What's your quali time like on B with the Porsche?
You didn't ask me but I'm just a hair under 29 (though I know I could take two or three tenths off if I grinded it) and it's been starting me 9th to 11th. Being a very low A on the cusp of B is placing me in lobbies full of A+ drivers. It sucks. RBR is always where I shine but not today.

Once baseball season is over, I'll be able to play evenings, which I'd imagine is peak time and has more players with a similar rating to me.

I think it's 1:29:7. Too slow.

Considering the top 911 on the leaderboards is 1:28, that's not awful. I hate going to the meta for the race, so I'm going to stick with swapping between the 911 and the 4C.

Just got mine down to 1:29.518, should sometimes get me an extra spot or two.

Is this game now dead or what? I've been mashed with Bs, Cs and even Es last night as A driver, it wasn't a pleasant sight. Not good.

It has been an "interesting" day in sports mode.

After my not-so-great experience in Race A, i concentrated on practicing MT. I found out that I was actually faster with the Porsche on RBR with MT than with AT (which doesn't mean: actually fast); so I decided to try it in some races to get the used to the extra workload under real racing conditions. Although that meant most likely tanking my DR. Which I did. Back down to B now. After being relegated to SR A in the previous races A, I found myself in SR A and B lobbies where most guys were driving like lunatics. But with the mindset of not giving a **** about my DR anymore, I actually had more fun than in previous weeks, when I was always anxious not to lose my A rating. Three races, mostly finishing mid-pack, I got punted a bit, had a ridiculous 2 sec. penalty (when I braked cleanly at T2 but then got punted into another car which then went off track), and of course made some mistakes with the gear shifting. But that part got better, and I feel way more comfortable now with MT (still not THERE yet).

What bugs me more is my SR rating. I don't see how I can get it back up to S again in this weeks races. Way too many incidents in races A and B, and Gr1 in Fuji is definitely above my talent right now.
You’ll get it soon enough, and it’ll be worth it. Once you are comfortable with the shift points you can experiment with short shifting or running it up during your qualifying laps. You’ll find all kinds of creative ways to shave time off.

Any advice on getting the WRX to behave?

Your meant to do this double shifting thingy that Digit demonstrates here . First corner down to 2nd then quickly up to 4th, then at the hairpin down to 1st then quickly up to 3rd.

I can't see what Kie said being true at all - I don't think he has any way to know what he's talking about anyway. Makes no sense for a console with ongoing availability problems to have 80% of the playerbase of a game that released on a console that's been available for nearly a decade.

That's what i thought too. I'm pretty sure i read that the majority of people play gt7 on ps4, thought it was on here.

While im here might as well mention my racing experience today. Race A is awesome but its fraught with danger and losing DR/SR too easily. Did have some good races though. Race B kinda fun too, I'm just not that good round RBR but was nice trying out different cars. Race C......kinda gutted this race isn't more popular, but i know why it isn't. It's a pain to manage the hybrid, the dirty air if you're close to someone is just unbearable. I did though manage to get into the 1.22's which aside from giving me a slight sense of achievement, ultimately means very little. Would probably start top 3 in most races, so easy DR gain but the race would be boring as hell. I found trying to get into the 1.22's on TT more fun than the races i did this evening. Also had some weird stuff going on with my wheel, lost all FFB in one race while 2nd, couldn't steer and throttle was jammed open. And the other weird thing was.....its pretty hard to explain this but my camera view went 180, so i was facing the wrong way down the track but when i accelerated in 1st, 2nd etc i would go backwards (from my view)......happened last week in race c as well.

What bugs me more is my SR rating. I don't see how I can get it back up to S again in this weeks races. Way too many incidents in races A and B, and Gr1 in Fuji is definitely above my talent right now.

This is a crazy suggestion but if you wanna get your SR back up this week I'd maybe try Race C. The field is quite spread out, its 13 laps so more sectors to boost SR......just accept you'll finish last, it won't be a pleasant experience but its the best way this week to get your SR back up.

In my first race with mostly A drivers, my 1:29:7 had me starting P13. The last one in a DR B lobby i was starting P7.

Another thing that I noticed in yesterdays daily races: There's always two or three drivers without a qualifying time at the end of the grid. Sometimes one of them is a rather quick driver doing his personal "last to first" challenge. Although I understand the appeal of it, I find that a bit disrespectful towards the other drivers. But that's not a big problem. The real problem here, that I experienced more than once, is that some of these drivers feel completely entitled to overtake other drivers no matter what. "I'm faster, so I'll shove you out of the way if you don't step aside." As opposed to the pro Youtubers, who can do that with their skill alone (hats off to Tidgney).
This stuff ruined at least one of my races on RBR yesterday, and maybe one more where I didn't watch the replay to see where the guy who shoved me off track was coming from.

I moved up the DR C!! I’m driving the NSX in the RBR. My qualifying time is only 1:32 but I pulled a couple of 1:29 in the race.
with this progress you’ll shoot through C and be up to B in no time. I’m heading the other way, wave as we pass.

My SR has tanked a bit after doing a few too many race Bs. Some of that is unpenalised contact but I also seem to get dinged for track limits at least once a race (invariably the penultimate corner). May need to switch to race A and go slow at the back for a couple of rounds, would like it back up to S for Friday & Saturday.

Same here. Thanks @LGBT_Barron for the tip with race C, I might try that, too.

VERY FRUSTRATING EVENING!
Had another 3 goes at Race B last night.
Race 1 - Started in 6th and worked my way up to 2nd passing some pretty quick drivers and having a great battle with 1st who started 4th. Someone on the 4th lap decided to use me as a brake and punted me into the gravel sending me back to 8th from 2nd. The same guy also punted 1st off in the last lap and finished 1st himself. In the one and a half laps I had to recover I managed to get back to 6th.
Race 2 - Bettered my time and started 5th. Ran a quiet race finishing 3rd with 1st and 2nd being 5+ seconds down the road.
Race 3 - Started 4th with the top 3s quali time being 7 tenths faster than me so expected to finish 4th and it be a white wash. by the end of the second lap I had managed an overtake after a bad few corners for 3rd giving me and the guy behind me a run on him. 2nd and 1st had too much pace for me so I finished 3rd.

Why I don't like this track without penalties, or typically in anything but F1 - every single corner is a lunge, divebomb, shoving opportunity. It just gets really tiring.

Yesterday was a tale of two different experiences.

Ran a few races A after work, and it was terrible. I was actually a little embarrassed by how sloppy and off pace i was. Blaming it on being a little tired, physically, from work.

Jumped back on after dinner for 6 or 7 more races, and it was completely different. I was able to run at my pace or better, and was much more on point with my turn ins and such.

It was a great evening of racing. Lobbies were generally equally split between A/S and B/S with an A+ or two a few times. I myself am a low to mid A driver myself.

Always nice to share the track with a team mate aswell....

Not sure why i can't just insert pics, have to do them as attachments. Been awhile, I'm probably doing it wrong lol

@Leon Kowalski what region are you in? I understand that Europe is usually stronger, whereas I'm in Canada so that could explain away why I'm experiencing better grid positions with a similar time to yours.

Anyone had issues with the lobbies when entering?
Last night I decided to jump on and do a few daily b‘s. 9.50pm lobby, the lobby crashed on the warm up page and then the next lobby failed to even load. I know it’s wasn’t my internet as my PS5 is hard wired, and on the test connection screen it showing like 95% green on the parameters and 30 ping

Ok, I saw the livery with “The Pit Crew” on it, so is that what TPC stands for? @sturk0167 was telling me about this the other day but I didn’t ask yet what the team acronym stands for.

I was having bad races Monday, but yesterday I had a bizarre quali time a full second quicker than usual for me. I’m now at 1:48.081 and it’s putting me near the front for my starts. My races are now a lot better and more fun in these mixed lobbies.

The D/E guy who was ruining things for me Monday is now a C/C driver, but I don’t know if he’s any cleaner. His quali time out him right behind me this morning and I was so worried about him behind me that I blew the second-to-last turn and let him by me to finish P3. That really irked me! I really REALLY didn’t want that guy to beat me again in a dirty race, and this time it was only my imagination that ran me off the road! More lessons learned every day!

Yeah, TPC - The Pit Crew, amongst other unofficial, internal meanings lol

I have done the same thing man, psyched myself out in many a race over the years.

per @nenkaai ...

Daily Races for next week (19/09/2022):
A - Monza No Chicane / Any Road Car <450 PS, >1300kg (5 Laps, 1x Tyre/Fuel, SS) - DR/SR back off
B - Trial Mt. / Gr.4 (5 Laps, 1x Tyre/Fuel, RM)
C - Daytona Road Course / Gr.3 (10 Laps, 9x Tyre, 1x Fuel, RH + RM mandatory)

can you believe it? a sprint race with medium tires???

and i reallllly do not understand switching A back and forth on ranked/unranked. the only real indicators are above the race, where it says 'no updates for sr / dr', but i can't imagine thats something every user reads every time.

I don't mind having SR/DR enabled for a tuning race - but I feel like it just doubles down on making people not bother.

I feel most aren't going to try and tune up a good car for a race that is ultimately meaningless. Not worth the time investment.

It's not dead at all. Each region has its busy times and its quiet times.

I'm DR:B on the NA (North America) side, and for me if I try to get a race past midnight, I'll see a mix of DR/SR, often with the odd DR:A+ and as low as DR: D. However, if I suit up between 4PM and 10PM, I'll get matched up with DR:B and A every time. It also depends on which race you're trying, as the majority of people will favour one race over the other two.

It just depends on who else is on in your region at that time.

I would recommend adding some of this -->🍺 to your racing repertoire. It will lower your inhibitions. 👍

Okay, but hear me out...

Give me Race A, Monza no chicane, 5 laps in the Willy's Jeep!
