Eh, I'm not sure if I'll do Daily Race A this week. Yeah, I know the combination could be because of how the Japanese GP was just this weekend, but it just seems a bit chaotic to me. I like the track, but I would've preferred the car be something like an iteration of the Honda NSX, with possible limits on PP/power/weight so you could tune it, much like that race at Alsace - Village where you could tune a BMW M3 E46.

Definitely. What they needed to do was make it a wet race where 75% happened behind the safety car. :-(

Did a lot of Race B last week and was pleasantly surprised how clean the racing was (at least by the debased standards of Gran Turismo!). Was barged out of the way a few times, but there were no race ending dive bombs into corners. You could actually brake for a corner without nervously waiting for the punt to pass move! Was mainly in B/S lobbies for the first time (just got promoted from C).

I did a lot of race b also and I'm also a B/S rated. Most of the races were fairly clean like you said with just a little incidental contact, but last night there was some clown in both races I entered, I qualified 5th and he was 4th, I was right behind him for the first 3 laps until he finally caught up to the 3rd place guy and basically bumped him off track, I got around him on the next lap and was in second place with him behind me, on the last lap he dive bombed me on the last chicane which shoved me into the wall, he ended up second and I ended up 11th. He was also in the next race qualified 3rd and I was 4th, again I followed him most of the race and he never got close to another car without forcing them off the road. I don't understand how he can keep his rating when it was clear that those 2 races were just the way he drives.

Friends, as of this evening I now stand before you as an A ranked driver for the first time in my life!

I'm sure that won't last very long, but for now just let me enjoy the moment . . .
Well done mate!
I am getting close, the Spa daily race suited me, but no cigar yet for me ;)

I had great luck with Autopolis last week and so far Brands Hatch this week. So far so good at least, but . . .
Congrats mate.

Playing more casually now here so hoping I'm dropping to C soon so I can be at the front
Congratulations. I'm on the opposite trajectory right now to take a close look at where I came from... 🤣
I’m pretty sure the same will happen to me soon. I was nearly dropped down to C a couple weeks ago, so I think I’ll enjoy the benchmark for a day and then slowly fade back down to the B where I belong!

The biggest change for me at this point is learning how to drive in traffic. I’m still not great, but I’m doing much better and holding my own.

Now if I could just figure out how to run even one clean lap at Brands Hatch . . .

Hey there. I bought a DriveHub a few years ago to use my Logitec DFGT with my PS4. It makes your console think you have a different but similar wheel. I used it for GT Sport and it worked awesome. I have a G29 now so I don't need it anymore and if you want it I'll sell it to you for like 50 Canadian loonies plus shipping. Looks like they have your wheel and GT7/PS5 listed on the DriveHub site.
Thanks for the offer. Been traveling so didn’t respond earlier. I am just going to stick with PS4 and in game support for my wheel. When next version of GT comes out I will just spring for a natively supported wheel. I am glad the drive hub exists but I just don’t feel like dealing with non supported stuff… I have heard the feedback is different thru hub etc. At some point I have to get a direct drive wheel and load cell pedals and will give me an excuse.

I likewise tend to edge into A on weeks where I get on well with the track/car combo, then drop back to B shortly after. Got back to A Sat night. Think I could have a good week at brands hatch though if I can just settle on a car. Lambo is my quickest in quali but I've got no chance of keeping that on the track for a whole race.

Think I saw you in a few late night races at spa when I was trying to get back into A as well. Sorry if my bad driving affected you in any of them!

Well, I'm nothing if not consistent!

My optimal is a 22.9, which does make it slightly more painful.

I avoided Spa all week, so you didn’t see me there. That Lambo is always a handful, but the MR cars rotate so nicely through the infield. I’m using the 911 for now, but I may switch it up soon.

So far the 911 is the only car that I can drive securely and with decent speed round Brands Hatch.

BTW I've done a healthy dose of #lunchbreakracing, three races behind the pack at Brands Hatch, an I'm back at SR S (sacrificed a lot of DR, but whatever). I can tell you that it sucks big time 🤣. It hurts to stay behind and keep a gap to the backmarkers, just to stay out of any mayhem, if you see how they are driving sometimes... in the third race I couldn't help myself anymore; I sneaked past P14 who had an off-track experience, and went racing from there on. Took P8 in the final corner from a guy who had been wildly blocking me for three laps. It was fun, but nerve-wracking. The course is so narrow, every overtake makes me nervous if the other guy will do something stupid...

I think when I did it I was in all A/A+ lobbies, so I lost almost no DR. I probably should have mentioned that…

The current hybrid only Daily Race C with the 4 hybrids is an interesting challenge, I’ve had a couple of 4ths and just managed a 3rd so happy as I struggle in the race to keep the battery charged, in qualifying I can keep half a battery the whole lap but in the race it’s gone by the end of the first lap - any ideas great fully received.

I like the challenge and hats off to the drivers who can do it.

I should be used to it by now, but moves like this UK driver pulled still annoys me.
But obviously not enough to stop racing.....

Happens to all of us, if only we had a decent penalty system

Oh well... which time of day do I have to race to get into these kinds of lobbies?

My PS didn't ask me which lobbies I'd prefer to accomodate my personal preferences😆(*)

(* which means that I landed in some "the grass is part of the track" - lobbies)

For me it was mid afternoon on a Saturday. This is perhaps the only time in a week in my region with plenty of people racing.

thanks a lot for the guide, your videos are always useful. Just a quick question, in race A I face a lot of oversteer between the 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear, what do you recommend? Changing the gears earlier?
Absolutely, short shifting is your best friend in this car if you're struggling with the power oversteer when the turbo kicks in. It is slower though, but it's faster than crashing :D

Slowly creeping down my daily B time. Still haven't dipped to where I know I can be, but it's pretty difficult to string together the perfect run here.

Have dropped my quali time from a 1:23.9 to a 1:23.3 over the course of the day - though lower is still to come I'm sure, and I can't complain about this time much anyway. Vantage is doing me proud.

Had an absolutely mental race a little while ago that culminated in 4 of us all in one group in the last few corners on the final lap. Last turn we genuinely went in three wide, all of us staying on the track, minimal contact. Awesome stuff.
