mixed experience with VR users and sometimes they are absolutely rapid and aware....other times they are just slower and take lines like road driving rather than racing lines.
I stay clear just a car lenght from thmayhems, someone from behind thinks thats the cue for is jusin GT and it something we all have problems with in all but usually the top lobbies.

GT race formats encourage this especially in daily B where there are almost always sprint formats.

It's also a very clear sign of people who don't understand how to make fast total race time and that those moves just drop you further and further back from the people in front.

Because I throw away too many races but ultimately this is something I do for fun and moaning about :)

It took me quite a long time to really understand the game, but now I do I don't race as much as I used to even with all the gear. I also care a lot less about DR but will do things like the Manu cup or nations

Had a nice weekend of racing so far. Start the day mixed in A/B - A/S lobbies. Already? Tooo early for me, I'm not racing always in the tail of people, not yet ready to drive like I had a knife in my teeth.
I reckon it's the next step I need to make on racecraft. Those first ones mixed with DR A helped btw in the next two won by 2nd in grid. So, lil more chasing at 0.1/0.2 sec distance and even guys with Supras or Lambos were in trouble. Some still can't pass without touching, but I'm ok with that, unless is deliberately done and continuously. I met just few of those "so called racers" among a majority of clean and fair drivers. Anyway please PD, no more mixing categories, at least till when some is at 1 or 2 races from rising to the next DR level. Started the week at 0.1 DR B and now at 0.7ish. I don't see why I was already in the mix with DR A drivers. What else? I changed my helmet (Gurzu design).

I have also been having really great races this week. Like 99% clean but hard racing. Personally I'm a typically passive racer, mostly due to knowing my own skill and preferring to give up a spot than take us both out, and that might have a lot to do with my experience. Who's to say....

I honestly don't feel strong here but I've been having a lot of fun and have managed to slowly get better all week to the point where i am back even or slightly ahead in the DR game than where i began. I suppose if i am gonna keep up racing as much as the last few weeks i should download the grantracker app lol (or whatever it's called)

I wonder, do people watch racing?

(I'm in the Honda) I did a last turn block pass, I hugged the curb, didn't dive bomb, but I knew that I was taking the line....A block pass. Pretty normal in my mind.

Oh the consternation post race 🤣 Check the radar and mirrors folks

I do. Put a race up with some decent battles and I'll watch it. One thing pd got right was the replays (not VR). They're amazing.

Lack of "Bigger Picture" thinking. Some people can only see exactly what's in front of them and can't comprehend the race outside of the corner or driver directly in front of them. It doesn't matter whether you're fighting for 4th or 14th, that's all that matters.

As we see frequently also, some drivers seemingly are incapable of a safety lift or touch of the brakes to avoid contact. I'm not talking about inferior reflexes and not reacting in time, I'm talking about no willingness whatsoever to yield even 1/10th of a second to save an entire race from collapsing.

I watched an Adrian Newey interview recently and he summed it up very well.

There are drivers on the grid that have spare capacity (this is the legends and current ones we know are awesome)

And then there are those that have to focus so hard to keep up....scale that back to GT and we are where we are.

Found it!! He was referencing Verstappen and his apparently "subconscious" ability to drive the car.

The only thing I currently have to work on regarding 'capacity' is trying to remember which opponents are on the same pit strategy as I am, and who aren't. This is a shortcoming which can mostly mitigated for by just focusing on your own race and paying attention to the leaders' deltas.

Deep Forest is always great for racing, I'm not sure if I prefer it in forward or reverse, the backwards layout definitely has a better tight hairpin and forwards has a much better hairpin to start, one of the best in the game for side by side racing.

I made a highlights video with the lovely Huracan:

I did 10 races at Deep Forest this week. I would have liked to do more but had to do "real-life" stuff...

It was looking pretty good until today. I was just a couple races away from potentially moving to DR A and then it all went pear shaped.

My second race today I ended up with 3 DR A+ and 6 A in front of me with me the highest placed B. The start of the race was good with the A+ and A fighting amongst themselves and taking themselves out allowing me to gain to 6th. I was holding that through to lap 5 when 7th was able to get along side on the finish straight. We went 2 wide through turn 1 and into 2 but I got my left wheels on the dirt and careened into barrier. I ended up 10th. I should have stopped there....

The next two races I just crashed and burned in spectacular fashion. After the 15th finish, I had to walk away.

I feel I could get this back but I ran out of time this week. Off on a trip in an hour... DR A will have to wait a little longer.

Side note, I have a 7% loss on that last race. That is the most I have ever seen. Usually I thought +/- 6% was the limit. 🤷‍♂️

Easily one of my LEAST favorite tracks so totally with you on this one. Can never get a lap entirely right no matter how many times I try. I know 'more laps' is the answer but, damn, zero motivation to even learn that place.🤣
I've been lapping Fuji for decades now. I still hate it and I refuse to learn sector 3. It's the most garbage sector of a race track in the world

Got in two more runs at Deep Forest this morning.

Finished 2nd in the first one due to the cars in front of me deciding to try take each other out.

Second race someone decided to take me out to send me back to last but I managed to get back up the grid enough to get a DR boost.

So... I logged in to get the Daily Race article underway and this message popped up:

I'm assuming this is global, 'cos I can't exactly see why I'd be the only one getting it
Nope.. no such page for me when logging in.

That said - PD has some serious nerfing to do in gr.4 and gr.1. Huracan and Bugatti VGT are getting old.. 😆
