This may be a generalization but sometime I find A/S drivers a bit more bullying against me as B/S driver. They will often try and force an opening where there is none, and barge through. Perhaps under the rationale that they are faster, which they are. An A+/S driver tends to be more patient - less likely to feel the need to force a spot through contact. Mind you the only time I see an A+ driver behind me is if he/she has gone off track or been punted, so there is that...lol. If an A+ driver is behind me they ought to be in "whatever" mode by then.....lol
Personally as soon as the race starts I completely forget/can’t remember each individual player’s DR but I make sure to remember players with lower than SR S.

Any image-processing software and a rudimentary knowledge of DR points boundaries

You'd need to take a screenshot of your in-game page then, using the image-processing software, measure the size of the bar compared to the maximum size of the bar. That's your percentage of progression through your current DR rank. Multiply that by the points range for that DR rank to arrive at an approximate score.

Let's say you have a 75% full bar at DR B. The points boundaries for DR B are 10,000 to 29,999, which is a spread of 19,999pt. 75% of 19,999pt is 14,999pt (ignoring the quarter-point!) which, when added to the base score for DR B of 10,000, gives you a DR score of 24,999.

It's approximate, but it's exactly the same method.
Thanks

Gave Daytona a run without qualy (16th to 8th, a lot of people quit here) and while I appreciate it's not a fuel saver, it really could have done with a basic tire swap strat. After the first few battles are done it's pretty much a run in space to the end.

I got a bit excited when I saw that we were starting in sunset but the time doesn't progress that I noticed, it seems they have forgotten they added the feature, it would have been nice to watch the descent into darkness as we go round but oh well, maybe next time.

WRX was solid enough, little unstable braking into the big stops at turn 1 and the bus stop but kept up with the others fine. Wasn't around enough cars to comment on the Alfa and GTR at this stage.

I like this circuit as a drive so will probably run it a few more times but just little things would have added a lot here.

Tried Race B in the Ferrari. Not a course I enjoy so the qualifying lap isn't anything worth mentioning. Starting in position 11, I work my way up to position 7 but then get spun three times in the course of two laps and finish last. **** me. I didn't really enjoy the tracks when things were going okay either, though, so I guess I'll just stick to something else this week.

Race C -> gets Daytona Road Course, for the third time or so.
Race B -> even after 10 months still doesn't get Daytona. This short Lago Maggiore layout screams go kart, not Gr.3.

Wall penalties? Check.
Looks like I'm not the only one getting those 3 seconds for hitting the wall on the last corner of Lago Maggiore. I know I just woke up and I need practice, but I think we can all agree this crap must go.

1 min timer at the end of each race? Check.

Long wait between races? Check.
2-3 weeks ago the average wait between B races was 7 minutes. Last week 8 minutes. This week...9-10 minutes!!
It's almost as if they don't want us to keep playing.

I hope Race A is good.
EDIT: Nope, it's a drift fest. Sport soft tires would have helped, maybe.

All in all I'll be at Maggiore this week.

Woke up early and got into a race A quali. That race is going to be a yard sale. Very unstable car, lots of braking zones.

Race B? If you are P10 on the grid, be prepared to be sent into the wall at the start and incur a 1.5 sec penalty as soon as the light goes green. I did 3 races, in the Beetle, Supra, and Vette, respectively. Everyone seems to be trying to figure out which car to drive, I was punted by some A/S drivers, took a last, P8ish, then a P4...racing against mostly A/B drivers. I wasn't really competitive, just picking up the trash and keeping it on the circuit.

A and B races are prime for the pitters, punters and pushers, so be on guard at every turn. A/S ratings be damned.

The teleport glitch is active in race B also.

I'm sick of hitting walls while trying to avoid stupid drivers. I get a penalty anyway for hitting the wall, so instead of trying to avoid the collision I may as well send them into orbit.
I'm following marked braking zones and the marked racing line in the '84 Skyline Silhouette. It's a lot lighter than the rest of group 3, and I noticed it's braking zones are shorter. Yeah, I'll take a different line than the guy in front of me because of this. I'm going to the inside of him and braking a tad before the red stripes. I do NOT expect them to cut in front of me for any reason. I expect them to hold the outside line or at least leave me enough room to finish the turn. If you start your turn in on the outside and someone is inside of you, sorry, bud, you have no right to go out-in-out on that turn. You can move inwards to a point, and you should, but you can't move in to the inside curb as you would if no one was there.
There were a lot of trash results in the daily races. I only saw one driver that needed booted, they were trying to teleport. The rest of it just boils down to inexperience and thinking you're the only one on the track. It's not malicious, people just aren't thinking. Yet the game has been passing out penalty after penalty.
My last race on Suzuka I got punted right before the hairpin. My car would NOT go back onto the track no matter what I did. I might get it facing backwards, but if I was facing forwards just off the edge, it would spin exactly 180 degrees. If I was facing backwards on pavement it would always spin 360 degrees. If it didn't do that, it would slam into the wall again.
I think I broke my controller trying to get the car on track. If so, Sony can replace it under warranty. It works but it's making a weird noise. I was glad to see Suzuka go. That has always been a super difficult track in any racing game I've played and it does NOT mix well with a busted penalty system. I could load up Pole Position 2 on the 7800 and hate on Suzuka some more.

But do know this: if you drive stupid, I'm not going out of my way to avoid hitting you and possibly ruining your race. I get penalized either way, so I may as well give the game a reason to issue the penalty.
I'll slow down a bit for you, take a different line, etc., but I'm not leaving the track anymore. The other driver is, SR be d*mned.

#Monday is Race A day, regardless of holiday season.

PD did a perfect troll job with this one. If that car drove like that in real life and was equipped with that kind of tires, the customers who bought this car would be returning it to their dealership after one day of trying to drive it. At least the ten percent who were still alive then.

But anyway, I drove a bunch of laps to find out what it's about.

Generally speaking, there are only three things the car with these tires doesn't like:
1. accelerating
2. braking
3. everything in between

well, maybe except driving in a straight line, which works fine. Sometimes.

Any steering movement can be a huge gamble. Driving tip: Brake and accelerate in a straight line at all costs. The slightest steering input while braking at the end of the home straight might send you to places you didn't even know they existed.

And whilst trying to get a decent quali lap down, how about cutting the final kink over the grass between the right penalty zone marker and the wall? It will usually give you a penalty, but around one out of ten times it will not. It's random. No kidding.

Have fun!😜

Well some of the worst driving I've experienced :S!

And when I think it's already a delight to be in one of your videos (in BOTH race A and B :D) I have the honor, this time, to be in your thumbnail  (the Giulia with the lovely GT2 livery is mine :sly:)

Even recorded that race myself (it's the second race); I was hoping to battle with you, but the french guy ruined everything  And yes, the Giulia is a chaotic machine, you need to be delicate in everything :scared:

Think I'm just gonna do a few Race A stints before calling it a week because I'm like busy right now due to the holidays with my family.

So I chose to focus on Race A because I wanted to see the potential in the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm for one make races. I managed to clock in a time of 1:31.818 which was enough for me to be on pole position for two of the sessions I did for today.

For the first session it was....something. Soon as I saw my region's usual dirty driver for Race A starting on P2 it was where I had no choice but to be on high alert just in case he does something stupid.

1672059929561.png

Race starts and indeed he was doing his usual dirty tactics like forcing someone go on the grass by not giving the other player enough room and sometimes the former combined with a divebomb. At the second clip as soon as opened the door I immediately took advantage and was able to regain the lead despite closing the door too late though I think this may have been a dirty move on my part when I passed him after opening the door and I'm willing to take the blame if its indeed a dirty move.

Just when you thought it was done he wasn't done just yet when he barged right in again and at that point me and the fellow DR A+ driver had enough of his driving so the latter decided to do the same thing while I took advantage. With him out of the way we ended up having a final lap battle where I was able to come out on top because the DR A+ driver had too many mistakes on the last parts of the track including his two tires mowing the grass and that alone he lost some speed and it allowed me to take the lead at the last moment and from there it was a drag race to the finish where I just had enough speed and gap to win this race.

Now for the second session it wasn't anything eventful because while the dirty driver started on P2 again, he got borked by a player who started in P3 by divebombing which almost was a success but wasn't able to capitalize it on the exit and ended up getting oofed by the dirty driver. With those two fighting it allowed me to break away and win with a 10 second gap.

Overall while I enjoyed this daily, I do agree with one of the posters here where this could've been better with the Sports Softs or for me personally at least Sports Mediums also would have been fine enough for me. I do hope I can get some stints without that dirty driver popping up.

I'm 1000% sure Race B will be a wreck-fest this week so will only use 2nd account for it. Might try Race C mostly this week. Poor choices from PD again.

Also, they really should allow you to change cars when doing qualy laps (just like single player time trials) as exiting every time is annoying. That and the 1+ min wait after every race is stupid...

I think I see it from both directions. There are pros and cons. The simpler a race is the more broad appeal it has. However, it’s also a lot less interesting to the core players who play every week. Would be cool if there was enough people online to have multiple of each race category. I don’t hate this week tbh. Daytona is a bit disappointing though, I agree with you there.

I look forward to trying to get fast this week with y’all:). Probably going to stick to race B for half the week then try race C for the second half.

I finally fired up Sport Mode on my second account. Tried to set a qualifying time in the WRX for Race B but just couldn't get the handle of the car, the wheel, and pedals for this circuit. Something to practice with as soon as I can afford one I guess :D

So I grabbed the GT-R and set a 3:25:xx which really isn't too bad. The last time I played this circuit on controller with the WRX I ran a 3:23 so I'm not too far off of comfortable pace.... WHEN I CAN STRING A LAP TOGETHER WITHOUT SPINNING AND DYING

Second place grid position. 11th place finishing position, out of the 11 runners at the finish. Spun, hit wall, straightened out. Ran 5 more corners, did it again.
I know what I'm doing wrong, getting on the throttle too early, or trying to be on throttle with a wheel or two on the grass. Can't be doing those things lolol

I'm getting there though. Get my mechanics really dialed in and I'll be good to go. The only thing I've found I don't like is that on controller when you run over the rumble strips/curbs you hear AND get vibration sensations.
I don't get that on the G29. Maybe I have a setting wrong, maybe that's just something I have to learn to live with. idk

Hey so you also changed to a g29 recently, cool. Glad to see I'm not the only one struggling with it 😂
I dropped from a mid B/S to a low C/S in like a week now I'm slowly climbing back. About the feedback I feel that too, it's either too much or too little. I guess it's a g29 thing I don't know 🤷

I've had a g29 for about 4 years now and I found out it doesn't have much power potential. So. What you have to do is set the ffb to 3 or 4 at the highest and sensitivity to 1 or 2. This is because the wheel only has so much power to work with and with these settings too high you are asking for 130% power which is impossible and your wheel just gets overwhelmed and "clips" giving you false information. The curbs still aren't great but will be better. Also if you haven't already plug your wheel into a pc and update the wheels firmware. There was an update after GT7 launch.

Yeah I've been using the ffb on 4/3 the last few days and seems the closest to ideal so far, the curbs are hit or miss still.
I'll take a look at that update though, I didn't know about it, thank you 👍

You explained that very well. Simple but precise 🍻 is there any way to update the firmware without having access to a pc? Why can’t we just do it on a PlayStation? Coding I assume but as you can probably tell I have a very limited amount of knowledge of computer science 😏 🍻

Apparently the teleport glitch is available in this week's Daily Race B.

If so, do we think PD will change the race like they did last time? And if so, should we even bother trying this race at all?
Let’s hope so🙏 if PD does change the race it would be one of their better decisions. This race/track/car combo is not for me. So boring. I know some people talk about having a hard time keeping concentration on the longer tracks but these short repetitive laps i seem to be losing interest fast. 🍻

It's "available" in all races, because it's a feature, but it's rarely of any use.

I don't see how it's useful this week - there's two spots that send you back 50 yards - but maybe there's a spot I don't know about yet.

I knew there was a firmware update but I bought this second hand from a GT Planet member so I know it's updated. I'll look for the FFB settings and see what I'm at, if I can adjust to get a better feel I know I can be faster, thanks!

Hey all, I mentioned this a few days ago but did not get any follow-up:

I no longer see a red banner on opponents cars during daily races when they incur a penalty. It's definitely a handicap. I can see the banner on replay, but not the race itself. Is anyone else experiencing this? Can I fix it?

I'm one of those who can't keep focus on long tracks, but I'm thinking I might have the same issue with this one also. I hope not. I'm just about to start Q now, so we'll see.

It's the week after Christmas. PD expects a bunch of newbies this week who just got the game. Sport Mode will be tailored to intro style races for a week or 2.

The one I found telepored me forwards about 50 yards. It's not of any use, but it made me wonder if there were other places to teleport from.
I'm not sure if the weird ghost car belongs to someone who had to get up from the game, got disconnected, or they were trying something. The forward teleports concerns me though. In a custom race I purposely sat on the main pit entry for a few seconds. Auto replace car is off. I found myself in the middle of the starting grid. The car should have stayed put with that setting off. I also don't see why pit road is considered off track. I could have just hit the gas and driven through or stopped for a beer (does Luca have DoorDash from the cafe?).
I also found the '84 Skyline weighs a tad over 2,300 pounds and has 500+ horsepower in this restrictor plate race. The HP to weight ratio is better than any other Gr 3 car and it's not even close. I'm not sure why because the car handles like it's on rails.
