I do not like Alsace.
I do not like it with a van. I do not like it in a can. I do not like it forwards. I would not like it with more boards. I do not like it backwards. I would not like it with placards. I do not like it fast. I do not like it with gas. I do not like it slow. I would not like it with a bow.

Did I make my point!? lol.

One thing on the turns in any race: in general if your front bumper is alongside the leading car's door and you're on the inside, you have the right to pass. If the other car turns into you, it'll ghost. You must share the road if necessary, this means braking a bit sooner.
If you're further back, you do not have that right and you need to brake a hair sooner. You may not even split the track, you must yield the entire width to the
leading car.
If you're on the outside and your bumper is even with or ahead of the leading car's door, brake a bit sooner and aim to apex in the middle of the road. This gives them room to race. They'll probably pull away, but this prevents a crash.
I’m new online. Thanks for this information. Some of us bad drivers are trying, though that probably doesn’t make up for our disruptions.

I’ll see if I can find more racing rules in this forum. Again, thanks.

This has been explained pretty thoroughly in this thread, not too long ago. IIRC, @Famine talked about it. I'm sure you can find the posts about it if you do some creative searches in this topic.
Got it thank you, hey not sure if you were in one of my races today, but the GTR is working really well for me in Race B....it's like the one that can beat the WRX

@BruceAlmighty
Fun race B with you tonight. I was on alt as deputy_fishtail and at least I hope that was you (LoL) I gave the bump draft to help you hold p2 on last lap after a .5 penalty. They were coming in hot behind us ;-)
Hey i was there too, under the name EJ.....that last race b was a lot of fun since drivers drove with respect it was pretty calming...

Race C is 7 laps med, 3 laps hard. If you're top 5, start mediums and hope to scooch away.
Some do 8 laps medium, 2 laps hard.
It's not for me.though....

Had fun on the B and C races tonight. Got my first ever podium (3rd) on B, up from 6th. I switched from my regular cars to the Audi TT (that was the one that came in 3rd) and then finally got to grips with the WRX. That was a faster race and I ended 4th, up from 5th.

The C races were super fun. Switched to the Audi and that was much more competitive than the Ferrari I was driving before.

1st Race I started mid pack on mediums and worked my way up to 4th and was right there with 1, 2 and 3 but at pits figured they were on hard and then had advantage. I switched on lap 6 but didn’t feel happy with the hards at that point and started to drive poorly. Finally had an off and ended up near the back. Still it was a fun competitive race until I messed up on lap 9.

For race 2 I figured a different lap strategy would be better. I planned to start on hard (while it’s usually chaos), pit on 3 then finish off on mediums. I started 5th and the first lap was quite aggressive, lots of bumping. I had some mistakes and some bumps and lost a ton of spots. I ended up behind some slower cars so I pitted on lap 2 to get my mediums and to get clear track. That worked amazingly well. For 4 laps it was like time trialing. First I thought I made a mistake but as the other pits started to play out I gradually moved up to top 5 from last place. In the end I was able to take 4th after they made a mistake.

I was very happy, considering I’m still new to all this.

Oh yeah, I started to recognize some names in some of the races. Probably none of this crew though as you’re probably too good for D rated races. ☺️

Some do 8 laps medium, 2 laps hard.
It's not for me.though....
That’s what worked for me tonight. I’m much happier on the mediums.

I just did the GP layout 3 times, and 3 times I was divebombed by someone making me spin, this was the most frustrating morning in a long time, I haven't spend much time doing daily races so prob has to do with my still B rating, I hope the lobby gets better in A ?? Because this wasn't my preception of fun

Generally, I've had the most clean races - by far - in middle to high B/S lobbies. In low DR A lobbies - where I am with my main account right now - it often gets quite unfriendly😬.

That sucks, but no, it doesn't necessarily get better in A. You stand the best chance of a race being clean if you get in an all SR S lobby, but even then things happen.

I'm not suggesting you did anything wrong to provoke a divebomb, but in the future it might help to review the replay or recording, to see what actually happened. Sometimes things look differently upon review. And sometimes not, but still, it's worth a look. It might also give you some insight into how to avoid being divebombed in a specific corner, in the future. Or maybe not, but like I said, it's still worth a look.

Close; it assesses your time through a minisplit.

You know when your gap to the car in front/your ghost/the car behind updates? That's a minisplit. If you go faster through a minisplit than you should* while also going off-track, you get a penalty.

*Yamauchi said to us that this was measured compared to AI; I'm not completely sold on that, as we're all quicker than AI everywhere anyway, but also I'm not sure how else it could be done - compared to cars around you maybe? Compared to your own times from lap two onwards?
Thanks for the info about the microsplits, it makes it a lot easier to forgive other's mistakes knowing they see things differently.

However, I can't understand how they determine the reference...I see advantage gained/lost all the time in races from corner cutting. If the reference is the cars around, it seems if the opponent driver lifted in anticipation of their opponent running wide, they could encourage a penalty be given.

If the AI is the reference, that makes more sense as to why it's so wonky. If they set the AI fastest time as X, if you're slower, all you do is cut a corner to gain time. Get a bad exit out of T1? Cut T2 because your entrance speed will allow you to stay within the split? That would explain a lot I see during races and quali.

True, maby that is a good idea, I was to frustrated now, I was clean all 3 time imo, but there are always 2 sides of a story that is true indeed.
From now on I'm participating in alot more daily races because I completed all other things/cars so now I have time to build my online career 🤣
Thanks for the tips,

I'm not sure I follow, or that you've picked up on what minisplits are.

To see what I mean, go do a qualifying lap anywhere, then crawl round the next lap. Every time your gap updates (the blue or red timing difference figures), that's a minisplit. It happens every few dozen yards.

While a regular lap contains 3-4 splits/sectors, it could contain 50+ minisplits.

If you go off-track and pass between two minisplits faster than you "should", you get a penalty. Previous minisplits aren't relevant, so I don't see what a bad T1 has to do with cutting T2 when you'll have passed at least three minisplits between them and the penalty system only cares about your time through minisplits while off-track.

It's also gameable; it was the basis of the Goodwood cheat - you could cut the chicane, but then had to swerve across the track between two minisplits so that the game didn't recognise the return to track and give you a penalty.

Great! Hopefully we'll meet in a daily race soon!👍

EDIT: Thanks to as couple of other members, I already have my answer, which was what I kind-of expected: It was my fault and I should have braked earlier. And even though I personally wouldn't have done what he did, for the exact reason of what happened, I can't fault someone for doing something legitimate. Next time I'll brake earlier. :D

What's my responsibility here? Someone passed me (legitimately) and swung in front of me right before a hard turn. I thought I had slowed early enough to not hit him, but obviously I was wrong. It was only a tap, but it was at the exact wrong time for him, so I ended up killing him.

As I said, I did try to brake early enough (even though I failed). But it seems to me that if you pass someone that close to a hard turn, it's not a great idea to pull in front of him, because this sort of thing could definitely happen. And if I were the guy who passed, I wouldn't have done it.

Here's a 23 second video showing the incident:

FYI, afterwords I would have pulled over and waited for him, but he didn't recover and exited the game.

I felt bad I hit him, of course. But I'd like to hear your thoughts on the subject.

Awesome! It can be a lot of fun, but also frustrating at times. Still, with the right attitude, it's totally worth it. Of course, maintaining a good attitude is sometimes harder than completing "The Human Comedy"...

I'm not one of those guys who tells everyone to do extensive searches before asking questions (in fact, I haven't really seen that attitude on this forum at all). But it wouldn't hurt to skim through some of the past posts in this thread, because I know I've learned an absolute ton from the people here. But whether you do or don't, let us know how things are going! Hope to see you on the track sometime.

I think this is entirely on you unfortunately. He didn't really "swing" in front of you, he overtook you and drifted over to the racing line in good time and left you good space with plenty of time for you to adjust yourself before the actual braking zone.

He could've stayed over to the left more, but ultimately he had no actual reason to compromise his racing line when he had gapped you whilst carrying more speed than you. The corner was his by that point.

Unfortunately i gotta agree 1oo% with nebuc on this. It was a good pass and if i was in that position, i hit the brakes at or just before the advertisement board. Makes sure if the guy is fast you can bleed off the brakes a bit early aswell and follow him through the chicane on his bumper, possibly even get a better exit and a pass before t1.

It makes sense, so I think I already knew the answer, but I appreciate having it confirmed. Still, I'm not sure I would have done that if I were him, but I can't fault him for doing something reasonable. And like I said, I did try to give him room, but I didn't do a very good job of it. Live and learn, which is one of the reasons I love this forum.

Man I was wondering who did that, thank you very much. I was so nervous starting P1 and was
over driving my lines and thought sure I would finish at 3 or 4. I started P2 later and got my
first win in over a month.

Once again THANK YOU

Nothing to add on this but something that I have noticed with the WRX in particular. Do the damn brake lights work?. I can't see them on this vid and I've had issues myself with them not displaying on cars in front of me

Hey, where can I find you guys on the GT7 sport mode? I forgot your usernames, mine is rising_glass1. I got my second victory at Monza. I pulled a good QT at Atlanta which was in the 1'28.000 range. How much speed can I get out of the width of the track and what is the best car to use, I tried the Corvette instead of the WRX car.

My primary account is "Grumpy Old Man" and my secondary is "SloMo". If you want to friend me, my primary account's PSN is "dagware". Don't bother friending my secondary account, because I don't use it very often. But since I've had a terrible time in this week's Daily Race B, I figured I'd ruin the DR on my secondary account.

I'll send you a friend request now. My PSN is Nebuc72.

My PSN is BritGuyInUSA with my nickname as TheSlowGreyOne but I think I’ll change that back to TheNormsk today as I’m getting less slow 😀.

Still my DR is lowly D. I think I need some races with terrible/no qualifying times so I can gain DR by moving up the board from the back….

I had a 1:27.316 in the WRX...... basically I turned off the TSC since it's 4wd helps prevent any slipping when pressing the gas....also in the downhill esses I actually put my two tires slightly on the grass and it helps turn the car for that tight left hander,

I think you meant SR? Because DR you gain by finishing well, qualy or not. Preferably on the top half of the players in the race.
