If someone sees contact penalties in race b lemme know. Otherwise the meta is push to pass if you want to even compete. Absolutely unreal how bad the penalty system is atm.

Here is some newbie friendly races, enjoy getting bashed and hated it so you don’t ever come back :D just PD logic

I still haven't actually run the race (still figuring out what car I want to use during Q), but I don't see how it could be anything other than what you said. There's no "safe" passing zones - then only thing you could do to pass people would be to bump and grind (and not in a good way). I can't see me doing this race on my main account - I've finally gotten to over 70% of B, and I sure as heck don't want to lose it after all that hard work.

I might sit this week out. We'll see.

I’ve had some decent passes, you just always leave space if someone is on you and pulls to the inside or outside before a corner. I’ve been leaving space and had others leave space too. Unfortunately all it takes is a few people to screw the entire thing up and spin people out and punt people and get normally calm people mad.

So yea it devolves by like lap 3/4.

Watch that wall after the last corner. I thought I was done hitting it after the first time, but no. The kerb is your friend.

Yeah Alfa GTA am is a handful to drive especially without any assists in Daily A. Just did some short 10 min practice. I had to go with stability management ASM on, and the car became somewhat drivable. It still wants to kill you when you turn in sharply using 2nd gear for some reason. Thankfully no hairpins at this track, so you get around the problem. For me it worked when I used 2nd gear very briefly for a better corner entry rotation and then quickly switched to 3rd near the corner exits of the slower corners, to avoid a big drift or even spinning out.

The car gets away with the short shifts due to the effective turbo it has. A bit unrealistic, but I find the car kinda fun to drive with the controlled drifting when you have ASM on. Doing some more practice for a better quali time before doing a few races. Race B is just the wrong track for gr3 and Daytona in gr4 sounds boring. Too fast of a track I feel like for those cars. So a bit of an off week, focusing more on GTWS exhibition series this week.

You explained that very well. Simple but precise 🍻 is there any way to update the firmware without having access to a pc? Why can’t we just do it on a PlayStation? Coding I assume but as you can probably tell I have a very limited amount of knowledge of computer science 😏 🍻

No I don't think so. It uses windows or Mac os's to flash the firmware onto the wheel. They would have had to make a little app for PS4 to do it and that would eat into their profits. Most people have, or have access to a pc. Just lug your wheel to the public library or ask a nice old person using the wifi at McDonald's. They are lonely and it's Christmas. You don't need the peddles attached! The firmware is on their website under support. There is also Logitec software called ghub where you can further customize your wheels settings.

It works without the assists. A lot of patience on throttle is required, and rather 4th than 3rd gear out of the corners. Cruising through the corners instead of hard braking and accelerating.

At least in qualifying. In the races it might be a different story.

make a new account and join me at Daytona! We can suffer together lol

I see a lot of complaints about B at Maggiore Center. I have run 4 today and they where all a blast of fun!
I started with the Ferrari, swerved to avoid another Swedish driver going under the bridge and spun myself into 14th but finished 8.
Then tried the Lambo, spun myself at T1, got 1.5 wall pen and damage but still made P7 and fastest lap
Then went in the Mustang, got P2. Then P2.
There's several good overtaking spots, coming to T1, back straight, and after the hard left at the end of the back straight.
Gr 3 on small tracks are always fun.

Race B is quite fun. Did a total of 6 races today. First race I started at the back in the Porsche. Managed to get up to 11th before bottling it on the last corner of the last lap. I them switched to the Jag as it felt like the Porsche was down on power. The next 4 races I started and finished 2nd as I set a qualy time of 43.9xx. Then I went and ran the Jag in qualy and managed to drop my time to a high 43.6. The last race I started and finished 1st.

Overall it's a fun little track to get a grasp of.

I had an incident today that has totally ruined Race B for me this week, unless I decide to use my second account. I've never wished I could report someone before now, but this guy has me wondering if I even want to be seen on my main account again. I may try to put together a video showing exactly what happened, but for now I'll just explain it.

I entered my first (and only) Race B this week, and some driver I've never heard of before (his name is unusual enough that I would have remembered) directed this chat message at me (I've blurred out his name):

I thought that was odd, but whatever. Then as the race was about to get under way, he said this, which I thought was pretty funny, actually:

This was my first race of the day, and I haven't had any serious incidents with anyone recently.

He hadn't qualified, so he was last, and I was 3rd, so I didn't worry too much about it. But coming up to the final turn in lap 7 he had caught up, and he hit me twice, trying to spin me out. The funny thing is, his first hit knocked me off line, but his second hit straightened me back up and actually helped me get around the last turn.

As I was entering the first hairpin on lap 8, something flashed by me and hit the wall. When I looked at the replay, it was the same guy trying to dive-bomb me. Fortunately for me, there was someone next to me and he deflected the guy enough that I pretty-puch avoided being hit. This is from his POV in the replay:

I have no idea what this guy has against me, and why he's targeting me. I really, really, really don't want to race with him again. It's kind of messing with my stomach, actually. For tonight I'm just gonna call it quits. Tomorrow, if I decide to race, it will probably be under my second account.

People like this shouldn't be allowed to ruin the game for other people. He should be suspended, but I guess that doesn't happen in this game. Thanks a lot, *******, for ruining things for me. I hope Santa left you a bunch of coal in your stocking.

Race A is crazy. That Alfa is really hard to control, thanks to the SH tires. Throttle control is super important. I don't know why PD insists on giving us such bad tires for some of these road cars.

Was bound and determined to get a win on this combo this week and got one today. Started P2, got passed off the line, the P2 took out P1 on accident so I was promoted to P1 toward the end of lap one. Was able to hold on... glad to get that one out of the way.

I took advantage with my day off of work for Christmas and put a few hours into learning the Daytona road course properly. I also had plenty of time because I couldn't go anywhere thanks to travel bans due to the blizzard that hit the Buffalo area over the weekend to I had nothing but time today. 2 days of constant blowing snow and trying to shovel/snow-blow in said conditions does not make for a good time. 0/10 would not recommend.

Anyway, after a few hours of practice I got a time of 1:56.6XX in the GT-R. My optimal time did have me into a 1:55.9XX. I really need to get the bus stop section nailed down as I am bleeding so much time there. It's like some weird mental block where I cannot make a clean run through there. I need to trust the car and send it once I get the timing down. That will get me down into the 1:55.XXX for sure. I will also try the Mustang tomorrow as I have more experience that that car and that might make a difference.

Agreed, I jumped into some B races early this morning, it was competitive in a variety of cars, and there were only a couple nuisance drivers. The trouble is going to be the number of opportunities for knitwits - there are a lot of turns for a sub minute lap.

I dont think you should worry to much about it. After a few races he wont be in your point range anymore. He may infrequently pass thru your range, or you thru his, but you wont consistently get paired with him except for a few races in one day.

If you can; race at a different time of day, a couple hours early or later. After you've won or lost a few races you will either drop below him or rise above.

I had a guy a few weeks ago that was targetting me. I can posted the vids here. After a two days of racing him (maybe 5 races total), I never saw him again.

I too had a predator encounter like this a little over a week ago on my alt account which was high B and I let it ruin what had been quite fun racing right until the episode.

Saw him again the next day and he was up to the same aggression crashing people and messaging threatening posts. He found his match every now and again while messing people’s races up. I watched a few of the replays on races where I didn’t have to deal with him and he was creating havoc in nearly every race.

Go on and enjoy and just ignore the dude. Don’t let him win at his game.
Bullies suck!

Don't sweat this dude at all. What's his name anyway so I can watch out for him. Some people are like that but they can suck a dick. They need to be outed. This scene isn't that big. Reminds me of that dirty driver from Spain that got so notorious people would just ram him because they all knew what an ass he was.

I thought I read that the G29 firmware update that you can do doesn't change anything if you are on a PS4 or PS5.

two comments from a forum on here from 4 years ago...https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/logitech-g29-update.374918/

I was set to the update until I read these notes...

G2x wheels are "dummy" peripheral devices, no brains=no actual controlling firmware inside, only "api control box". All brain is run on host device in form of "firmware driver", on PC you could update your ruining "firmware" as updating your driver. On consoles you can't do that, sony can update OS part driver "firmware" if they will, and software developers can use either way to control wheel, using OS api to wheel or direct commands to wheel, when doing direct commands to wheel it means at their software will act as firmware to wheel, which they can improve/update if they want inside their software.
G2x series physical "firmware" contains only FFB canned effects and FFB direct control api to be used from host=software on console/pc.

The G29 cannot be updated. It's simply plug and play on PS4. The Logitech controlling firmware on PC can be updated though (an application) but nothing on the wheel itself to update.
Hope that clears some stuff out.

We're not allowed to post names and bad-mouth people here. I've gotten on the bad side of the moderators too many times recently (for other reasons) to risk getting in trouble over this moron.

How do you report someone for their chat messages?

How do you report someone for their chat messages?
If you press X while the cursor is on the chat window it will let you cycle up and down the individual messages. Once you're on the offending item, X again to open the menu and go through the report process.

It's probably better to do it after the race as trying to click through the options when the clock is counting down isn't easy.

PD might not care about punishing players for behaviour, but Sony will come down hard on aggressive messages etc. I know I had a 7 day ban a little while ago and maybe it's just me, but I haven't written anything negative in the chat since. Lesson learned (even though I would have been sure I was in the right, it's not worth it).

It's perfectly fine to post a photo with the bad guys name on it or a video of him being an offender.
You just can't post his name as text so it's searchable

After yesterday's disastrous attempt at Race B I gave Daytona a go. What a difference, wow. Still a couple of people whose racecraft is a bit too aggressive for my taste, but at least no one tried killing any other players here. Started in position 6 and dropped down to 9 after lap 1, a result of my trying not to get into any fights. After that, a tough race where I fought back every position I initially lost until I found myself in position 4 in the final lap. The leader was too far off so winning was out of the question, but position 2 + 3 were fighting two seconds ahead of me – and #2 was a guy who pretty much bullied me as he overtook me earlier in the race. They kept fighting and fighting, and eventually I caught up with them. While I'm in #3's slipstream, #2 messed up the bus station exit and little by little we crawl past him. Just as he's behind me he rage quits the game, with only a couple hundred meters left to go, hah. I finish in position #3, almost head to head with #2. That was fun.

Grumpy, I have the unfortunate PSN ID of Grand_Slammin’, which was a baseball reference. I was getting killed the first couple months when I was racing and finally someone commented on my name and assumed I was dirty. I changed my racing name immediately to my GT Planet name to avoid that problem and also to help GTP people find me in races. You may consider a different name for a while to see if it changes the way people respond to you.

Anyway, if you repost your images from above without the offender’s name blurred out, that should be acceptable and you’d be doing some of us a huge favor as well! As long as you can’t find the name doing a Google search, as @RacingGrandpa says above.

Meanwhile, o thought I’d HATE race C this week and boy was I wrong! I’m having a blast. Of course the GT-R is the meta, and I was a full second faster in it until this morning when I tried a few other cars. I broke my best time in only two laps in the Jaguar, which seems to be a bit of a sleeper. The Mustang is too loose for me, and the Jag has some great acceleration and top speed, and it’s also rock solid on the entry of turn 1, which is where most of my time is lost. It’s also where most positions can be gained in the race as so many people try to drift around that turn. Give it a try and see what you think!
