Ello! Long time lurker and GT player, first time poster

I've been really enjoying Race C this week, had some very close battles and the GTR handles really nicely until the tyres fall off, makes for a nice dynamic

One thing I wish the daily races had is a limit to the ABS setting used to what the real car would have
I think you could have some much more interesting racing if you actually had to manage your brake usage instead of just being able to slam them on almost every corner

I've tried that in the past and don't think it works when the BoP is so out of whack
Within a relative short while you are back at your natural pace and then you are again being beaten by the meta cars all the time. Equal frustration even if you don't care about your ratings it6not fun loosing every battle
You just have to adjust your goals/expectations. For instance, say you want to start at the back in the Gr.4 Citroen on your alt account, just to have some fun. Make 10th place your goal, or your measure for success. :)

With Race A, do any mods have an effect on the car? Obviously perfomance don't. But what about 20-inch Wide/Wide tyres compared to 18-inch Normals? The size of the wing? Downforce should be BoP'ed so the front and rear air dams shouldn't matter, right?

I'm just trying to figure out why I'm getting bad starts at the starting line. With rolling start and full throttle, tucking into the slip we should all bunch up but I seem to always fall a few tenths back before catching back up to speed with the pack.

Edit - I have a slight suspicion I might need a new controller
Okay, I finally got video of what I was talking about above. I'm on P4. P3 and P5 get a much better start than P2 or I do. They catch us, respectively, before the first corner as. P3 just takes off from me and I struggle to even stay in his slip.

If you see my (and P2) accelerator on the replay it sputters right before P1 crosses the start line, but P3 and 5 just tops off and stays there.

I realize I'm not fully in P4's slipstream as he doesnt come all the way to the yellow line, but hes just as much outside P3's as I am his (I think). I'm really looking to find out if I am doing something wrong (which I fully suspect). Any help is appreciated

Edit: Okay, something weird IS going on. I started the next two races with the quick menu up, and then took control of my car 2 or 3 seconds into the race and I get a great start. Twice, right up in the bumper of the guy in front of me before first turn.

Maybe traction control has something to do with this. I see the acceleration "sputter" as you described. Simultaneously, your traction control indicator sputters (flashes red). Both go back to normal once you hit 3rd gear.

That's odd cuz I dont have TC on. I took it off 2 months ago. I do have Countersteer Assist on because I heard it helped against people trying the Pit Maneuver on you. I'll take it off.

You have TC on in your video, P3 and P5 do not. I'm guessing that's why they get a better start. TC turning on by itself seems to be a bug. Also, counter steer assist and that other assist (not TC) are helpful with this combo.

Indeed, if you don't know already, check your TC setting when the formation part of a race is on as the game has a habit of setting it back to 3, regardless if you had turned it off or not.

I typically find it happens if you pick a new car and then go into a race without qualifying, but it can be inconsistent as well so worth just checking before every race.

Absolutely. On my primary account I'm a mid A, so i typically get placed with other As and a handful of A+. I consider a race a victory if I am the top A driver. That's just racing, most drivers irl do not compete for wins very often.

Not sure if anyone responded but I do a 3 things when practicing Daily Races.

Custom Races - I will run my own custom races against the AI. I know the AI are very predictable but at least you can sort of get a feel for tyre wear & fuel usage but most importantly you get a rough idea for lap times.
Online Lobby - As the single player Time Trial function doesn’t have BOP settings, I’ll set up a private lobby so i can run quali laps, with BOP on and with fuel and tyre wear off.
Online Lobbies with friends/randoms - I’ll usually join a friends lobby to run practice races or I’ll just join a random practice lobby.

Weather & Time settings - I’ll just stick weather to sunny with some clouds, and always afternoon sessions. They is no way of know these until the monday, but PD seems to run the same sort settings for daily race.

Hope that helps.
Thanks.

Managed a 3:23:9 in race B which did nothing but put me into a higher split where the skill level of driving has not gone up, only the skill level of exploiting the penalty system and not getting caught.
Yeah...After a few months of climbing the ladder you realize...It doesn't get any better out there. The penalty system can be so easily exploited... It rewards players for side-swiping, pitting players, and smashing players off the track on corners.

I don't play much of Sport mode anymore. Maybe once a week after all that's all our "Daily" races are.

Don't get me wrong here... GT7 is fun. Unfortunately there are far better games out there to race competetively.

4/6 in the Vantage is comfortable, 5/5 much less so.
I managed a 4M/6S today in the Vantage, as I pitted by mistake at the end of lap 4! I had 99% red tyre wear bars as I crossed the finish line.

The guy behind me was catching me quite fast, and I thought he was bound to catch me before the end, but as I watched nervously in my mirror he binned it at 130R on the last lap! 😁

If you don't at least start a qualifying lap after you join a lobby, it resets your TCS to 3. But if you run even a portion of a Q lap while in a lobby waiting for a race to start, then it leaves your TCS alone.

I've got a sort-of good news, bad news sort of thing here. First, the good. A couple of cars had an incident in front of me, and it cost me two positions. I should have downshifted to third, but other than that, I'm not sure what I could have done. BUT, I managed to get the positions right back. For a lot of drivers, this might not be a big deal, but I don't do this successfully very often:

Now the potentially bad news. I think this was my fault (next lap, by the way). What do you guys think?

This was unexpected. I set my fastest Suzuka lap of the week .. in the Citroen. So much oversteer (and a tad of understeer as well in certain corners) but there’s some speed hidden beneath the hideousness.

you definitely lunged from extremely far back and tbh the gray car had no expectation that there was suddenly going to be someone on his inside. Yeah, that's your bad.

Did a few more Daily Bs. Taking a small break from C as when I am done with a race, it feels like I just had to do four digit square roots in my head with my foot in a vice or something. Mentally exhausting.

Jumped on the main account in the GTR and set a time of 3:19.5 which, to my surprise, was 202 ranked. Doesn't seem right as there are still a couple corners I know I am doing wrong. But, I'll take it.

But, I didn't feel like racing it so I switched to the 2 account with my quali time in the Aston of 21.7 and did some races in that. Finally, after too many tries (screwed up a couple wins due to track limit pens), got the elusive win in it. Give the Aston a go... you won't have the fastest car on the grid but you'll have the best looking car on the grid.

Happy/ sad moment for me. Was pleased with my time (1:20:8) with the WRX at St Croixe but was still starting P8/ P9 and getting stuck behind players who don't accept being overtaken.

Tried improving but couldn't so just switched to the GTR as a test and within 2 or 3 laps practice, was already 0.4s faster! BoP is crap and no wonder we always end up using same 2 or 3 cars over and over and over and over again!

Getting a bit boring now, so many cars but can never drive them competitively 🤐 At least started and finished P4 after setting that lap just now!

I have to admit, that teased me a little bit. Had to defend the honour of Ugly Alfa:

I want to look for where that speed is hidden, but I’m too busy sliding sideways through turn 1 to find it! I love the car, but I can’t finish a clean lap under 2:00. Any hints?

How are folk able to race the 911 around Suzuka and not spin out at the hairpin? I have no idea how or why the car seems to go into the turn and the engine just kinda dies and the car spins out. Had this happen at Spa as well. I can do the hairpin just fine with most FR cars but can't do it in the 911 nor the R8. They always spin out.

i find you need less steering input on most MR cars compared to FR cars, especially the R8

You need good throttle control. You have to keep the throttle on lightly to maintain traction through the corner. If you come off the throttle completely at low speed, it will spin.

Have you tried the Ferrari round here? I remember a few months back when we used the other layout the Ferrari was pretty strong round here.
Not tried this race yet but going to jump in today at some point I’m the Ferrari as I don’t like the GTR.

Sorry, no. I'm the wrong person to ask, can't really describe what I'm doing, I just drive on instinct. Don't even know what speed or gear I'm taking the corners.

As for the sliding, a loose rear end never hurt anybody (except the tyres maybe but that's ok in qualification). My quick lap was a bit Tokyo Drift but it worked.
