Also life is a comedy and this is proof 🤣

When I started bottom of the grid, i gained 4 or 5 places. I improve my qualy time, start 7th and shoot myself in the foot turn 1, lap 1 🤣

Still ended up a fun race though and some close and clean racing, especially towards the end 🙂

I'm just beside myself with anger. After doing race A all day yesterday and working my way up towards the front with my quali laps, I discovered that you get rammed hard when you're near the front. So my SR dove to A yesterday for the first time basically every for me! I went in for one race today and started P4 and got dive-bombed at the corkscrew and now I'm down to SR B! ONE FREAKIN' RACE!!!!! So basically I have to choose between bleeding DR points to worse drivers, or outright dumping SR points to, well, worse drivers. Thanks PD. You make me want to quit this garbage forever.

Exactly what happened to me. Except that it was two races, not one. Before I've had lots of CRBs, which didn't help that much, obviously. Had one track limit pen that was my own fault, the rest was getting rammed, pushed or sideswiped around 13 or 14 times in the two races combined. Before I had been SR S since fighting back from the #Yamagiwa carnage.
PD have no clue how people behave in online games.

Same here. I run the daily B this week and got. the SR „A“ for the First Time. I was at 50.000 DR and just wanted to reach the A+ again. My quali Time ist about P250 in the world.
And after a Race with contact the SR went down to B and all my DR crashes from 50.000 zu 31.000. lost 19.000 DR in in ohne race.

Last race yesterday I Startes from Poleposition and did a perfect race in Front of all others and was winner. It only gave me +200 DR.

Why are the DR Point Not like 800-1200???

I honestly expect an Alfa bump party once again. The driving characteristics might not lead to better laptimes in qualifying, but they help a lot in race situations - braking late and accelerating out of corners.

Hope that I'm wrong this time, though.
I may have good news, i could not get the Alfa anywhere near the times i set in other cars. Only cars i managed to get under 2mins in were the GTR & The Lambo. But as a disclaimer please keep in mind i only did 5 laps in each car (Alfa, Lambo, GTR, TT, RCZ, GR40) and i doubt i nailed a lap in any of them.....But also another guy (part of the Dstinct Team set a 1.59.3 in the Megane Trophy)...

You may already know this, but It depends on the level of the drivers you beat. I posted a link a page or two ago for someone wanting to know the formula. It’s pretty brutal if you’re good and everyone else is not.

This must be true. I’m trying to run clean races and behave conscientiously, but I get killed by crazy drivers in race A. I’ve been losing so much DR that I decided to fight back a little bit just so I don’t come in last, and then I started losing SR instead. I didn’t realize how much because they don’t give you a meter to calculate it. Suddenly I was SR A, and then one bad race where I just got frustrated lost my mind and dropped to B.

It seems clear that I lost so much SR because I was getting penalized for being an aggressor in that last race. I deserved it. But if they can determine that, why can’t they penalize it any better?! I switched to Race B instead and have been running clean laps, but I accidentally hit someone who stopped on the apex because of a scrum. I got hit with a 2 second penalty. Again, my fault. But why is it that whenever people boot me out of their way (because I’m trying to be extra careful and a little slower) they don’t get any penalty? I hit someone, my car is damaged and I fly off the track while they go on just fine. They hit me? My car is damaged and I fly off the track while they go on just fine. It makes no sense!

The worst part for me now is that I’m honestly trying to be safe and fair, but I’m now stuck in B/B lobbies and it’s carnage. So I feel like I’m stuck in a downward spiral! If I don’t want to get clobbered and lose SR simply for “being in the way,” I need to sacrifice DR and come in last. Then I end out in lower lobbies with worse drivers who hit me even more and kill my SR which puts me in lower lobbies, and so on.

What kind of behavior does PD think they’re modeling here?!?! Clean drivers are NOT getting rewarded in any sort of way. A 50% CRB on $9,000 credits is no freakin’ incentive. People are motivated by top 5 finishes and do anything they can to get there so they can pad their DR. They don’t seem to care if they lost SR in the process. But the wrong things are incentivized and virtually nothing is penalized anymore other than ambiguous collision penalties.

The funny thing is that the No DR/SR Race As we’re pretty clean. People policed themselves. I think PD deluded themselves into thinking people will drive cleanly if they are unsupervised and they will police each other. But as soon as you as DR to the mix everyone gets way more aggressive. I don’t know what PD is thinking here, but they clearly aren’t playing their own freakin’ game!!!!

Rant over. For now.

And after all, I see that spanish driver who's name cannot be said, running wild in YT videos (and met him on track), not getting banned and still sporting an SR S rating. I don't get it.

Yes I know the formular. But newer thougt there would be 200 points for a perfect race. The other drivers were A and B DR rated.

@ Leon. I was with him in a race yesterday. Me on pole and he rammed about P6. The chat was full of negative comments. He understands the grey zones in the penalty system.

I think we may have been in the same A lobby last night...Were you driving a Civic? Ha!

Seriously, did you start P1 and sport a livery with a UPC code? If so, yeah, you were getting mobbed the whole race. I raced quite a few A races yesterday and that lobby was in the top 3 of murdery. I dubbed it the 'Pat the prat' lobby. As the night matured, the races got more and more medieval.

Yesterday I found 2 seconds in my QT by watching the qualis of my closest competitors and adjusting my brake sensitivity. The last time I focused on a road car race my best quali was in the +26K position on the leader board. Last night, near the end of the week, I was at 1694.

I have given up fighting the rankings. I race as clean as I can and don't get my elbows out until warranted. I don't bump-to-pass or run people wide. If I take the inside line, I will stay there. If I hit you, it was a mistake on my part and I will often give back the position, or at least try. However, when I look at my stats, it says only about 30% of my races are "clean".

I understand it can be hard to do, but if you're able to ignore the ratings, you'll enjoy yourself more. :)

Sadly PD doesn't ban for bad behavior and the penalty system is easily gamed.

DR is rather meaningless anyway. There aren't enough players to make it a useful matchmaking tool and with the highly varied DR rooms, a disconnect can wipe out the gains of dozens of races. I'm at 61K DR now in GT Sport, a disconnect in a weak room can easily cost me over 2,000 DR (up to 3,040 with 19 low DR players in the room), while a victory is down to a few dozen points at most.

However with the low player base, just being DR B guarantees getting in the top split in matchmaking. Even in prime time I get matched with D/S nowadays. So DR doesn't matter at all!

@Bullwinkle

I'm sure most of us here, can say we've had days like this. It can be miserable when nothing seems to be going the right way, and your stuck racing really aggressive or downright dirty people.

Sometimes, no matter how much you want to race, you just need to do something else. Run the time trial, try to improve your pace/qt by running qt laps for the daily races, or what I've gotten back into. Which is personal time trials at the nord, with my favorite cars. Basically do or find something else, that will improve your skills or that is simply fun for you. I've played this game nearly everyday and not done daily races for a month or more

Bit of a rambling, sorry lol

I tried to say hello to you but by the time I got my chat window open the pre-race ended and my window closed. This happens to me often! I wasn’t ignoring you, it’s just that PD doesn’t seem to want us to use all that stupid waiting time chatting with each other.

Thank you for noticing that particular race. I thought maybe I was just being too paranoid, but I really felt like I had a bullseye rather than a UPC on my back. I really hoped that starting P1 would help, but T1 on lap 1 is just a mess. I lost so much SR trying to defend myself that I got stuck in an even lower lobby the next race, after which I retired from Race A for good. Now I’m doing B races and letting everyone by so I can focus on running clean laps. I may do race C today from the back just so I can get a bunch of laps by myself all at once.

Edit: hey, did you say you can adjust brake balance in race A, or do you mean trail braking?

It’s funny, but I’ve started doing a lot more quali laps for the races in the hopes that better starting positions would make things easier in my, and I’m the process I’ve found I really like doing time trials. I may follow your lead here.

Funny, but I think I have Leon or someone in a similar situation the same advice last week. . . . I think there would be a lot more stress with an alternate account, which I don’t even have a clue how to do, so I guess I’ll just have to chill out.
But I want my SR back to S! (stomping my foot on the floor 🤣)
👆🏻 Leon gets it!

It's very easy. Go to the PS main menu. Go to your user avatar on the top right. Go to switch user. Add user.
You just need another email address. Enter the game with your new account.
I know you can have at least 4 accounts. Maybe more on PS5.
Alt accounts certainly make it easier to not give a damn. :D

Do I have to start game progress all over again?

Do I have to start game progress all over again?
Yeah, but you only have to finish menu 8 to be eligible for online races.
When I started my second GT7 account, I think it took about 2 hours to finish the 8 menus.
I think you'll notice that most of your times will reflect how much you've improved since you initially started on your main account.

Ok, so after a few races last night, I ran one good Race B (no CRB) today and got back up to A. Then I started from the back of Race C twice and got one CRB. I didn’t lose so much DR as I thought but had to suffer the indignity of getting lapped a lot. And I am now B/S again. Of course, you already know that I’m a b.s. driver anyway, but I just want to be in better lobbies.

Lesson learned.

I adjusted the brake sensitivity through the menu on my direct drive, and I adjusted the ~preload~ of the actual pedals. As far as I know one cannot adjust the brake bias in these BoP races?

If I remember right, you had a couple assassins, and I had a couple assassins in that race. By the end of the race, you were battling my assassins and I was battling yours. Sad to say, but the lobbies I entered later were worse. Don't worry about the chat, the only thing slower than my lap times are my chat skills.

I’m happy to say I’m back on track, but I’m not doing Race A again. Too much incidental contact leads to more and more and then I’m suddenly a raving lunatic looking for blood. Plus I hate FF cars anyway. I’m looking forward to next week’s A race though, just for the novelty of it.

Great advice. Another thing you can do is just go into multiplayer and find a decent lobby, which can be difficult i know..but when you find one you can try different cars, tracks etc.....and you don't have the worry of losing DR. Or set up your own lobby and get some practice for next weeks races, try out different cars, get a head start on everyone else etc....which is pretty much what I've done the past few days.

It's still a shame. This race could be great fun. Even with a little shoving, three-wide action, paint-scratching. If it just didn't kill your ratings with even the slightest contacts, seemingly.

I agree. I liked seeing wrinkled fenders on the cars during the race, but it brought out the worst in people. I think the thing that bothered me most is that it is so easy to lose places but nearly impossible to gain places. If I decided to take T1 as clean as possible I’d get passed by eight cars and would never be able to pass them all again unless they took each other out. It made me feel a bit helpless, which I guess is what brought out the mad dog in me and got me in trouble.

I can avoid trouble makers in Race B and they usually throw themselves off the track and out of contention. In Race A if they fly off the track they just keep on going and don’t lose any time. That turn just before the corkscrew, for example, should have gravel pits because the open dirt lets people divebomb, swing wide and race along in the dirt up the hill without any disadvantages, no track limit penalties, no collision penalties, nothing. At Big Willow they at least had the decency to slow you down if you went into the sand.

Still trying to figure some things out about the dailies, maybe one of you can help with my lame questions.

Sometimes I can only rent a car for the dailies - there is no buying option in Brand Central. For example, I have no option to buy this week's road car (the '97 Civic), nor can I purchase Alfa Romeo's 155. Neither is in the showroom of their respective manufacturer. Why would I buy when I can rent? I like to add liveries, that's all.

Are any of you using track shoes rather than socks? Just wondering if they add or detract. My driving style at Laguna left me with a blister on my brake foot after a dozen or so races Friday night. I have a tendency to rotate my ankles when trail braking - like I am trying to use my toes to wrap around the brake pedal. Don't know why I do that, but it raises a blister.

Yeah, I am a middle aged man with a blister on his foot from playing a video game. Didn't see that coming.

The Dealer Central showroom contains only cars from 2001 and on.

The Civic only appears in the Used Car Dealership, the 155 only in Legends Cars.

I use these. Didn't buy them specifically for this, they used to be my autocross shoes.

I have an old pair of zero-drop running shoes that I use. They are basically like wrestling shoes, which are basically like track shoes, so I haven’t bothered buying a game-specific shoe yet. But yeah, if I go socks-only my feet give me grief as well. I have also used flip flops and shower slip-ons, so the particular purpose of the shoe isn’t as important to me as having a very slim sole and adding just a little bit of support when I’m working the pedals. The guy on Sim Racing Garage wears Vanns.

The main reason I do this is that it makes feathering and modulating the pedals a lot easier if I have some kind of smooth platform that will slide a little in the pedals while preventing my toes from gripping: exactly the problem you are having. Find anything that works, but I’d recommend a minimal sole for maximum feel.

per @nenkaai ...

Daily Races for next week (19/09/2022):
A - Monza No Chicane / Any Road Car <450 PS, >1300kg (5 Laps, 1x Tyre/Fuel, SS) - DR/SR back off
B - Trial Mt. / Gr.4 (5 Laps, 1x Tyre/Fuel, RM)
C - Daytona Road Course / Gr.3 (10 Laps, 9x Tyre, 1x Fuel, RH + RM mandatory)

can you believe it? a sprint race with medium tires???

and i reallllly do not understand switching A back and forth on ranked/unranked. the only real indicators are above the race, where it says 'no updates for sr / dr', but i can't imagine thats something every user reads every time.
Any idea if we can tune the cars in Race A?

I believe so. I've been testing some different ones. There really aren't many cars that are capable of meeting the regulations.
A lot of the ones that I thought would be good, just can't make the minimum weight (1300 kg/2866lbs)
