2 more races for me tonight. I found my @GrumpyOldMan "Zone" during practice and knocked my qualifying time down to a 4:01.6XX. More than a second from yesterday. Incredible!
Race 1 has me in P4 to start thanks to the new time. There was no rain, but it did get cloudy and looked like it was going to. I actually lead the race for the opening lap but was a sitting duck on the Mulsanne straight on lap 2. I probably could have kept the lead, but I go way deep into the Mulsanne Corner and drop to P3. Where I stay until the final lap. Thanks to some terrible driving from me, P4 catches up on the last lap. I defend successfully until the final chicanes where they go off track, re-enter, and manage to hit the rear of my car (the back Viper to avoid confusion).
I had a podium finish right in front of me, but a driver takes me out. I finish P7. Sigh....
Race 2 has me in P5 and the wheels come off for me this race. I had 4 laps with off track penalties which doesn't help. Since I couldn't get the slip I was in no mans land most of the race. A driver made a lunge at the Mulsanne Corner, and I didn't appreciate that. So I swerved my car into their car before Arnage to show my displeasure. They took me out at the Mulsanne Corner the next lap, so fair play to them. It did start to rain rather steadily on lap 4, but not enough to warrant a pit stop for Intermediate tires. I actually run into another driver at the end of the Porsche Curves as I was trying to get my track radar back on my screen. They didn't spin or anything so no harm there. Fortunately, despite all the problems I had, I finish P6.
I'm still having some fun out there. I don't know why, but this combo is great in my opinion. I'll try and find some time this weekend to get some more races in which I normally don't do. I was also right about my problem with me being unable to save replays as I had too many saved.
