It definitely sucks! But as you say it comes and goes, just really frustrating when it goes through no fault of your own. I’m more annoyed I was stripped of having a good race. Kireth and I were pretty much identical for speed and it was hard fair racing. Having 100 people watching on a stream is also quite a motivator!
I know exactly what you mean.
Just yesterday I was having a phenomenal race with Kie25 in daily Race A. Although believe me or not I didn’t felt the slightest bit of Pressure.
Kie is faster than me but he was very Fair throughout the whole Race and proved some great Sportmanship as he backed out after he accidentally hit me.
He gave back the Position and on the final Lap shortly before the Finish Line I let him pass me safely.
He earned that Spot and I refused to fight for 3rd Place.
It’s about Respect on Track, and he has mine no matter what others think about him.
He‘s a good Man generally and I won’t Fight a Fight with Knife between my Teeth.
I have absolutely no Problem loosing a Position to a faster Driver.
The Race was awesome , that’s what Counts for me 😁

Thanks mate. It’s infuriating, I was in p1 with kireth right behind me and we were on for a great battle and he would have watched me sail into the wall gifting him the win. So frustrating as wins are like gold dust in those lobbies.
I started P2 in one of my races today (a rare event) and was looking forward to a great challenge, but I also got a disconnect just before the CoD on lap 1! So frustrating.

So I've been out for the week (as I am sure you all noticed ) so I didn't do any Dailys. Was kinda bummed to miss Daily C until I remembered it was going to be a Merc fest. Was thinking it'd be fun in the Nissan/Lexus/Acura but no. I might jump in on some of them tomorrow but with everyone else having a week's worth of practice under their belts, I am afraid I'd be more of a liability. I guess that's what the B account is for! After driving for over 9 hours today I don't see myself logging in tonight.

Kinda looking forward to C next week, but I just don't get along with the Gr4 cars. And I say carS in jest because we all know there are basically only three Gr4 cars if you want to be competitive. I'm curious to see which one reigns surprime as the Alfa is great at handling whereas the GTR has the top end... both are required for the Nurb. Don't have any experience in GT7 with Gr4 cars around the Nurb but I can't see myself being able to stay away next week.

I wonder if there's an alternative (if even dumber) explanation for this week. The tweet from last week said S/M with mandatory stop. Did they playtest this, realize it would just be a boring and constant 7s/7m and decide to change to H/S to allow no stopping but forget to make hards compulsory instead of softs?

This rationale contains more logic than PD. Mandatory hards would have actually made a race. Even just some medium running would have forced some players to adapt. I'll be honest though less hards is better, using hards in race A with the 911 is one of the most painful experiences I've had lately in a racing game.

It sure is lazy programming. There isn't even any error reporting (sending error reports back like most software do). When I get the dreaded "Unexpected Error" the game can easily let the server know I did not disconnect.

A game freeze is harder to distinguish from pulling the plug to 'save your DR' yet I assume some parts of the program remain alive or the ps5 would report the game having crashed. I had a freeze as well yesterday, just got this and had to close the game.

It sucks. Personally I only treat DR as a curiosity and a tool to find competitive races. But I fully understand the frustration of trying to reach the top and getting set back by crap out of your control.

Part of the reason why so many people make alt accounts is because the higher your DR the higher the risk vs reward ratio gets. A win can get you less than 100 points in daily races outside prime time. A disconnect can cost you 2,000 DR.

I just don't understand how GT7 online has all the bugs from GT Sport plus a whole load of new ones. It's frustrating :banghead:
Ive not had any issues with daily races for a long time. First week or two when the game launch I had the odd disconnection but it’s been fine since on both consoles.
Is this issue above on PS5 or PS4? Might be worth doing some testing on both consoles and see if its an ISP issue or console related issue?

Think it was yourself who said you have poor connection on PS5 but a better connection on PS4? Having played on both consoles regularly I have noticed the same thing. PS4 I consistently have 5 bars and PS5 I get 3-5 bars. This makes me think are PD prioritising the PS4 servers more than PS5?

For WRX and GTR I would recommend you first not too late.. don't brake too hard... when turning into a corner you should already use a reduced braking force. The cars are safest when you let them roll a bit, but you can usually flat out at the apex of a corner or just after it, as the 4x4s have massive traction.
I’ll give this a try today at some point. I would say my driving style is brake a bit early but not heavy braking and try to trail brake into a corner. I’ll upload a video later of a lap in GTR.

I think I ended up doing at least 9 Race B’s today… mostly fun & clean, somehow I’ve ended up in a higher split so quite a few “start near the back & finish 5th” races too.

One race I was too closely following a pair of GTR’s fighting through the CoD, they both crashed but I hit them before they ghosted - so I got engine damage & a 2s penalty :(

Final race of the night, up from 15th to 11th, I got badly divebombed in the final corner on Lap 3 & knocked off the track (he got no penalty). I managed to catch up and return the favour, I got a 3s penalty but managed to block him again on the last lap… it felt like necessary payback!

Had a session late last night. About 10 attempts at race B between 11.30 to 3.00-ish uk time. Saturday night’s for fightin’ as the song goes, and so it turned out.
Began the night DR/SR AA, ended BA, by way of CD 😂
Took revenge against the many nutters for once, too many of them loose on Sat nights, and it felt good. Turning the other cheek doesn’t work in this game, as it seldom does in life.
A few really good races with good people too. Two more wins for the tally, 103 races now, 11 wins. Still struggling to enjoy it, but seeing reports from other people here about the bad behaviour they encounter really helps, would have called it a day ages ago if I didn’t feel others were experiencing the same crap.

Simple solution, slow the weather radar down. Clouds moving 150 km in 4 minutes is nonsense. You should be able to see the weather for an 18 minute race lol. The pre race lobby should also have weather radar that plays the predicted progression of the weather for the duration of the race. I can pull up weather radar for all of Canada with 6 hours ahead prediction...

Even leaving it as it is, it would be the opposite of getting old! Best would be the track reflecting real world conditions, although it would be dark most of the time I can race. Night races are just as good there anyway :) I see there is only 4% chance of rain next week in Nürburg, so would still be dry :/
Since the AWD cars have been dominant so far, in GT7, I initially thought that because they're notorious for chewing up front tires, it may become an equalizer at Nord next week. But with the tire wear at 1X, it won't actually be a factor in 2 laps, will it?

I'm winning in the D/E lobbies and losing badly in the A/B lobbies in Race B. . . . When will I get put in some C lobbies where I belong?! Sheesh!

Any idea what Gr4 cars are going to be effective at Nurburgring next week? I'd like to start preparing for that one (since I've got plenty of reps at Sardegna already).

I think whichever handles best for you. If you can just keep it on the track, you'll pass lots of cars that crash.
Top speed is really unimportant. Choose a car with good braking and cornering.

2 lightweight, nimble cars come to mind. Toyota 86 & Megane Trophy.
As long as you're not racing the A+/A crowd, I think you could get some good results. 👍

Is your SR at maximum? That’s a crazy spread

Yup. I’m very high C/S. Not so high now after racing some A & B guys. It was actually the other couple of C drivers that caused the trouble and killed my races!

The funny thing is that the D lobbies were all SR B or lower. I have no idea how I got mixed with them other than there weren’t many people racing that early.

Ah yes, that Megane Trophy. I was having fun in the BRZ last week as well, but it wasn’t keeping up this week.

That’s a very good advert for how good the game can potentially be.

Is that the cam you use for driving (hood)? Recently switched to it myself, from cockpit, so glad to see a good driver using it too. I have hope.

Just not sure that kind of racing is possible for people on controllers (yep, I know some are v good, but suspect they have to pretty much live on the game to stay up there).

I use bumper cam. I used to use hood but switched a couple of weeks after gt7. I found I was quicker with judging apexes and turning points. Took me a while in race to get used to the limited view when in close traffic but every view has its compromises.
I’ve never used a controller but I know there’s plenty of quick drivers that do, and I know for a fact that many in that race yesterday were on a controller so it’s definitely possible.

That's really interesting as I found bumper cam a bit less accurate to judge car width, hence why I use roof.

I can see that if you get used to bumper cam it could be great since you've got better visibility, so might practice a bit!

Also, you drove well. Just a tiny, split second mistake which everyone does plenty of times 🙂

They should show a few videos like this to new online players, just to show them how it can be with a bit of respect.

One of the funniest, but also most depressing and confusing, things i often encounter, including last night, is people who just will not allow a pass, even if they’ve messed up, they’ll whack you as you go by, often wiping themselves out too, early in the race, even on the first lap, so both you and the hothead go from p3 and P4, say, all the way to the back, instead of just switching positions. This game could be used as an IQ test.

Do they think this is ‘racing’ I wonder? If they’re coming from GTA or NFS type stuff maybe a lot of them do...

Am i right in thinking the Nurb Gr4 race night be good for trying to get SR back to S? Wondering if there might be a lot of spread in the field so you effectively end up time trialling on your own? Or do races there tend to get messy?

Would imagine a packed first minute then between top running away and many players going off for a reason or another, it would be similar to time trial.

Nope, no issues. 5 laps hardly shows any tire wear on RH, it's on RH right? Maybe if it was on RS.

I think you're overselling the difficulty of a controller a bit lol (or underselling the difficulty of a wheel).

They're both as hard as eachother, both in terms of control and pace. You keep putting yourself down for being on a controller but trust me man, with a game like GT you're hardly experiencing a handicap at all, the only downsides I'd say come from managing tyre wear.

These types of races are possible, and very common, with a gamepad. You don't have to put any more hours into the game to find them than you would using a wheel.

Thanks for this video 👍🏻 Some good fair but hard racing. I’ve been trying to learn how to drive GTR car from it.

How do people drive through the COD at 120mph?
Been struggling with GR4 cars so spent some time practicing (2/3 hours) with a mix of cars and especially the GTR. Fastest lap I’ve done is 1.48.2 in the GTR but lapped in the Aston Martin a 1.47.6 which I would say is about where my talent limit is (normally I’m about 3 seconds off the top times). Did a race in Aston Martin and i was pretty much getting out done for pace by the 155s and GTRs. Started P12 and finished P8 only due to two quitting and two who eithe saw the COD or spun somewhere else.

Took some tips of @xMAXIx79 on how to drive the GTR, but not sure they worked? Bit late in the day for this but these are my laps I’ve done today. The GTR is the car I want to improve on so I’m at least able to compete near the top of the race. GTR lap starts at 2mins if you don’t want to watch the full videos. Any tips on what I’m doing wrong with this car would be helpful. Thanks.

DR points, which I believe this is @Sven Jurgens domain.
If I gain positions by someone quitting ahead of me do I still gain DR points?
And lastly, if I gain 4 positions in a race, I gain those DR points, but then finish 9th/16th do I lose some DR points aswell for not been in the top half?
