The problem is, the yellow flag warning is at the top of the screen.

When I'm racing close to another car, i.e. attempting an overtake, I'm focusing on the radar and the road just above, basically the bottom half of the screen. I never notice the warning until it's too late. The yellow doesn't register in my peripheral vision like approaching cars do in the mirror. Peripheral vision is color blind and responds to movement, like an incoming dive bomb. The yellow warning letters don't draw attention. The red 3 sec penalty popping up does though :banghead:
Not to mention that I've seen so many of those "you will be forced to decelerate at the next penalty line" messages on this track that I've grown numb to any yellow banner up there.

I still can't figure out Watkins Glen where I won't be a menace during an actual race. I made no improvements to my time and managed to do even worse than yesterday. Very frustrating. I'll keep turning laps as any experience is welcome for future races. Oh well, it's still a good track. I just stink at driving it.

There has been a driver I see from time to time who uses ABS weak or off (it's a yellow ABS icon on his dash) who has been straight destroying people's races. Full on punts that net him 3 to 5 second penalties. He needs to either get good or get with the program. It's like he doesn't even care because he just continues on.

But the yellow indicator pops up, which is basically movement (the pixels change colour).

My first pass at Watkins Glen that's not passing a car that (fully) loses control and I get a slap on the wrist, smh

I still had a 0.5 sec penalty from recovering the car when it started sliding in T1. I'm still getting used to no TCS and while I don't spin out, sometimes still need a bit of extra space to counter steer. Lose time and get a penalty for not crashing lol.

That there was a yellow flag punishment at that moment is again so typical PD. In my view, it is neither justifiable nor acceptable.

Sure you can see on the monitor below that the other was a few inches ahead, but in the action of the race I'm sure no race steward would have imposed a penalty here, it was a side by side situation heading towards a corner you could even suspect that the other driver knew/saw exactly what was going on and provoked a penalty for you, because as we all know here, the 3 seconds + the loss of speed is dramatic.

Unfortunately, that's another point that I don't like about the game at all. On the one hand you get a yellow penalty, although the scene of the accident is still far away, in addition the vehicle will or should be a ghost when you reach it... but dozens of dive bombs ectr. will NOT be penalized.

Only yesterday I had such races again, which only frustrated me hopelessly and spoiled the fun of racing very much.

The assists are driving the car
If in this particular case....or just basically you have NO idea what you are talking/writing about...then you should just be quiet.

That's just stupid and arrogant babble, nothing else.. but we've already met you, so it doesn't surprise me.

The fact is.. and everyone is free to think and write whatever they want.. but assistants help to drive continuous lap times in the race, or to conserve tires or "survive" some unfair actions of other drivers. Regardless of the reason they are switched on... as long as you can use them to compete in the race in your own personal frame in the best possible way... it is absolutely legitimate and correct to use them.

And YES assistants usually slow down the vehicle and the optimal lap times decrease as a result. That also means qualifying will certainly be slower with these assistants, but that is and should be up to you.

In the end, what counts is the race result you achieve and whether you are satisfied with it.

BTW: My browser here at work does not support Multi Quote, so unfortunately a double post!

What the hell?
Wouldn't this be the ideal situation for ghosting?

Did you pick up a shortcut penalty too? I had a similar issue yesterday with a car been stopped in the middle of the bus stop and for what ever reason it never ghosted them. Managed to avoid them but I cut over the grass just like you and but escaped without a penalty.

Mistake at the bus stop leads to awesome bit of racing:

My opponent has a YT channel, he's grown very quickly and I'd advise checking him out if you haven't already, because he's a very fast top split driver and a great guy

Nice, good to see some good clean racing.

I really like the Race C. Too bad the combo of a new track, not enough time and being over my head in A/S did not return much result.
It is a good Race C, just wish I wasn't so slow there though! I have to keep checking to make sure I haven't selected a Gr 4 car by mistake 🤔

Fastest QT for me is in the M6, but I prefer the AM Vantage in the race. It's incredibly stable, whatever the state of the tyres. Slower over the first half of the lap, but faster over the second half - particularly up the hill after the hairpin bend.

Try the DB1 or the M3 , that Car´s are also very stable and maybe faster with you.

Ive been driving the Genesis, its faster for me then the M6. I can't handle the oversteer on controller very well with the M6.

Just had a Race A with the Kimi Velocini guy - I was miles back in 3rd when it got all dirty at the front and sneaked through for a win.

Edit/ will upload replay after work - felt bad for the other guy, they'd raced clean for 4 laps and it only got dirty after he took the lead.

Have you done the CE yet? Give that a go if you're having troubles with the track.

Aura is my favorite GT streamer. Was in some races with him when he made a North American account. Of course I got smoked but it's all good.

Actually had a half decent race last night, tried the M6 again and got along with it. In the end you just need the top end, did a half decent job controlling the wheel spin and climbed from 9th to 4th is a stacked room. Next race I got turfed on the first lap by an impatient imbecile.

I know the m6 is quicker but I just can’t match my times I get with the Genesis. I can get through s1 two tenths up on my genesis time but always lose it through s2.
I would be afraid to race you if you are able to get as much out of an M6 as you do the Genesis! You're already feckin lightening quick! :)

True, but for some reason I don't see it. Every time I get a yellow flag penalty I haven't seen the warning. And my only explanation is, concentrating on the radar and bottom half of the screen. The radar should be center, fading in and out when cars get close. Now my attention is not where the warning appears and it's not enough of a change to register in my peripheral vision.

I've decided to go back to TCS 2. I got some races with a bigger spread of DR, meaning I actually got to race some people at the back. I can lap fine without TCS now, but in close situations my throttle control isn't good enough. Also not for recovery. I got punted in one corner which led into a spin, then another spin trying to get back up to speed. Back to dead last. Side by side coming out of a corner I knocked another car off as my rear broke out. Became an obstacle losing control at another corner exit and punted someone in my last race while concentrating on the throttle into T1. That's when I changed it to TCS 2 and managed to drive clean again rest of the race.

I also managed to get a 1:44.7 lap with TCS 2, so only .2 sec slower compared to TCS 0. I guess driving without TCS did improve my cornering to have less interference from TCS. (All the extra practice certainly helped as well). I'll leave it on, better for myself and for others on the track. Plus I would like to see that long lost friend, clean race bonus, again. No more going wide because the rear starts getting away.

It's like a safety blanket freeing up my mind to concentrate on avoiding other cars. You still need some throttle control with TCS 2 but not as punishing as without. With a peddle it might become intuitive, R2 on DS4 is not working for me. Back to staying on the track :)

Same for me, I can get there in the M6 but it's much tougher and less consistent for me. I've done loads of mid 42's in the Genesis in qualy but have managed 42.5 with the M6 once otherwise it's pretty much 43 flat. And the M6 feels faster to me but I just can't extract the time. 😆

Definitely. People wouldn’t have a choice but to use it and they may actually pay attention to what goes on around them.
Didn’t play GT Sport but is it the same radar system and MFD on both Sport and GT7?
I think it’s stupid that they have vital information like radar mixed in with car settings. Radar should permanent fixture. The amount of times I’ve been looking at the weather radar or looking/adjusting fuel mixture, Ive missed that a car right behind me and I’ve possibly blocked or caused an issue.

A customizable HUD would solve everything. I would love to have weather radar, car radar and fuel estimate up at the same time without having to flick through 6 screens.

Fuel estimate should really just be part of the fuel meter on the hud, a simple remaining laps indicator at the fuel gauge is enough. Fuel icon blinking yellow when less than 1.2 laps left or so. Weather radar center bottom where it is now or bottom right, car radar transparent in center view.

I do like that the car radar is slightly more zoomed out in GT7 compared to GTS, yet why not make that customizable as well same as the weather radar. A little further out wouldn't hurt for GR.1 races, while slower very tight races could use more precision.

Tried the DBR9, and it's very good, faster than the Vantage over the lap. Just not quite so stable through the chicane, but it makes up for it through the rest of the lap - almost got up to my M6 time!

Not yet. I was thinking about doing it yesterday, but I was too frustrated to attempt it. I'll do it over the weekend if I got some time

Does anyone else feel that there isn't enough time to select your wheels in the pitstop? At Watkins Glen.

I just had to quit an awesome race I was doing really well in because I selected the wrong tires in a panic.
