It seems like a nice variety but it's a shame the Gr.4 race will be GTR fest :/

Not necessarily. I bet the mountain sectors wil see the #return of the Alfa...😬

I've been thinking of making a Euro account; maybe next week will be a good time for that.

I'd be looking forward to meeting you on the track then...

...if I hadn't tanked my DR 😆

This week has cost me a lot of DR on both main and 2nd account. I'm a millimeter short of dropping to B on main and already a B on 2nd...

Switched to controller as I am struggling to be fast on wheel and went 1.5 sec faster on both Race B and C qualy times. Did 2 race C just now and started P2 and P3 with a 1:17:7 and finished 2nd both times.

The degree of rotation of the wheel is killing me, need it to be tighter as that is what is slowing me down. Did over 2k miles of practice with wheel but between 1.2 and 1.7 slower than controller times 😭

I'm more consistent with wheel and definitely more in control but the G29 has me go slow in tight corners as the turning circle is like a bus 😢🫣

A: what would you suggest @praiano63 ? 22B? Celica?

B: that narrow sector will be FUN. First corner too. I can already smell my SR dropping thanks to some genius

Next week ? Depend if there will have open settings.
Anyway , all are Cars fixed settings specified. Stock settings 22B or Celica are pure trash.

Open settings. Max 500pp 500ps, min 1500kg (I edited my previous message because the 22B can't go higher than 1470kg)

Uh oh . . . a Bills fan. . .
One of these playoff games, they will beat the Chiefs and not manage to lose in the most Bills way possible. One day.....

In all seriousness, if the game Sunday is like the last playoff game, I'm all for it. I wouldn't be upset if they lost in a shootout. Here's to no injuries Sunday.

Back on topic, I'll probably be at race B next week. The tire wear at Laguna Seca might be a problem for me. I drive that track aggressively and less grip is not going to help me at all.

On paper the daily looks fun, but Im not sure.
Not sure what it is with me but I just don’t have that urge anymore to do daily races. I don’t know if it’s the track, the cars, the bop system or the dirty racing thats putting me off.

I believe I t’s 500 PS (not PP), which is 493 HP. I think they’ve pretty much quit using PP calculations for their races because it’s too easy to cheat the system.

I won’t be surprised either way. The Chiefs are driving me nuts this season, so I think that means this is their week to poop their pants in front of a national audience again.

Thanks, guys. It's good to know there are reasons for the slower race lap times!

I wish we could adjust how "sensitive" the steering wheel is, so on some tracks we could set it so we didn't have to turn it as much.

Exactly! It's crap that it's the one thing that we cannot change and it happens to be critical whilst driving 🫣

We can adjust everything except the most important thing, changing direction!

It took me about a month to adjust to a wheel before my lap times were comparable. But within 6 weeks total, I was on average a second faster a lap on a wheel. There’s only a handful of situations where I’d be faster in a pad still…namely coming down the mountain at Bathurst and down the esses where you have to modulate both the brakes and the throttle at the same time while making sure the steering inputs are quick and precise.

But my feelings on using a wheel no matter what now, is the same sentiment as me using cockpit view. I know I’m slower in this view, but I don’t care. It’s more fun, and that’s what matters.

Anyways, finally got my euro alt back to “A” this week. Thinking of building my Asian acct to A too, but I think it’ll be better if I leave that account as is, and have fun driving crappy cars and learning circuits I generally avoid on my main and Euro Accts.

Next week looks like a blast. Bathurst is a lot like Brands, in the way that it’s a driver’s track. Laguna Seca with high multipliers is going to be fun too. Minimal mistakes and a “survival of the fittest” mentality will pretty much guarantee you a good finish. Maybe not everyone’s cup of tea, but pretty authentic on how real racing is

You're not the only one. I think it's all of the above, at least for me. I've done maybe four-five Dailys this week... all Bs on the 2 account as Brands is one of my worst tracks. Only real reason I've logged in was to do the new TT challenge.

That being said, I did get a win yesterday (my only race). Started P3 (the top four times were within .025"). Luckily for me, the guy in P2 had an off so I went by him, shortly thereafter the guy in the lead binned it. So before lap two, I was in the lead. Also luckily for me, this track is very difficult to pass. The guy behind was a bit quicker but was very fair/clean and didn't do any crazy divebombs. We were also side-by-side at one point but he backed out before the turn as he was the one attacking. JBOX Mags I think was his name; if you're out there, cheers.

No one more surprised than me to get a W there, even on the 2 account.

Did a couple more today in the Corvette. That car handles that track so well. Very easy to drive and just does want I want. But, still about one second per lap slower than the Porsche. So, yea.

Yep, another WTF from PD. You can adjust controller sensitivity but not wheel. You need to rely on the wheel itself to adjust the sensitivity but, unfortunately, not something the G29 is capable of.

This game is impossible at lower SR. I was racing with my buddy and let him have a go a few races which dropped me from SR S to B. Fine thats on me. Then I raced for a few to get the SR back up. I qualified top 3 and got punted off at all races. One took the cake. This dude in second literally gave up his position out of the blue, then punted me off at full speed at the first left hander.

Also all people in lower SR feel like they are faster than you. Absolutely no regards for any race etiquette at all. flashes lights. Jeebus this game can be frustrating at low SR. Going to qualify a bit higher so I can just run away and have some clean races.

I have a new Logitech G Pro Direct Drive steering wheel, and the new Pro Pedals plugged into it. The steering wheel has lots of "settings", but I haven't found an explanation of them yet. One of them is "Angle", which defaults to 900 but can be upped to 1080, and of course lowered down too. I think changing it to 1080 gives a tighter turning radius, but I could be wrong. I was hoping to be able to adjust it to make a big difference, but as of right now, it doesn't look like it.

On the positive side, I can adjust the brake sensitivity directly on the steering wheel (when the new pedals are plugged into it), and it works like a charm. Nice to be able to change it depending on the track.

In race c Are you having rotate the wheel more than 180° in the tight corners?

I had a similar situation, except the guy behind me in P2 thought he was faster than me and kept flashing his lights. He’d lose ground and come storming back and lose ground again. He finally tried diving in the second-to-last turn so I gave him room but he backed out on the last turn, much like your situation, but then kept flashing his lights at me. It was a good race but the guy jumped out of the lobby before I could say anything. Ah well, I’ll take the win!

That light flashing thing is driving me nuts, and it’s not just in lower SR lobbies. My situation was a mixed A/S B/S lobby.

I think someone mentioned in this forum once that the flashing lights may actually be an unintended side effect of using the sticks on the controller while driving. Maybe L3 is flash or something like that, so when they’re trying to brake and shift and accelerate they unintentionally push the sticks and flash the lights. I try to be patient about it, but I suspect in my case my guy was actually being rude and either trying to distract me or actually thought he was entitled to my spot.

The angle setting, as far as I understand it, changes the amount of rotation of your wheel to go from lock to lock. The turning radius doesn’t change, but the number of times you turn the wheel can be increased or reduced. Mine is pretty low, like 180* or something like that (I can’t check right now) so that I never have to turn the wheel all the way around to turn. This may not be “realistic” for broad cars, but for racing it’s important to be able to respond as quickly as possible. How low can your steering angle go?
In german it's "PferdeStärken", which literally translates to "horsepower".
Euro version of horsepower. I think the Japanese use it too, which is why GT bases certain numbers off of PS instead of HP (for example, the power limit in Daily Race A, or the N-class system in GT Sport).
Ahah! I was wondering how they got that abbreviation for “metric horsepower.” I should have known it was because of the Germans. 🙃

To be honest I think I’m on a bit of a sim racing hiatus. I’m having a similar issue with ACC in that I’m not enjoying my racing.
GT7 I’m now at a level where it’s challenging and I like that but when the tracks & cars are always single make cars, dirty air not allowing you get close and the bad driving from others it’s just not enjoyable. Online lobbies with friends I’m really enjoying as we mix up the racing with strategies and weather.

Ive just started play replay the Uncharted games and also the GTA remastered games, so hopefully having some time away from GT7 and ACC will reignite that urge for sim racing.

Oh nice, the new Logitech looks smart, but the price tag seems a little too steep for me when you compare it to like a Fanatec or Moza. What are your thoughts? Have you used a DD wheel before? And if so how does it compare?

I need to take a break, too... - from my main account. I seriously have to do races on my burner account just for practice purposes, because I'm just so useless in the actual races. Because:

Back to SR/S due to driving behind the pack for several races, and after one surprise win on my second account, I finally dared to do some actual daily races B on my main account. Brands Hatch, great track, 911, great car, and after some serious practicing I got my Q time to a fairly decent 1:23:8, so I even started my two races on pole. B/S lobbies with clean and fair racing throughout. Most drivers even understanding the concept of giving space, or backing out of risky situations. Almost zero pushing and punting.

Obviously, that didn't feel right. And so I just binned my races without any help from other drivers. 🤪

I think for the most part it's controller users. But, who knows for sure. Best thing you can do is not let it detract you and get the W/keep the place!

Again, similar boat. If it was a track/car combo I really liked it'd be all about it, but it doesn't take as much for me to be disinterested. Next week's races I have virtually zero interest in playing.

About two weeks away from MW2 coming out and a couple more weeks after that until God of War comes out. Those will be taking a big chunk out of my already dwindling GT time.

An abomination.
Invented by a brit, James Watt.

Took 3 races and Brands today, my first races of the week. On B/S its absolute mayhem. Ghosting seems disabled and people are just wrecking everyone they can get by a divebomb. Insane. All three races, total destruction. And all three races there were only Porsches. Is the BOP still corrupted?

This game is coming to its end. The patches still havent adressed a single issue.

Firstly, so was slavery. Secondly, not as far as I'm aware.

Watt created horsepower, an Imperial unit. He did it in the typical way you invent Imperial units, by deciding what feels right. The actual metric (or rather SI) unit of horsepower, the watt, is named after him and fits into the entire rest of the SI measuring system, by being one unit of something divided or multiplied by another one and derived from the basic SI units:

1hp = 550lbft/s
1W = 1Nm/s

Metric horsepower (PS/cv/Ch and so on) is the result of taking Imperial units and converting them into metric ones, then rounding them off to the nearest... five:

1PS = 75kgm/s

This is simply an abomination; metric units do not work like that, Imperial ones do. "Metric" horsepower is just Imperial horsepower worked out wrong; it's what feels right in metres, which is insane.

Although Watt called for a standardised measuring system across Europe, it never arrived in his lifetime. In fact despite early traction in the UK for such a system, the UK withdrew support after the French Revolution. We didn't come close for another 30 years after Watt's death; it wasn't until the 1860s that metrication even began (and metric units still haven't been fully adopted).

It's likely that the German engineers Watt was trying to communicate with (as he created horsepower as a marketing tool for steam engines) invented the Pferdestarke, by literally taking his horsepower and turning it from pounds and feet into kilograms and metres. Of course "pounds force" actually makes sense and "kilograms force" doesn't; "kilograms force" is "newtons"...

That also leads to the vague irony that PS is itself a marketing tool rather than a measurement. It gives the biggest number out of hp, kW, and PS, so car manufacturers use it to make the cars look faster.

Have you seen/looked at the Logitech support site? I too have the new Pro wheel and Pedal set and found this to be helpful. https://support.logi.com/hc/en-us/articles/8358055253271

Longest OT post I've seen in a while.

Manufacturers also use NM, which indeed is a way better indication of the vehicles acceleration power.

to make the cars look faster
Engine power does not express velocity, but acceleration. Theres many high PS engines with very low NM. For example, an V8 M3 has 400 PS (they never reached these numbers, but thats a different story) - but just 400NM. Same model with a 6 cyl turbo engine has 306 PS and 400 NM - with a much higher fuel efficiency.

A friend of mine drives a Scania V8 truck. 700PS and 3800 NM. Its very slow, but it pulls a 747 no sweat.
