Nobody is speaking about Race A?

Okay, somebody has to, so I'll do it: It's good fun. Try it!

I did some qualifying laps and quickly jumped into a race, where to my surprise I found myself in pole position. Had a good start, nobody did anything stupid, and so I drove ahead of the field for 4 laps. And as usual, just when I thought that I might win, I binned it at the end of lap 4 and got overtaken by P2 and P3.

But I was able to hang on this time, got a run on both of them in the downhill right hander, and then the seas parted and Moses went right through to the promised land:

🥳

A victory in my first race of the week? That doesn't happen all that often. What do I do now for the rest of the week?😆

The driving (especially in time trial/qualifying) is actually a bit counterintuitive: avoid sliding as much as possible. Don't accelerate too early out of corners, often it's better to coast and wait until the car is straightened out. And don't brake in the final right hander (yes, really!), just lift and coast until you can step on the throttle again. Have fun!🍻

Can confirm - it is good fun.

First race was a bit of a challenge, started P4, got knocked about by everybody and finished 11th!

Next two races, started P2, finished P2. P1 was 30 seconds ahead at the end of the first of those two races, not bad going for a 5 lap race!

Next race, started on pole, led from start to finish - this is definitely a race where being up front, and keeping it there, is a big advantage. Gets a bit messy further back.

We had a yellow flag in one race, but I couldn't work out what that could have been for? Is it possible to go off track? Also, damage appears to be on, which is a bit strange on a track where a lot of contact is to be expected.

Yes, when you are ahead, not caught up in traffic, you can drive like in TT mode and gain a lot of time (that is, if you aren't a nervous breakdown waiting to happen when in the lead, like... ummm.... me 😆).

Well, ran two laps in the RSR 911 and crushed the 1:42 barrier. Was able to get 1:41:223! Saved the replay in the showcase for everyone tagged gtp8. If I ran it about 50 more times I should be able to get into 1:40s but I figure would be best to just race now for a while and get to know the track that way (while hopefully getting a podium or two!). Will try tonight!

Anyone tried the race, what QT times are people lining up with? BS driver.
Thanks for the ghost. Running a 1.41.6 right now as a B. Can get under a .41 I think as I'm either level or just ahead of your ghost for 3/4 of a lap. Last 2 corners is where I'm falling back. Post my QT under GTP8 in the gallery.

My goal is to focus on race B today, maybe get a win or two, and experiment with C later in the week. I've never driven GR2, but I much prefer the longer races with pit strategy, etc.

Dissappinted B is only 4 laps... gonna make starting up front crucial

Awesome! I'm excited to load yours and compare. Let's both get under 1:41 together!

Put in about 30 laps this afternoon during the lunch break and I tried the GT-R and 911.

Really impressed by those who are fast driving the Porsche as I'm more than a second slower using it instead of the Nissan.

Happy with my final lap before having to work again and I am sure I can dip into the 1:39s with a bit more practice. Was going to manage it a few times but I made mistakes towards the final chicane after Sector 2.

Really hoping the racing is cleaner this week as I was almost in tears over the weekend 🤞🏻🤐

So I did 1 lap in the Hyundai and got a 1.41.1xx(118 I think). Tried to then beat that lap and couldn’t do it. Tried 3 or 4 others and was getting mid 41’s. Was racing ACC last night at Catalunya and I can tell I’m trying to drive the like I was on ACC. will try again tomorrow

And now I match yours pretty much. Forgot to save the replay in my excitement. From what I recall I think it's turn 5 (the first slow left) that I made up the time to your ghost so that might be somewhere for you to pick up some time

A fella’s gotta find a way to overtake somehow. This one is literally an “over”take!
Ready to cleanse my palette after last week's Race C. How's everyone's lap times looking? Is the Nissan the strong one here?
Top times in the non-alien range are below 1:44, but on a Monday it’s pretty varied. The Nismo ‘16 is the meta, but I’m liking the RC F. Also, the NSX allowed me to do 6 laps on soft tires. So there are some strategic options. Also, the sun sets on lap 9 so it’s a nice change of pace.

Did a race this evening and went reasonably well. Started P10 and will admit, was extremely (maybe too much) cautious after the ram-fest that was last week!

Lost a few places by nudge overtakes at the start but no real punts, which was nice. Didn't really fight it either and just did my race, clean and careful.

Finished in P11 with a clean race bonus so optimistic it won't be a hell week like the last one... Only myself and another player had the GT-R, everyone else had the 911 but spotted a Jaguar and an Infinity in the mix. Good luck all 😅

Sometimes I'm a bit stubborn. Have I said that before? Of course I have.

I wanted to do two or three more races A, but then realized that someone on my friends list had posted a new personal best, a low 1:29. "Quite good, but I might get there, too", is what I thought.

Easier said than done, though, but I just couldn't stop, and after a grind of almost two hours I ended up with a 1:28:5, (P37 globally when I switched off the console). I shared the replay, tagged with #gtp8 and #renaultturbo, if anyone is interested. My lines are not even that great in this lap, but I nailed the final three corners.

The Ford GT (Spec II) is pretty good fun in race B if you don’t want to join the Porsche party.

4 laps is too short.
I've been preaching this car is good at a lot of different tracks for months and months. Got a Manu win with it at Fuji.

It's never been META, and probably never will be. But she can nip at the heels of the cars that are... and sometimes leave them in the dust.

Either I have to spend a lot more time learning this track and improving my QT (Race B), or I have to resign myself to dropping down to DR B. And honestly? That's just fine with me. I'm not really having any fun right now.
I finally made it to DR A at the end of last week. Got a new wheel and pedals today. On top of that being way harder to figure out than I anticipated and this track I'm looking at a DR C by the end of this week.

I'm just not able to get into a flow and the first bad corner feeds all the way into the last corner. I ran one race tonight and finished p14 27secs off the leader.

The load cell is really throwing me for a loop. I just can't wrap my head around the lack of travel.

Overall I'm about 1.5 secs off my g29 times. Granted I have a decade of experience with those.
