When a wheel user get suspension damage or wheel damage and the car drifts to one side he can just hold his wheel at an angel. The controller user has to make minute changes to the stick at all times, swerving on the track.
I hadn't thought of that. I've only ever used a wheel, but I can see how that would be an issue. :)

If I don't play for at least a couple hours per day, I start going backwards fast.

I suspect there is some "critical" point at which one has enough experience/muscle memory, that they can step away for a while, then quickly get right back in their groove.
Well, I guess I haven't reached that critical point yet, because all of a sudden, today I can't race worth crap (on race b). I've spent about 8 hours so far (yes, I get up early) trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Before today, I could almost always get within a second or so of my best QT on a regular basis - usually much closer than that. Now I'm lucky if I get within 2 seconds!

But I'm beginning to figure it out. I'm still not there yet, but it's been an interesting experience. As I compare what I'm doing now to what I did yesterday, I see what a difference even apparently small things can make when you do enough of them wrong. I didn't even realize what I had been doing right!

Hint: when you get a good quali time you can save your best lap to go and study later for a reference.

Its nice to read that Im not the only one in whole world using Lancer Evo:D Car is great, I dont know why its so unpopular? Good handling, great brakes, looks fantastic... I used it in GTWS and Im using it every gr3 race, no matter what track it is:) Ive done more than 6000km for now...
BTW, whats your PSN? Id like to add you to compare times, because on my friends list Im the ONLY ONE using this great car... my PSN is same as nickname here
Hey @LVS_1986

I forgot to reply to this. My PSN is the same as my user name on here. Feel free to add me

I'm contemplating getting a wheel but I play on my couch and don't have space to set up a full rig. Anyone else dealing with space issues and have a wheel?

You could maybe consider getting a foldable rig, Next Level Racing & Playseat do one.

As for me......I did a few races yesterday, my first after the update. Not that it matters much but I've no idea how the WRX has became so much faster, i took over a second off my pre update time....I'll probably jump on for an extended session tomorrow, do some more race b's, maybe give the Mazda RX Vision a go in Race C as it's maybe the op car now. And I'll defo be doing some practice lobbies for next weeks Race C.....could be a no stop in the Megane Trophy, but i wanna see if the WRX or the Swift can compete as well.

Then just use motion control’s on the controller instead of the stick, that solves that problem. That’s what I do. I’m surprised more controller uses aren’t doing that, it’s the next best thing to having a wheel.

I don't know man, using a controller I don't find this all that difficult to manage without swerving, it's just adjusting your stick steering to compensate. The only time it swerves for me is when the damage repairs and I'm still holding it at an angle before adjusting back. At Bathurst this typically happens on the long back straight so it's easy enough to fix.

PS5?

I just push the stick up and to the side if I get damage, essentially the same thing you do with a wheel. No constant twiddling or anything, I just hold it in a position that makes me go straight.

My rig is a T300 with TLCMs on a foldable Next Level wheel stand. The entire footprint including chair is only 1m x 0.5m. I could easily set it up in front of a sofa and it wouldn’t take much more space than if I stretched my legs out.

Tried it, felt worse than using the sticks. Too floaty, less feedback (plus it was more tiring on my arms).

I just saved 100,400 CR by entering race C! I'm not sure if it's a glitch or a feature needed for the BOP but the game gave me a free engine overhaul for the Porsche, it was showing as normal in GT Auto before the race and excellent after, it even gives you a free oil change 🥳

This is most likely because you had the wheel too far away, and had to hold your arms out too much. For me, the right distance is when my elbows can touch my sides (if I were skinnier, maybe they wouldn't actually touch my sides, but I think you get the point.)

I think they reset the car for dailies but it reverts back for anything else. Double check in one of the solo events. My 911 wasn’t showing any oil wear on the dailies but when I entered an event in career mode the oil was bad.

I'm not sure I've just entered a single player race (And quit out) and the car condition is fine still. I'll keep an eye on it though because I'm curious now.

Me too. I thought I had it figured out, but now I’m all confused again. I never use my 911 outside of dailies, so to see it with bad oil shocked me. I was even changing the oil after daily races before I discovered that it never wears, so I was caught doubly by surprise.

In other news: anybody have any ideas about Race A tomorrow? I got a supercharged Hellcat down to 600 PP but I’m horrible at the Tokyo Express Central circuit and have no idea if it’s an effective tune or not.

So,i haven‘t played GT for a couple of months (stopped like end of may/beginning of june) but since days are getting darker and colder it‘s about time to pull out my wheel, stand and chair again. I‘m really afraid to ask but what‘s the current state of the penalty system? :nervous:

Honestly it's not too bad lately. I've experienced that slight contact/rubbing in a corner or down the straights, doesn't draw a penalty for either driver.

There are definitely less penalties for for slight contacts/pushes, but your SR is still affected.
BTW there's no mechanical damage for small contacts with barriers.

Race B has been good to me this week...gone from D/B to B/S

He isn't talking about a wheel but using the controller as a wheel by motion control.

I know BOP plays it's part but don't imagine it will make such a difference to slow down the Alfa by 4 sec.

By my testing (standard no mods) seems like Race C destined to be a one-make race 🫤

Ignore top 5 times for Trial Mountain (Race B next week) as that was me playing around some tuning and testing improvements.

Only did 2 laps with each car but still, Race C seems clear to me what will be used...
