Ran a few Race A last night. Simply can't figure out how to turn this car consistently, but it's a combo I'm more appreciative of than RBR or Fuji. Getting great starts against most of the field for some reason as they seem against using TCS for the start. Got run off into the sand a couple of times in 1 race, but only 1 was deliberate and malicious. Other 2 races things spaced out kind of quickly. People running their lines and pushing to gain speed leads to mistakes. I found that out when I was able to keep the lead after turn 1 and everyone kept binning it behind me.
Time to go back and learn how to drive this thing properly. (I should be learning RBR and hybrid saving but I'm having more fun here)

Is literally no one doing race A? Went for my morning tea break race (lol) and copped a 7 player lobby, presumably compromised of just everyone online as it spanned across DR:

End up winning by over 25 seconds...I was really happy to see race A finally returning to what it should be (normal road car on a great track for a simple sprint race) but yeah it's not great when hardly anyone else is playing :/

It’s often a net code issue. On their screen they’re probably slotting in right behind you. I always try and leave a gap to ensure any lag doesn’t result in contact.
You're too nice. They deliberately tried to prevent me from overtaking. Had an aggressive driver do it to me today at Red Bull, he decided to drive full speed and ram me at the second corner just as I am turning right. Then he left the game.

No the car drives like every other car but is not affected when you hit that car or when you get in the way of that car. So every contact becomes a one sided event. You notice the collision, the other car doesn't. So basically they become like the AI

Interestingly PD has sort of added the one sided collision as a feature. If you stay on the brake in the braking zone while a punter flies into you from behind, you have a good chance his punt is denied and he simply slows down to match your pace. The difference with this bug is that the bugged car has this effect on the rest of the field:
ykxe1vom7vg41.gif

The other bug happens a lot as well and he is right it's kinda a dick move to take advantage of the head start it randomly gives someone.

Other bugs that still happen is the field stalling from a certain troublesome starter. One car won't go, auto-drive piles the rest up behind that car while the front departs. Then on go everyone gets released at the same time like this:
JqCxRqP.gif
a
First place got to drive off, 2nd place stalled causing a standing start at Spa
Car 3 does a left move to miss car 2 in front but accidently bumps car 4. Car 4 then gets really angry with car 3 and gives him a wallop he won't forget!! Car 3 then lands a cruncher into car 5 and chaos ensues like a mass riot. All the time, Car 2 driver is sat enjoying listening to the radio, oblivious of the carnage behind. The End. True story.

Apologies i'm a bit of a night owl due to my work, jumped on from 4am - 7am, did some A,B & C Races.......wasn't expecting full lobbies or many A+/A rated drivers but jeez......6 or 7 in both my race C's (which i won by over 40 seconds), 8 - 10 in Race B (which i really thought would be busier, i was 2nd both times)....so headed to Race A which i never do and actually quite enjoyed it. Lobbies were almost full and i had some good racing with a german guy, he beat me first race but i got to grips with the car in between the next two and beat him fairly comfortably. Managed to get my time down from 1.51 first attempt to a 1.47....which I'm actually fairly impressed with, like i said don't do many race A's as I've always had the impression they were a bit of a lottery.
But yeah.......it seems rather dead, worse than last week. Does anyone know the player base numbers between PS4 & PS5 ? I'm sure i read somewhere more people play on PS4 but I heard Kie say the other day 80% of player are on PS5......

NSX and RSR are very strong.
NSX. Take a bit of getting used too, its a bit eh.....slidey (if thats a word) but once you do its the fastest. 911 and WRX aren't bad either and both are easier to drive.
Thank you very much!

I haven’t really had time to race so far this week, I dont have the NSX and I hate the RSR, so Ill probably do the WRX like I did last time this combo came up

NSX, Supra, RSR, Mclaren, Z4 are all valid options. For me personally the Supra is the fastest(and easiest to drive), qualified 1:29.1 with it. Whats fast for someone else might not suit you at all. Ive played RBR a LOT and have ran laps with all these cars. For me NSX was absolutely hardest to control on Dualsense.

Race 2 sees me in a room with @Bullwinkle right behind me on the grid. P7 and P8 respectively. Again, the race starts ok, but on the end of lap 1 it all goes wrong for me. A driver in front of me hits another driver off track. They then stop to let them by. I thought they were up to speed and run right into the back of them. Another penalty to me this time for 2 seconds. I get why I got it, and I should have tried to avoid it better, but it's too late for that now. I finish P9 and decide to go again.
I got clobbered on that race. I don’t know what it was but it felt like I had a target on my back! I ran another right after but got an easier lobby and finished P2. I think my DR is teetering towards high B again so if I win I get a hard lobby and if I lose I get an easier one.

After getting beaten up at RBR I decided to chill out on Race A and got beaten up even worse! This may be one of those weeks where it doesn’t pay to be a conscientious driver . . .

Any advice on getting the WRX to behave?

Oh well... Race A. I've got the MT figured out (for that car and track), but in my last race I got swallowed up in T1, and from then on it was a fight for dear life. Lots of SR A and B drivers in the lobby, and it showed. Would have finished mid-pack, P4 or P5 maybe, but got rear-ended by an SR B driver from Scandinavia, P8, no penalty for him. Two or three more races like this, and I'll be back to DR B (and SR A, probably).

Edit: yeah, right, as expected. One more race A, and now I'm SR A, and DR B only one more bad race away. This time I even started P2. Got rammed off track in T1 again, and seven or eight times from then on. Finished last after being shoved far into the dunes. Not a single time I deliberately pushed another car (honestly!). Maybe I should have done that, but it seems like I can't handle these kind if races. If I don't escape the pack early, I'm a sitting duck with a target on my back. Doesn't help that there seems to be no damage in the race, as far as I noticed.
So, done with Race A. Such a shame, I really liked the car/track combo.

Got a podium first time out at race B, on the backup account with the trusty Z4. Started 7th but got my elbows out a bit the first couple of laps. Usually I'm a bit too polite and everyone else isn't. A few more decent results and I'll have both accounts up in DR B.

I presume that’s the ‘18, not the ‘97?

I’ve run Race A only three times and was completely ruined by a D/E driver two of those times!!!! Last race he took me out on the start! I didn’t even get to T1 before my race was over! The lobbies are so small I’m stuck racing with this clown. I think I need to wait for a different time of day. So much for my Insomniacs Racing League.

Yes, lobbies were small in my races, too. (not insomniac league, but lunchbreak racing again) Maximum was eleven drivers. Ratings from A+/A to B/C. When in the second race today I found myself the only driver on the grid with an SR S rating, I instantly knew what I was up to. And now I'm a has-been...😬. No way to get the SR up again in Race A.

But enough of my useless complaining. I'll quit sport mode for the time being and concentrate on switching to MT for good. The latter provides some motivation at the moment, the former doesn't.

I can't see what Kie said being true at all - I don't think he has any way to know what he's talking about anyway. Makes no sense for a console with ongoing availability problems to have 80% of the playerbase of a game that released on a console that's been available for nearly a decade.

In any case, it's clear that crossgen is quite urgently needed now. I did a race A last night that popped with 10 people, down to DR C - and not even at a ridiculous time of day.

I suppose that's to be expected when PD offer no incentive for people to actually continue playing their game though!

Try and gell with a MR car. If you are in a FR machine you get nerfed off on corner entry, the MR cars ofcourse, have outstanding turn in and folks are just NOT ready for you to pull up where you need to on entry in a FR car. I have been hit in every race, and I have entered about 8 or 9, I am plety fast enough (29.3 qualy and low 30's in the race) but slower corners the MR cars are pushing me off.

I've switched from the 911 to the 4C for Race B. I've found it's backend is less twitchy on power coming out of the corners and I can attain very similar lap times.

I've managed to get my quali time down to 1:29.6, so I'm getting good grid positions when I'm amongst other B drivers but mid pack when there's a bunch of As and that's proving difficult for me to maintain good race pace. All in all, having fun on the RBR this week!

New poster here. If there is a thread better suited to my questions please let me know.
I need advise on how to survive a scrum, where I usually end up on the side of the track. This week Race B has seen my DR Rating drop from low C to D.
I recall reading when you leave a race in progress your DR will take a hit. Is it better to leave if you're going from mid pack to last or stay and finish the race?

Definitely stay and finish the race.

Here’s a more detailed explanation:

Hi Andy, Like what many say, always finish the race, two reasons

Others will always rage quit or try to ram their way to the front (causing carnage), and if you beat other higher rated drivers you'll get extra points to your rating

I'd be interested to see a clip of this glitch, as it's the first I've heard of it.

When you say his car becomes an unmovable object, do you mean it is stationary on track for everyone else? Meanwhile for him, he sees himself as moving but everyone else is stationary?
He sees himself moving normally but everybody else experiences him as an unstoppable bulldozer.

Here is the first time we encountered the glitch back in the GTS days, at 4m15s it shows a PIP of the glitched driver's view vs everybody else's view:

Lobbies with the top 5 or 6 being A+ has been tough this afternoon.

That's quite interesting. Thanks for the clip!

Could be a issue with data reconciliation (?). Normally if the game experiences lag server side, it reconciles it by taking the majority rule i.e. if 11 consoles report all cars positions the same, but 3 consoles report differently, the report from the 11 gets pushed to the 3, over-ruling what they had reported. Only in this instance the 1 console can't accept the reconciliation properly, resulting in it having a conflict and displaying 2 versions of the cars (including its own), 1 version of which doesn't move as the majority don't recognise or render them, so they just become immovable objects.

It has been an "interesting" day in sports mode.

After my not-so-great experience in Race A, i concentrated on practicing MT. I found out that I was actually faster with the Porsche on RBR with MT than with AT (which doesn't mean: actually fast); so I decided to try it in some races to get the used to the extra workload under real racing conditions. Although that meant most likely tanking my DR. Which I did. Back down to B now. After being relegated to SR A in the previous races A, I found myself in SR A and B lobbies where most guys were driving like lunatics. But with the mindset of not giving a **** about my DR anymore, I actually had more fun than in previous weeks, when I was always anxious not to lose my A rating. Three races, mostly finishing mid-pack, I got punted a bit, had a ridiculous 2 sec. penalty (when I braked cleanly at T2 but then got punted into another car which then went off track), and of course made some mistakes with the gear shifting. But that part got better, and I feel way more comfortable now with MT (still not THERE yet).

What bugs me more is my SR rating. I don't see how I can get it back up to S again in this weeks races. Way too many incidents in races A and B, and Gr1 in Fuji is definitely above my talent right now.

What's your quali time like on B with the Porsche?
