Race B is once again quite an experience this week.

After finally getting a win under my belt the other day, I tried my luck again today. Being on pole unexpectedly, I look at the grid: an Alfa in P3, oh boy...
Of course, lap1, in the hairpin before the COD, he divebombs, misses P2 by a millimeter, and punts me into the barrier. I get back on track in P8, try to start the hunt and have a hard, but fair battle with a Lambo for two laps. Until the same Alfa appears in front of us, falling back from P2, ghosted, obviously slowed down by an incident, and materializes right behind me - yeah, of course, where else...
He punts me two more times, and the only other "contact" I have with another car is with the other Alfa in the race. None of them got any penalty, as usual. And they all are SR S, of course. I finish P12 in a race I started from pole. What the...

PD, please take the Alfa out of Gr4. Or at least get some appropriate penalties back!
(Yeah, will not happen)

Sorry for being a crybaby, but this is just frustrating as hell.
You can say that again...

The Alfa and the GTR (and maybe other cars, don’t know what it is you’re driving) have such different characteristics I can actually understand some of this. Not the out-and-out stupidity of course, and there’s plenty of that behind the wheel (or controller) of many cars in my race Bs, but the Alfas turn so well it can sometimes feel, to an Alfa driver, that the GTR ahead is being deliberately slow or blocking. I can get why a person predisposed to idiocy or violence might get impatient and punt people. Hate it, but understand it.

Just out of interest, have you driven the Alfa in this race?

Edit: do the Alfa drivers have a bad rep? Is that a new thing? Plenty of Alfas driving well in my races, and lots of bad behaviour too, but I haven’t noticed an imbalance between Alfas and GTRs when it comes to driver manners. And that’s despite what I say above. Just interested at what’s being implied here: are Alfa drivers proven to be more psychopathic, or what?...
I haven't seen too much bad driving in Race B this week, irrespective of what car people are using. I've been using the Alfa myself, as it's faster than anything else Gr4 for me - I hope other drivers don't see me as a psychopath because of that!

Seen a few cars slowing down and ghosting today, through the the tunnel after the COD - they have all got through the COD okay, so they're not recovering from an issue there. It's almost like they're in a penalty zone, very strange.

Has anybody else witnessed this?
Lol, that’s what I do. Look where the Alfa drivers are and if there’s one behind me there’s a 100% chance of being rammed.

Definitely, studies have shown they’re insane. Seriously though, since Kyoto a while back the removal of push to pass penalties has opened the door for a certain type of handling car that can quickly change direction and push past a car on the inside. It’s got progressively worse culminating at interlagos last week. Fortunately the Alfa is pretty weak at seaside and the racing I’ve had has been very clean so far. but I echo Leon’s sentiment. Remove it from gr4 or being back penalties.
I got demoted to C lobbies again because I’m horrible at Race C this week. I’ve mostly been doing the B race this week and have gotten a couple of wins as my DR is creeping back. I’ll probably be a B just in time to get clobbered at Nurburgring next week . . . Anyway, the C/B mixed lobbies I’ve been in have become primarily GT-R races with a couple of Alfas sprinkled in. It’s become quite dull.

My observations, to echo everyone here:
  • If you're P1 - P5 you seem to have an unfair advantage at the start because the lead is so insanely huge. The couple of times I started P1 I never saw anyone in my mirror after the first few turns, for the entire race! If you start anywhere after P5, it's nearly impossible to catch the rabbit unless he's battling it out with the lead cars and can't keep pace. For me at P1 it just felt like more quali laps.
  • The penalties seem random. My first three races this morning had a guy intentionally running people off the road as he advanced through the field in all three races. I'm not sure he had the skill to actually overtake anyone cleanly. Anyway, the only penalty he got was a 3 second penalty at the end of the third race, but since he had gained 10 seconds by acquiring the penalty he finished 7 seconds ahead of his victims anyway.
  • I managed to get one 2 second penalty for contact when the driver in front of me hit BOTH corners while trying to exit the CoD. He ghosted and spun sideways and I couldn't avoid him. Oddly, when I rear ended him in the midst of his crazy sprawl it corrected his vehicle and propelled him ahead a spot! I'm not sure why I was dealt a penalty there since it was clearly collateral damage to his accident, and why the ghosting didn't last more than half a second.
Anyway, without an adequate penalty system PD is incentivizing bad behavior and people taking advantage of ambiguous situations. It's disappointing in these races that have zero strategy. Which leads me to . . .

What's with all the sprints lately?! Seriously. I'm getting really bored of these races that have zero strategy and only benefit the folks who are good at running qualification laps. PD showed they could create genuinely challenging races with the Human Comedy missions, so why don't they apply that to the daily races? Many laps with tire wear AND fuel consumption and possibly weather, all rolled into one race?! That would be AMAZING.

Also, why would you need to BoP a one-make race anyway?! I don't get this at all!

I have TCS set to 1 in the global (main options page) settings. Do you mean that’s ignored and all these online races (90 in total now) I’ve done with TCS 3? Can’t be right, surely, must check later. Or am I misunderstanding something?

I only found out yesterday that we can’t adjust brake balance, and I know I could do that in GTS. Haven’t even looked at/for TCS as assumed it’s set in the main options page, tend to just quickly flick to the radar and leave it there.
I've not noticed a pattern to it personally but it's worth checking during the race warm up as it's definitely switched back to 3 for me on a number of occasions.
Yeah, I’ll have to look later. If what these guys above seem to be saying is right, it means I’ve been in TCS 3 in every race (but then what’s the point of having the setting on the main options?)
I noticed this two weeks ago at Watkins Glen. For me at least the pattern appears to be that if you do any sort of warmup lap before the race it will default to your personal settings, but if you just jump into a race without a quali then it defaults to TC3 for some reason. I don't know if the "Warm Up" for a few seconds before a race will correct this if you don't do any quali laps, but I'll check it out later and see.

I had two 156s, each one for six years, and, honestly, I never had reliability issues. The first one looked exactly like the earliest promo photo I had seen back in 1997, it was a beauty.

But I know where the reputation comes from, and deservedly so. We had an Alfa dealer in our little village (still have), and everyone had stories to tell...
I had a 156 2.5 V6. It was stunning and sounded epic! That said, it was the most expensive to run of the cars I've owned. The engine mounts failed the weekend after I bought it. The gearbox went funky and needed a service at great cost. It chewed through tyres like mad, even when driven gently. But it was red and raunchy and called Scarlett, so it'll always own a spot in my heart.

Because people can tune/modify road cars with wings, wide bodies etc, BoP puts them all identical.
Is this possible, even with tuning turned off? I only raced once in the last one-make race offered and didn't notice if there was BoP.

I think spoilers and stuff make a difference yeah, I remember one of the early nations cup testing races being dominated by winged MX5s even with tuning disabled

Isn't that where the penalty zone is?

Silly question maybe, but they’re not actually in the penalty zone, are they? That’s where it is.
Silly me - I'm so used to it being after the Larini bend in GTS, I hadn't noticed it had moved! 🤭

Still, at least it proves that, despite driving the Alfa, I haven't earned myself a penalty yet 😇

I had a 1.8 twin spark, and then the 2.0 jts:

I remember the gearbox had a problem once, didn't like downshifting from third to second gear, but nothing serious.

The MiTo that I am driving nowadays shows some eccentric behaviour with everything electric and electronic. All in all, I'm quite happy with all of them.

Okay, back to the threads main topic, I would say...😇

Not sure on next weeks daily.

Race A - dont physical know how anyone can drive a Porsche 911 GT3 without assists. The car just seems to want to switch ends every corner.

Race B - sounds good but again done this track how many times? Plus it’s a short race. if it was 7/8 laps with high tyre wear then it would be decent

Race C - did a test run today in a YTers live stream and it was boring. Even the host quit the race after half a lap. Should have been GT3 car this race

Did some more Race A today and again had some great clean fair racing. To say it has no DR/SR I was expecting it to be a bash fest but it’s been totally the opposite.

The Nordschleife fails to be boring even in this car, N100 race.

GR.3 is better of course, GR.C would be amazing if PD ever grows a pair.

Anyway Race B has the right version in GT Sport, still up until August, 10 laps, x8 tire wear, RM+RS required, 20 player grids.

Today I was my own worst enemy. Managed to drop my Race B Qualy time to a 1:46 flat and was starting 5th with Wind and Scott Steiner in P1 and P2. Really wanted to test myself and...

Lap 1 i follow 4th straight into COD and drop to 11th 🤣🤐🙄 Funny thing is I was lapping almost same times as both of them on last 3 laps (once I settled down) but I was really looking forward to try and be part of their race!

I am a donkey 🤣

D*mn. I had just dropped mine to 1:46:9 and thought that was quite good, you... donkey alien. Or alien donkey? 🤣😇

Yes. And on Christmas, Santa brings some nice gifts.

Identical. Thats why i'm losing a full second on the main straight with the M4 GT4.
This is not necessarily a BoP reason, but due to the current physics AND, especially with the M4, the wrong gearbox. The Gr4 M4 is absolutely dependent on being operated with MT, otherwise you lose an infinite amount of time compared to everyone else and to the M4 drivers who use MT and the correct shift points.

I do like Nordschleife but just not Gr4 cars. I don’t know we shall see next week where I stand. My mind might change once I done a few races.

Is this what is currently on offer on GTSport? Sardegna A in Gr3 with tyre wear & options? That sounds like a decent race, shame they didn’t copy it over on to GT7.

Grind the Nordschleife CE a little more this weekend... then the first laps next week will feel like they are in slow motion ;P

Unpacking the WRX and burning a few reasonable laps in the asphalt will probably be my first action next week. But I still have 2 days to maybe even find a better car for the track.

It’s claimed many victims in my races. You must have picked a good time. I did a race at 7.30pm and I started p8 when I was starting 3/4 in the daytime. I had wind, scottiesnr and jackbalding amongst the cars ahead. A couple of chicane casualties and an overtake got me to p5 and 2.5s behind the big boys but I couldn’t catch them. The gap stayed the same so that was encouraging. Will you be racing there today at all? I’ve enjoyed the races I’ve done so far, been mostly very clean.

Race C next week….nope. Its a time-trial not a race track.

Race B …… welcome to GT Sport but the ‘lite” version.

Taking a break from this rubbish until PD grow some imagination. Time for some No Man’s Sky methinks.

Yep, just waiting for the Mrs to head out in an hour so I can race in peace 🤣

A lot of people might be already convinced that it has to be the Alfa for them... 😬
Out of conviction ..NO. I don't drive an Alfa!

(By the way.. years ago I wanted to buy a 145 as a demonstration car, during the test drive the check engine light came on and then the car stopped.... guess what I didn't buy ;D )

I won't drive an Alfa either on the NS. Out of conviction. 😇

And out of my two decades of experience I can tell you that the engine warning light in any Alfa has absolutely no meaning at all. Same goes for every other warning light. 😂

If you think I'm an alien, keep in mind a certain Mr Tobasco is half a second quicker than me 🤣👽🛸

Well, right, I don't know if I even dare speaking to him anymore...🤣

Rented the CLK and had another go at Race C - if you can't beat them, join them. Kudos to the one guy running a F1 instead.

Beat some Bs so an enjoyable morning's work. Went with an 8/6 strategy to have slightly fresher tyres at the end (and avoid the herd mentality).

PS - I thought your DR couldn't exceed your SR but clearly not.

Not done any CE yet apart from the one required for the Cafe Missions. As for Nordschleife I’m ok round there. I think I was about 30seconds off the tops times last time it was used in the World Series races. Just Gr4 cars put me off. I’m not that great with the meta cars and struggle to get times out of them. Hopefully he Supra or SLS will power me round in a decent time

Agree. It’s not who’s the fastest it’s who can keep it out of the barriers. Overtaking is just messy too (especially in the lower lobbies)
