2 more races for me tonight. I found my @GrumpyOldMan "Zone" during practice and knocked my qualifying time down to a 4:01.6XX. More than a second from yesterday. Incredible!

Race 1 has me in P4 to start thanks to the new time. There was no rain, but it did get cloudy and looked like it was going to. I actually lead the race for the opening lap but was a sitting duck on the Mulsanne straight on lap 2. I probably could have kept the lead, but I go way deep into the Mulsanne Corner and drop to P3. Where I stay until the final lap. Thanks to some terrible driving from me, P4 catches up on the last lap. I defend successfully until the final chicanes where they go off track, re-enter, and manage to hit the rear of my car (the back Viper to avoid confusion).

I had a podium finish right in front of me, but a driver takes me out. I finish P7. Sigh....

Race 2 has me in P5 and the wheels come off for me this race. I had 4 laps with off track penalties which doesn't help. Since I couldn't get the slip I was in no mans land most of the race. A driver made a lunge at the Mulsanne Corner, and I didn't appreciate that. So I swerved my car into their car before Arnage to show my displeasure. They took me out at the Mulsanne Corner the next lap, so fair play to them. It did start to rain rather steadily on lap 4, but not enough to warrant a pit stop for Intermediate tires. I actually run into another driver at the end of the Porsche Curves as I was trying to get my track radar back on my screen. They didn't spin or anything so no harm there. Fortunately, despite all the problems I had, I finish P6.

I'm still having some fun out there. I don't know why, but this combo is great in my opinion. I'll try and find some time this weekend to get some more races in which I normally don't do. I was also right about my problem with me being unable to save replays as I had too many saved.

Not where else to post this...

Apparently the word "happened" is on the prohibited list.

I like to upload certain races during the post race lobby with my instant reaction in the comments, for posterity.

It took me ages to whittle down what the offending word could be
I once tried to thank @sturk0167 for “escorting” me through a race, taking hits and shielding me from the trash behind us. The message didn’t go through because I think it thought I was calling him a prostitute?!

Today I was lucky enough to get matched with Z28. He's a legend, for those who don't know.
I was behind him on the final lap. I bumped him up to Damian_Canadian, who is a daily race alien.
Instead of bumping him again, I bumped Damian, to hopefully create a conflict.
Once, I saw that they were gonna enter the turn side by side, I decided to try the @GOTMAXPOWER route.
I guess Damian was aware of it, as well. We were both surprised that the other had tried it.
Z28 had no clue what had happened.
I screwed up, and clipped the wall, exiting Arnage. I got 5th, but had fun. Damian and I had a laugh about it in the post-race chat.
Here is Z28's stream.

What an up-and-down day at Laguna! Lots of fun, but several times my wife thought someone must have shot me or something, with the way I was hollering. What can I say? I'm Grumpy!

Last race dropped my SR to A. Surprised it didn't happen sooner.

Chronological, with the most recent race at the top:

How did you fat that chart?

Why does everyone want to "send it" all the time on Laguna. Like....why. I give the guys in front space and of course guy behind me comes barreling through T1 or T5. Some really bad drivers today man. Maybe I'll finally give the road trip through Nevada simulation a try.

Props: Bump drafting down Mulsanne

Sliops: Bumping post Mulsanne Kink with 100 meters before the braking zone

oof. There's some drivers out there who aren't quite understanding when to start backing off of the bump. If I'm the bumping car I back off shortly past the kink so that I can spot my line in and give the guy in front the chance to make a mistake that I can capitalize on. If I'm the car being bumped I pull off to the side or flash my indicator to the direction I intend to go so I don't get caught up in someone elses mistake.

I still get caught up in someone elses mistake... cries in SR

I was mad at the end of the race though. I was in 5th on the last lap when 4th has gone off track and was rejoining in the Porsche Bends. I passed and took 4th. Then in the Kart-S bend, it looks like they deliberately pushed me off track. I lost three spots in that one move.

Does this look deliberate to you?

Up to that point I'd been having a good race; nice and clean. Moved from 8th to 5th and survived the rain. Then this ****head pulls off this maneuver and in a few seconds I lose three spots, just seconds from of the flag. 👿

Damian has been trying that all week in Europe, I'm sure it's slower but it looks funny whenever it catches the other player out.

Get well soon mate!

I had my first ever, real life GT7 nightmare last night! In my dream, PD replaced all the cars for the Daily Races with wizard kids on broomsticks!! 🤣 I'm dead serious!

Note to self: Don't watch ****** game previews after 10pm. You can't handle it 🤐
If the [Redacted] game doesn't have daily races with wizards on broomsticks now I'm going to be disappointed

Yep all those laps and casual obsession with the 24 hours a few years back pays off nicely when it pops up in a daily
Definitely! I did jump back on yesterday and managed three more back to back wins. Had a great first and third race with really clean competition, the second had two rather nasty Russians who were taking cars out left, right and centre but I managed to avoid them.

On a similar note, I do find it hard not to immediately be angered when seeing the Russian flag online. It just seems really unfair that you can causally play games while your country attacks its neighbour. Don't get me wrong, the minute Russia stop the invasion, this feeling will go and I'll be routing for them to turn things around, but currently it's hard not to be aggrevated :(

For those using Fanatec DD - have any of you installed the new driver pack? If so, thoughts?
I don't know if this a joke I didn't get or a game or I haven't heard of?
Highway 50 - the loneliest road in America, it will get you to the most remote National Park (Great Basin). Wild mustangs are often the only other mammal you will see for hours.

Regarding assists - I kept them on until I realized it was going to get me killed irl. I have a fantasy of translating sim racing to Kart racing and when I went to the kart track, I really struggled.

Not saying one method is superior, but I was able to turn them off and keep them off by paying more attention to the scenery than the track. I look for the rubber on the track as my braking marker, where curbs begin or end, some random tree that won't move between qualifying and the race, billboards, etc. There are ALWAYS markers.

A friend who karts and sim races recommended turning it all off. I did so and found 8 seconds...on the kart track. It may take a bit longer to familiarize myself with a new sim racing circuit, but maybe just a couple extra laps, and running the circuit slow a few times helps a lot.

However, the Green Hell is one track where racing and braking line assists would ABSOLUTELY help me be faster. I completely flail between the first and second carousels because I am lost and can't remember brake points and the race line. Last night was the first time I got a P1 against the AI in a Gr3 race and that required I just follow them until I knew where I was again, then pass them on the long long straight.

Whoa! I’ve got the Fanatec DD but I don’t know what you’re referring to. What up?

And if you’re actually driving Highway 50, that sound like fun!

Ok I admit it, I'm totally addicted to Race A. So much fun. I managed to get my quali down to 1.27.0xx and even though I've got another 2 or 3 tenths in me, I just can't string the thing together. It all hinges on getting turn 1 right and when I do, the pressure is unbearable 🤣

It brings me to the point of being a little disappointed once again that there are no 'ranked' options for this kind of race. I can't deny the fun factor, but there's been some really competitive, clean racing this week and it's such a shame to walk away at the same DR level and a maximum of 15,000 credits in your pocket.

I've found a new mini-game to play in daily race C, it's called follow the streamer as close as possible all the way through the Porsche curves:

Race C is so boring!
I disagree, in the strongest possible terms!
