The math doesn't care where you finish.

If you finish 3rd in a 12 player room you give DR to 2 drivers and get DR from 9 drivers.
If what you get from the 9 is less than what you give to the 2, you lose DR.

From the 9 you get 9x80 - 9x(avg DR difference with the 9) = 720 - 9 x (avg DR difference with the 9)
To the 2 you give 2x80 + 2x(avg DR difference with the 2) = 160 + 2 x (avg DR difference with the 2)

Say the 2 that finish in front of you have 10K more DR than you, you give 120 points. (2x80 - 2x(10K/500))
Then if the 9 behind you avg at 34K DR less than you, you get 108 points and lose 12 DR overall. (9x80 - 9x(34K/500))

If you're A+, any DR C and DR D drivers will only give you 1 point. Anyone 40K DR lower than you essentially doesn't count (unless they finish ahead of you and take 160 DR from you)

A+ to D rooms is multi-class racing.
Even in the huge A+ range, A+ at 90K doesn't get any points from beating an A+ at 50K...
Interesting reading that.
I can see what PD are doing by trying to close/keep the gap between all drivers quite close and stoping the top drivers from gaining an advantage by racing lower drivers, but then as @NikNakTobasco says, what the point in racing if your in a lower lobby and losing DR even though you finish in the top 3. I can see it’s a tricky balance to get right, but then I think once PS5s become more accessible or they can mix PS4 & PS5 together, the lobbies should become more populated with your own rank.

It looks like we’ve all been having the same experiences. I was hopelessly D/S three weeks ago. The Nurburgring GP is what got me going three weeks ago (I think?) but even then it seemed like C was a long shot for me. The last couple of tracks have treated me very well, so I expect to come back to earth soon. If nothing else, I’ve learned the value of good preparation. I just wish that BoP allowed for more variety in these races.

Good luck, y’all!
One of the reason I avoid races where I struggle as it no fun battling at the back losing your DR. You run a second account?
I shouldn’t really care about DR as all it does is just ranks your ability on the game, but when penalties are not working and you have dirty drivers that can influence your DR it’s not worth the risk on your main account.
Brands next week in the Gr4 are a great combo that I like. Should get some decent results, but I’ve just got a new brake pedal so braking is all new again for me.

Yes, my first six weeks or so of online racing were similar. After I dared to try a daily race for the very first time (I can't even remember my ranking, does it start on DR D, or even DR E?), at first I did only races A, had some good results, some wins, and my DR quickly went up. My first "big win" came, rated SR C, in a GR3 race, with the Audi (pre major updates, nobody had told me that this thing was basically undriveable, so I didn't notice🤣). I was still using x and square buttons, TC 1 or 2, and countersteer assistant, but got rid of these one after another while climbing up in the B ranks. That's where I'm stuck at the moment. Because: actual racing.
When I look at my stats, they seem to be quite decent. Especially having around 60% Top5 finishes.
That brings me to the conclusion that my results rely heavily on qualifying. I generally take the necessary time to get a decent quali lap, usually start in the front half of the grid, often P5 or better, and I benefit from that in my final results. But my actual race pace is still not good enough to make the jump into the A ranks. As soon as I get involved in heavy battle action with other drivers: nerves, and mistakes galore. That's the part I'll be working on.
My first races were an absolute disaster. One of the maggiore layouts in gr4. I was all over the shop! Constantly crashing, hitting people, just a mess.

My first races were chaos by design: Sixteen Renault Clios driven by low DR drivers around Tsukuba. I've saved several replays for a laugh..
But it was that week when I learned my main rules:
1. Good qualifying to avoid the mess
2. (I know I've said that more than once already) Always stay inside in the first corner! 😎

Any additional tips are highly appreciated...😉

I ran a bunch (and I mean a BUNCH) of trial laps with that this morning. I love how it handles but it was easily 5mph slower on the straights. I didn’t bother taking it into a race, but I know that “race speed” is different than “trial speed,” so I should have tried it.

I’m going to avoid Saturday night, but I’ll run some races tomorrow and see if I can make an A rating, against my better judgment. I really am only a couple good finishes from getting it. I know I’m not actually that good yet, but this track agrees with me.
A couple weeks ago you were lamenting being a low B and wanted to go back to C (or was it C to D?). Now, you're on the cusp of A. It's called progress!

We're ALL in similar boats, mate. Unless you're an alien, the DR is going to track similar depending on the races for the week. I can tell you I had massive success at Daytona in the 787B and also had great success at the Glen, finishing quite well the majority of the time; Nurb GP course was good, too. But, I also have tracks I do not get along with. That's why I have the second account, is to be able to race with people and not be a liability to the real A+s out there.

Brands is not a good one for me at all. But, I am looking forward to Bathurst for race A as Bathurst is not a good one for me either (I seem to be saying that a lot  ) but it'll be fun to do on the #1 account without having to worry about messing up anyone else's DR|SR.

Good to hear you're enjoying the tool :)
Note that the intent is not to estimate the DR score, but to give the range of possible values in which the score actually is.
I'll continue to make changes to the tracker if more players start to use it. The tool is probably still rather unknown. For example, i don't think any notable GT7 youtuber* mentioned it (which i think is an editorial missed opportunity).
By the way, you're by far the player who posted the most rankings (302 so far).

*: Found one video at least :)

Kudos to @Geauxgreddy

Thanks for the Kudos. All puns intended!! :D:cheers:

Everything is based on finishing ahead of everyone of lower DR not to lose points and possibly gaining points by finishing ahead of those with higher DR.

In theory a good system. Unfortunately complicated by multiple accounts. I'm guessing the higher the DR the more alt accounts there are. If someone has 3 accounts in the top 3%, that makes it harder for everyone else to get in.

I'm not against alt accounts. It's just not good for keeping stats pure.

Not at all. There’s plenty of spots left. Hardly any race ever has half a grid of A+ let alone 16. Issues are caused by what appears to be a tiny concurrent user base resulting in races with with the bottom driver being 50k DR less than the top.

I'm not generally a fan of alt accounts but it is what it is, honestly the biggest problem with the system they have is the low player count. This all works really well if you have full lobbies of people with similar DR levels who will give and take to and from each other.

But when lobbies are as wide as A+ to C sometimes depending on the times you're playing and rank you are, it turns it into a mess as stated where you can be racing only to lose.

Kind of where i was going with it, in Americas B/S and lower is full all the time. The lack of higher DR is due to alt accounts. Full A+ lobbies would require racing against all the main and alt accounts.

I don't really see it. I am a mid-B/S driver and play on weekdays at night (not much) and on weekends in the morning and sometime at night.

PS5, good connection via cable, relatively stable DR and very stable SR:S. Austria = Europe Region.

I would say 90 % of my races are all B/S. No exeption. Only since i'm moving forwards a bit i have races with 50-60 % B/S with the rest A/S, A/A and sometimes one A+ in the front.

So i don't really get the thing with the "low player count" and the "all spread skill levels" in daily lobbies.

?

A healthy player count would mean you wouldn't see this at all, especially in evenings / weekends etc. that you're playing.

B ranking is the most populated on the game and even running races across this week I'm frequently in the grids with the same people. Nothing inherently wrong with that but it shows that numbers of people playing in the most populated ranking are limited.

A healthy count would very rarely see a spread beyond one ranking in a race.

While it's anecdotal, I very rarely saw it in Sport.

I’m a bit confused as to how an alternative account will stop you from moving up the ranks? If you have 3 accounts that are all the same DR rating you can only play on one at a time so I don’t seen an issue there. The issue starts when these with alternative accounts who crash there DR rating on purpose just so they can race in a lower rated lobby. This is then where these drivers are taking away the DR points from others who are trying to climb the ranks.
I have 2 accounts, but both are B/S rated and I drive both accounts equally. I’ve seen some alt account who are out for full on revenge and only use it to destroy others. That’s when bans need to applied.

Ok. Didn't play GT Sport a lot. Can't remember. So it seems it's very subjective that i find that "normal".

A bit off track. I was talking about A+ and higher lobbies specifically. Lower DR lobby are full for me on PS4 in America. But I have heard from others PS5 is less full. But that would be on ...you know the shortage of PS5s.

I don’t understand your logic here at all.
I don't really see it

I don't get it either, there's not a cap on how many A+ players there can be so surely alts mean nothing?

A B player isn't stuck in B because some A+ players have alts, they're stuck in B because they are losing to other B drivers. It's a bell curve, it's harder to be consistently at the top, the only way to solve that issue is by having more people to fill out the ranks.

Sorry to cause more confusion. Let's drop it. I realiise now that this was not the forum to discuss this and it makes things more confusing. :embarrassed:

It's the right forum, but you have a mistake in reasoning and hints about it don't seem to get through to you. I have 2 A+ accounts and there is no logical reason why my two accounts are now blocking other players from getting into A or even A+.
I can only ride one rider at a time anyway... and all the other riders with a lower rating than mine benefit a lot if I make a mistake and finish behind them... That's the only thing that matters after all is.. how many points do I have.. how many points do the other drivers have and who comes where and destination.

Just recently upgraded my pedals to a load cell, and I’m wondering how long did it take people to adjust to the new type of braking?
Done a few laps on the time trial at daily b and my times are only a few tenths off my fastest time. I can tell my braking is better and more consistent, but having to relearn is making my lap times be a bit up and down.
Hoping I can adjust to this quickly as I like this week daily races. Bathurst no DR will probs be my testing and learning race.

What cars are people using for daily c? Fuel saving defo the quickest way round. Think a few top players will use the Megane.

Again a successfull week. The progress bar of my B rating towards A is now 75-80 % filled, although i turned away from the Nissan GT-R back to my Mustang in daily race B. Same performance, just the last double left before the final right in St.Croix is harder to get right.

I like racing besides other B/S drivers and often stay a bit passive, trying not to be to agressive, but one thing annoys me a bit: perfomancewise i can follow the ones around me and you don't always have to make a move because waiting for mistakes is enough a lot of times. But when i make a move, and i get on the inside line, not even going deep butt getting besides somebody and getting the apex right, they still completly ignore me and try to get the apex to. No awarenes that i am there. I sometimes feel guilty when we hit each other but i think i don't have to. They even get agressive sometimes. They think i only have the right to pass if i magically do it without them even noticing, without getting in their line? Not possible most of the time.

Seems like it happens a lot with the Alfas but that's maybe a stretch...

I'm in B/S lobbies too and get the same thing all the time - IMO if you're level before the breaking zone, you have every right to be there & the other driver needs to adjust accordingly.

So many people either think they can just drive through people or really don't have a clue what's going on around them, it can get pretty annoying but you just have to rise above it.

I'd rather have someone try to turn in on me (usually ends up worse for them) than people lunging from a mile back & using me for a brake!

I finally got a win for this week - after feeling pretty good all week on this track, felt like it was coming but I was starting to worry it wasn't!
