Didn’t play GT Sport but is it the same radar system and MFD on both Sport and GT7?
I think it’s stupid that they have vital information like radar mixed in with car settings. Radar should permanent fixture. The amount of times I’ve been looking at the weather radar or looking/adjusting fuel mixture, Ive missed that a car right behind me and I’ve possibly blocked or caused an issue.
Yes, the same on GT-Sp. This is why I hate fuel saving races; it's not because of the fuel saving, but because I can't mess with the fuel settings & have the radar up. The radar needs to be a permanent thing, or come up automatically like mentioned above (and like ACC does it). Anther "WTF?" from the GT games.

Does anyone else feel that there isn't enough time to select your wheels in the pitstop? At Watkins Glen.

I just had to quit an awesome race I was doing really well in because I selected the wrong tires in a panic.
Almost FUBAR'd this myself. Gotta be quick! Once I did forget to hit 'do not refuel' ... Son of a! Obviously I blamed the pit crew chief.

tried to get back into it after a few weeks off from sport mode, but I think Race B is a bad concept and I can’t break 1:45 (even after the CE) on Race C. I see all you guys enjoying it, but i’m so far behind the people in my rank that i know it wouldn’t be very fun. Any spot I pick up would be from an accident, and then id have a lap or two before being caught.

With B, I see people talking about how dirty they are… really I think the issue is how the turns on reverse courses work. Even with AWD, the hard tires end up losing grip unless you’re on the perfect driving line. if the tires had some give, it would be possible for clean side by side racing…. It’s the same problem they’ve had for a few weeks.

Race A is ok? I guess I’m confused why TCS is off, but at least that throws a variable in.

It feels like they’ve kind of iced out people who enjoyed competitive Race A’s and B’s… I’m glad the people who like Race C have gotten the itch scratched, but i continue to wonder what their active sport user numbers are. It’s got to be pretty bleak

I agree the radar should be more prominent but we do have other tools as well, shouldn't just be relying on it completely.

Cockpit often obscures mirrors in awkward ways but you can get used to them and get something out of the ones available in view, as well as the timing list on the left showing how far someone is behind and if you will need to be aware of them.

There's also the red alert circles on the bottom of the HUD which show if someone is alongside and how close to you they are.

All used, and alongside the radar if needed, they can all add to your awareness. I don't find it's a case of needing to have the radar on at all times.

I'm now reminded of those red circles but I never see them in race. My wheel base covers it unless I sit up. But even when on controller, it's not something I ever really took note of.
I thought it was new in Gt7 but apparently was in Sport and I didn't notice for 2 years so yeah, not alone

As a recent wheel convert, I've dedicated a lot of my time on trying to get as fast as my controller times in daily races

With that, my DR/SR is crashing. In the last 3 days, 60% of my races have ended with me quitting because some jerk tapped my quarter panel while I'm making a turn or overshooting a turn and using my car as a brake. Its extremely frustrating

Have you found the car is more prone to spinning out with the wheel? I know the controller does have some inbuilt assists which might help save the car with contact

100%. With the controller, I can recover from bumps a lot easier. With the wheel, if I get slightly bumped I'm losing control, especially since I have all assists turned off.

I thought that might be the case, although I’ve never used a controller. It’s some thing to note when people say wheel users have an unfair advantage

As if to prove a point I recently made, I just had the best, most rewarding daily race ever (despite not winning): Race C in a lobby exclusively consisting of B/S drivers. Qualified P4, was able to overtake P3 in turn 1. Then we battled each other for 8 laps, never being separated by more than about one second. He overtook me in the pits (story below). I followed closely and reclaimed P3, he took the position back in lap 9 after I botched the final corner leading onto the straight. We were constantly fighting for the position, went side by side once from the "heel" up to the corner that leads back onto the Nascar layout. But always respecting each other's space, almost no contact, backing out of risky overtakes if necessary to avoid mayhem. And still fast enough not to get caught by the drivers behind us. In the end he deserved the podium because he was just so slightly quicker than me.

Because of how our race went, I was sure that he would stay in the chat to exchange some friendly words. We did.

That's what online races were meant to be.

Same here. Got overtaken in the pits because I didn't cancel refueling. I was so confused to notice that I was on soft tyres instead of the mediums (damn... until then I had thought that my driving in the first stint was awesome 😬), that I just forgot.

Radar? I have never ever taken a single look at the radar in a race. I'm so busy looking anxiously back and forth from the L1 rear view to the time gap between me an the car behind me again and again and again, that I barely have time to look at the track ahead, let alone a radar screen... 🤣

There are many ways to look back:
1. radar,
2. rear-view button
3. mirrors
4. time deltas

You use 2 and 4. I use 1 and 4. I am not good at it but I expect radar/mirrors is the best way to spot the malicious dive bomber.

I hate fuel save races. Just done a practice run for the manufacture cup tomorrow and I was so far off the pace I finished 1.40 behind 1st. Plus I made an error too which caused a crashed. I was so busy trying to see what my fuel was and making a change on my wheel that I had drifted wide, clipped the grass and I swerving back across I didn’t see the car behind me and side swiped them off.

That manufacture race isn’t even a race. Your fuelled for 7 laps in a 16 lap race, were you run in mix 6 all race.

When I first switched to a wheel I was about 3 seconds slow then a controller. Took me a few weeks before I was getting close to me controller times. My biggest problem was braking and slowing down for corners.

When racing is good there’s nothing like it. I also had one of my best results. I didn’t have the action you did but I jumped into race C at 8.30pm thinking it wouldn’t be stacked as everyone is on nations and this is the grid I had
AC644C33-2567-4B57-BFD1-93A288CEF6E1.jpeg

I started medium and kept it steady and pretty quick as a group ahead on softs we’re fighting i kept pace and they all pitted lap 5. I stayed out as I didn’t want to be behind them on my softs stint. The combination of too much battling and the m6 being a tricky beast to tame with tyre wear saw many a penalty and couple of offs, into p3. Brave chap in the brz put up a good fight, he’s normally way quicker than me but that car is so slow eventually he pushed too hard and got a pen. And I claimed 2nd place in a pretty stacked lobby. First time I’ve gained DR this week I think.

After a few dozen of unranked races on Laguna Seca and Tsukuba, i eventually jumped into ranked Daily Race B today. A first for me since 2017. It doesn't go very well so far :ouch:
Maybe that "Alfa 155 / Maggiore Short" combo doesn't suit me, as a lot of hard contact - when not just dive bombing - gives no penalty.

I quit the Daily Race B after four races on monday despite having a fairly decent qualifying time. Won't waste my time being annoyed by those hyper-aggressive Destruction Derbys and those ****ty stunt drivers any more.

Unfortunately race b is a disgrace the last few weeks. Started with Kyoto once the potential of the 155 was revealed in conjunction with being freely allowed to ram people off the track. I can conceive interlagos next week being the worst one yet.

Not even done Race B yet and I have no interest in doing it either. Like you say, short track with low number of laps = destruction derby.

I did daily race C on ps5 today instead of ps4, reaching an end to my free fall.

I'm still in the top split though, still not really racing anyone, following until they crash or get pulled back by a penalty. It seems people on ps5 crash more and also more quitters. Matchmaking is also more spread out on ps5, I guess bigger player base on ps4.

Still 90% M6 sprint models and a couple Genesis X. I'm sticking to the RC F and had a couple good races against a GT-R. I wish the game actually matched on your race pace instead of waiting forever for DR to adjust. 20 races so far, still getting matched with 1:42 lappers. My FL today was 1:44.8, those BMWs just drive past on the straight, can't even keep up while drafting. GT7 BoP sucks.

I did finally get one clean race bonus! So easy to step over a line once in 10 laps, hard to get the CRB. I guess turning markers on might make it easier, still guessing where the apex is in some of these long corners. It seems to move around lol, same with corner exit

(The -1000 was my mistake. Went to check my screenshots and missed the icon, clicked on Rocket League instead. PS5 does not ask if you want to close the game you are playing. It simply closes it, which was before everyone else had finished, thus marked me as DNF :banghead:)

The week long qualifiers have a lot to answer for in the DR ladder anxiety.

Had some decent Daily C races today. Went onto my main account (to which I've changed my nickname to Talon from J. Bro). Despite starting midpack, managed two podiums and a P4 in the three races. Was pretty happy about those results. Will do some more tomorrow, hopefully have similar luck.

I also had a good day today. It all clicked finally. I guess I'm just a slow learner. Maybe I'll see you out there but I've never raced on the weekend so I don't know what to expect.

I hope NGP will be a one stopper.

First time ever driving anything at Watkins Glen and let me tell ya, it was a challenge learning this track. I spent a lot of time trying to make the M6 work for me but when I finally switched to the Genesis I shaved 4 tenths off my qualy time pretty quickly and hit a 1:41.5. Before then I was using the M6 in the race too but I was all over the place and I just could not put together a clean, consistent race. Switching to the Genesis was a life saver, it’s so much easier to handle on turn-in as well as in traction zones. With that much more confidence and control I was able to get several wins and didn’t bin it once. I’m really liking this car.

Anyway, here’s my reference lap. Once YT finishes processing, it should be available in 4K. Cheers!
