It’s my first week of being A rank. I still freak out a bit when I see myself in an all A lobby! Regardless, I can’t get my quali time down so I’m starting near the back. People are crazy back there and I’m getting killed just so they can have P12! My score is slowly going down, but I’m still A.

I’m disappointed that even in the A lobbies these drivers are pushing to pass, initiating contact to gain advantages, and flat-out shoving me off the track if I have the audacity to be where they want to be. I had such good luck at Autopolis last week, but I just can’t nail this track down enough to start at the front.

I fully expect to drop back down to B, and I’m not sure that will be bad for me. With a quali time stuck at 1:24.6xx I realize that I really shouldn’t be racing at this track this week. But I will continue because I’m learning a lot about the craft of racing even as I’m moving backwards in the field. I learned how to drive in tight traffic last week, and I’m hoping I can learn how to defend myself in traffic this week.

A guy can hope. . .

Let me know when you're racing. I'll be your wing man. 👍

I don't think he is upset about the timing of it. I think he's upset because his gift was a car that he already owned, and a further slap in the face because selling it is not an option...
I mean.. he says "they disappointed me in 2 ways" and then lists both the date being early as its own thing and then the present being bad and useless as another. There's also the facepalm and rolling eyes emojis.

They do this so you don't miss your birthday. Hardly think it's a thing to complain about lol. You get the notification a week either way of it, a lot of people go on holiday for example on or around their birthday, so this negates that.

You and I both know you'd be complaining if you spent the day out and as a result, didn't get a gift at all.

And where is the logic in that? If i would not be playing today but i would be on my birthday, then i miss out on a reward as well, no?

No, a week either way - meaning you can get it up to a week before your birthday, and up to a week after it.

That sounds oh so familiar...

And on the other hand, I'm still hesitant to do a real race at Brands. Because reasons😬

So I tried one race on my second account, low B/S ( where I shouldn't worry about my ratings, but was nervous as **** anyway😆), and won. If I had raced on my main account, I'm sure I would have been killed... Damn, I never thought that I could become superstitious one day...

Still super weird to wish someone a birthday before their birthday. Would be better then from your birthday on until 2 weeks after. But whatever, I give up trying to understand PD logic :banghead:

I just did race B, and got the ghost glitch. From the very start of the race, my car was ghosted. Unless someone is using chase cam, like me, they may not notice.
I knew it was gonna be bad. Other cars were bumping into me a lot. Eventually, about halfway through the race, someone knocked me completely off the track. Once I rejoined the track, from what would be a normal ghosting situation, my car went back to normal.

I was running the Brands race in the game and was a ghost car for 2 races against the AI

I got way better times in the FR cars.
I wonder how many other people could've had better times if they had experimented, rather than just just picking the car everybody else does. Not everyone's driving style is suited for the meta car.

Go back a few months. You were saying the same thing about going from C to B.

Just joined the forum, first post.

I always seem to have trouble coming close to my qualifying times during a daily race. I mean, on Daily Race B this week, in the qualifier, I can get within at least a second of my best qualifying time, almost every lap. But not when I'm actually doing the race. (I have a "B rating, just so you have some idea of my abilities, or lack thereof.) Anyone else have this issue?

I know that when I have to deal with other cars, it's going to affect my time. And dealing with cold tires too, obviously. But even if I have laps with nobody impeding me, I still run 2 seconds behind my best qualifying time. So I'm wondering if this is normal, or it's just me.

OK, lots of stuff incoming so bear with me here.
You should race. You’ll be amazed how quickly you improve there.

Running wide at Brands is not generally going to cause any issues for other drivers. Just be careful rejoining.

And a little tip for the RSR; coasting in turns is your best friend. It rotates the car much better than throttle or brake.
I did the coasting like you mentioned and got my qualifying time down to a 1:24.8XX in the RSR which is awesome considering my struggles at Brands Hatch. Still some sliding on my part, but that's bad driving habits I still have on occasion. I did jump into a race, more on that later.

Try the McLaren. It is slower than the Porsche but more stable on entry, for me the BB of the RSR is too much to the rear and she gets twitchy on turn in.
I did some laps in the McLaren and I was about .5 seconds off of my best time. It did feel good with corner entry/exit and no over/under steer that I noticed. I'm sure I can find more time eventually, but I wanted to jump into a race. I'll run more laps with this car in the future as I had a nice time driving it.

Now to the race. I was in a room with @Bullwinkle and @sturk0167 so that was cool. What wasn't cool was being in P13 on the grid. I thought for sure my time would put me higher on the grid. There was a car with a Pikachu livery with the headlights being the eyes and that gave me a chuckle. Anyway, things were going pretty good aside from a driver constantly sticking their nose on my inside to pass which I defended a few times. They get by me, but then I sorta, kinda, but not really on purpose give them a good old fashioned punterino and they enter the shadow realm. Then I go wide exiting X and my entire race goes off the rails. Because of the dirty tires I'm all over the place and I can't reset properly and just want the race to end. I finish P12 as I then into the wall to vent my anger.

Needless to say, that will be my only race this week. What little confidence I had at this track was shattered and total frustration from me. The track is fine, I'm just not that good at it.

It's normal. When you qualify, your fuel tank is empty. In the race, it's full.
The extra weight makes it a bit slower, and makes you have to brake a bit sooner.

I saw you bin it that last time. @sturk0167 was running defense behind me at P5 until lap 3 when I got caught in the crossfire of the cars in front of me. They were knocking into each other and I was trying to avoid them altogether so naturally they ricocheted into me, knocking me off the track so they could continue on without any troubles. I fell all the way back and that’s when I came up behind you as you flew off the track. I waved on my way by.

Am I the only person who finds themselves waving at other cars? I find myself getting so immersed that I forget I can’t see out the side windows. Oh, and that you can’t see me either.

What he said. Even though the fuel tank shows as full during qualifying, it's not. How much fuel is in the car while qualifying, we don't know (another WTF from PD)... but in the race it's indeed full thus adding weight to the car increasing lap times. Your experience is no anomaly.

I made a mistake that I knew not to do. In the last race, I worked my way up to fifth, and on the next to last turn of the race, I messed up a bit. So then I looked at the rear view to see how close the car behind me was, and while I was looking behind, I drove into the grass.
Don't ever do that.
Forget the mistakes, and focus on hitting your marks for the next turn. The person behind you has their own endeavors.

Having tire wear turned on also slows the car down; even on fresh tires with 1x wear, you'll still be slower than in FP with no tire wear turned on at all.

I wave as I pass by on occasion. Good to know I'm not the only one that does that.

Was talking with my son about that very thing.

I usually don't like MR cars also, but after trying for many many laps with the McLaren, AMG, Toyota, M6 etc... I finally set the fastest time with the RSR and it was a huge difference actually, literally a second faster, I was barely able to go under 1:25 with the M6 or the AMG, and with the RSR I got a 1:23.8, so yeah... RSR all day. It's a bit trickier to drive, can slide easily, but when you hook up the perfect lap...

Pretty good! Tsukuba is great for a tuning race (and I always love a tuning race) and both Bathurst and Laguna are fantastic circuits too.

Decent lengths for Race A and Race B too, so hopefully that's as an actual response to people complaining about it for the past few months. It's always silly when they give us like a 7 minute long race and we have to wait longer for the next race to start than we do actually racing.

Next weeks races:

A: Tsukuba - Any 4WD road car below <500PS, >1500KG, SS tires, 10 laps
B: Mt. Panorama - Gr.4, RM tires, 5 laps
C: Laguna Seca - Gr.3, RH/RM (RM mandatory) tires, 9x tire wear, 3x fuel, 14 laps
Can't say I am too excited about any of these (full disclosure: I rarely do DR As). So we have Bathurst again as B, and another track for C that's virtually impossible to pass. Bah!

How I'd love to see a Daily C at Blue Moon Bay Infield A, Gr3, 10-12 laps, 8x-10x tire ware, mandatory stop, all compounds available.

I've been thinking of making a Euro account; maybe next week will be a good time for that.

A: what would you suggest @praiano63 ? R32? Celica? Looks like the 22B Sti won't go higher than 1470kg.

B: that narrow sector will be FUN. First corner too. I can already smell my SR dropping thanks to some genius

Bathurst was a Daily A a couple months ago, and in my experience everything was pretty good/clean.

It seems like a nice variety but it's a shame the Gr.4 race will be GTR fest :/
I think the GT-R will struggle on the infield. Maybe the McLaren or Merc will be good? Admittedly, I am not too familiar with the Gr4 cars as I think they pretty much all suck.
