I hadn't thought of that. I've only ever used a wheel, but I can see how that would be an issue. When a wheel user get suspension damage or wheel damage and the car drifts to one side he can just hold his wheel at an angel. The controller user has to make minute changes to the stick at all times, swerving on the track.
Well, I guess I haven't reached that critical point yet, because all of a sudden, today I can't race worth crap (on race b). I've spent about 8 hours so far (yes, I get up early) trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Before today, I could almost always get within a second or so of my best QT on a regular basis - usually much closer than that. Now I'm lucky if I get within 2 seconds! If I don't play for at least a couple hours per day, I start going backwards fast.
I suspect there is some "critical" point at which one has enough experience/muscle memory, that they can step away for a while, then quickly get right back in their groove.
But I'm beginning to figure it out. I'm still not there yet, but it's been an interesting experience. As I compare what I'm doing now to what I did yesterday, I see what a difference even apparently small things can make when you do enough of them wrong. I didn't even realize what I had been doing right!
