Wanted to focus on Daily Race B for this week since I haven't got the chance to have some quality time with the Atenza Gr.4 back in Sport so I'll be using it.

I did four sessions for today and each one was interesting.

My first session put me in P2 as my starting position and I'm glad the DR/SR grid I'm in is starting to look like what I expected as a high rated player. My last session was a somewhat low quality one back when the Nurb GP Daily Race B was a thing.

Race begins and while I was able to keep up with the pole sitter, something oofy happened where I ended up getting a 5 sec time penalty. Accidentally hit the pole sitter when he was losing it after taking a trip on the sand.

Due to the penalty I received and after serving it, I lost 3-4 positions and it led to me finishing P5 for the first session.

As for my second and third sessions, they were uneventful at least. The second session made me threw my possible win away due to pressure succumbing to me where I made a mistake that made me lost out on a win and finish P3. The third session it was similar to the second session except a track limit breach penalty made me lose out on a win again and finish P2 on the process.

The last session was where things finally looked up for me as I was given my third pole position (in the second and third sessions I snag pole in both of those races).

From there after learning the mistakes I had in the three races I did, I hold on to my pole position and get my second Sport Mode win in GT7.

Overall I'm looking forward to being accustomed more to the Atenza Gr.4 for this week.

Hoping that next week we get some BoP with settings availabe.
I was just thinking about it - they probably want to get as much data as possible from the daily races so that they can adjust the BoP for the online series. From what I understand, the BoP as transferred from GTS is not particularly B'd

Not surprising, it wasn't exactly B'd across the board on GTS either! Not that I can really blame them for that, must be a difficult job to get right.

Sorry but I don't think you understood. The corner is a hairpin, the driver in front took the regular racing line, which is outside-inside-outside. It is a heavy braking zone and they braked so early that contact was going to happen before any space on the outside opened up. So my options are to go onto the grass on the outside (which could have still easily resulted in contact), simply make contact with the back of their car (which would have caused them to hit the driver in front of them), or dive into the only on-track space available which was on the inside.

There was no option to take a different line, yes I am the driver behind but as soon as the drivers in front make the mistake of braking too early, and 10metres is significantly early, there is literally nothing I can do, by the time I react to it we have already reached the correct braking point and it is too late for me to not overshoot the driver in front. I am trying to overtake these players, this is a 5 lap sprint and I do not have the liberty of being patient on a track which really only has two good opportunities to overtake each lap.

Should I have slowed down even earlier? Technically this was an option but my point which you have overlooked is that in B DR lobbies players are going to make unexpected mistakes. Me not braking even earlier you could argue is a mistake but it still doesn't mean that I was recklessly divebombing up the inside. Which is the point of my post, sometimes these contacts which feel intentional or irresponsible are simple racing incidents where neither driver is really to blame. As I said, I did actually brake slightly before the actual braking point, and in race conditions I am having to spend as much energy defending my position from the driver behind as I am on overtaking the driver in front.

It's ironic that you say that it's fair that the driver did not anticipate the overtake, because in the exact same race I myself braked slightly too early going into the same corner, and by keeping an eye on the radar I observed that the driver behind had braked slightly too late and had moved up my inside as it was the best option to avoid contact. Observing that this driver was now on my inside I proceeded to give space by taking a wider line. Contact was avoided and we were still side by side going into turn 1 on the next lap, where space was once again given to each other. If we make contact is it the other driver's fault? Doesn't really matter that much when it's me who's being spun off by the contact.

My point is that drivers are going to make mistakes, they are going to get close to one another while trying to overtake, and it is irresponsible to just take the racing line through every corner and cry foul if anyone ever makes contact with you from behind.
If you’re third in a train towards a braking zone going in at max speed after a long straight like that then you should expect each car in front to brake early as slipstream will mean higher top speed and longer braking distance. You’ve got to be coasting it in a little when you’re third back.

When I'm following very closely I take a different line into the corner so any difference in braking doesnt cause an accident, or I intentionally brake earlier than my normal braking zone. Or just back off a bit. Wait for a better opportunity.

Being forced into a dangerous overtake is not worth it. You entered the vortex of danger without any clear intent, so he didn't anticipate it which is fair. And he's allowed to brake a bit earlier. You want your overtakes to be planned affairs.

Following safely is another part of racing. You don't really want your race to end or be compromised just because someone braked a bit earlier.
While a planed overtake, preferably by getting a better exit is a nice way to pass, out raking people is probably about 50% of real racing.
There's a tremendous lot of people doing what we call dive bombs in GT, but a dive bomb is when someone brakes later, goes inside and [bold] can't make the corner without the other car as a barrier [/bold]
If it's the outside car that turns in on the inside car it's lack of situational awareness and the blame is on the outside car.
I am welcome to the apex when there's no one there, but it's not automatically my corner because I was ahead at the start of the braking zone.
If the inside car doesn't leave room on the outside exiting the corner the blame is on the inside car.
Always leave space.
Don't leave the door open if you don't want anyone to try and pass, that way forcing them to overtake on the outside OR plan for getting a better exit and pass on the straight.

Was the Porsche race at interlagos with RM tyres??? Did I miss that and used RH? I was wondering why I'm 1-2s off the pace

edit

nvm it's RH

I had it happen when i was the leader the other way around somehow.. I got tapped in the rear he wound up off the track and i got a 5 second penalty to ruin my race smh some of the penalties need to be reworked

Brands is a tough test, never a favourite of mine but I may as well use this week to improve it. People sliding all over when those hards go off, but surprised to see so many ducking out. To quit on lap 11 from 6th, anything could have happened but I've seen it enough to wonder if this is new players / single players coming over to Sport and not realising how much quitting out impacts your rating.

100% finish the race today i dropped to last twice at brands with spin outs poor car choice etc... but because i stuck it out till the end i gained multiple spots and actually went from Dr c to b and SR from B TO A

Yeah, would be a nightmare to get right. I think they need to have a few different BoPs per car though. Group similar-ish tracks together as high/medium/low speed or something like that. A Monza BoP is going to be very different to a Brands Hatch BoP

Meta the new in word is it, all i see people mentioning now, thought that was the name of the new facebook?.
Was pretty commonly used as a term for the recommended car in GT Sport races too - before Facebook took it over. Even more common right now for the fact that the BoP is very much a work in progress (I hope, anyway).

Makes me wish for some kart specific tracks on the game, there was a GT with this on in the past or I've imagined it?
Streets of willows, reversed would be awesome, and the other short track at willows. Don't remember the name of it

I love the karts but 11 minutes between races? Geez. I finishrd a kart race, went and ran 5 practice laps at Brands and made it back in time to run a qualifying lap before the next Kart race started.

I've been doing no stop races from the back at Brands, basically let people pass all race long lol. First the ones that keep crashing, then the pit stoppers. I still finish top 10, 6th place with CRB is 32K.

Not sure if a pit stop is faster in the Lexus. The tires are pretty worn at the end of the race and at 1:29 per lap, no stop at FM2 with short shifting all the way, is at least easy to keep the car on the track!

It's been decent, except for the usual Brazilian interference. Love to lose the CRB for avoiding a dive bomb, sport never changes.
