Sooo... I just ordered a PS5 (let's see if it gets delivered, I've not kept myself informed about its availability or lack of availability lately).

The only reason for this is that I want to meet @TechnoIsLove in daily races. And some other guys from this forum thread. That's why I posted it here 😆.

Well, no, I'm kidding, of course that's not the only reason. But at least it gave me a final nudge in that direction. And I'll finally be able to give my daughter her PS4 back...🤣

Which brings me to my question: how does the change work, in regards to questions like transmitting my accounts, upgrading my purchase of GT7 (?) and so on. Does a forum thread about that exist? Thanks in advance for any helpful advice to mitigate the consequences of my knee-jerk action...😜

You don't need to do anything really, log in on your PS5, download the game (or buy the PS5 upgrade from the store) and you're in - your save will carry over automatically.

Only thing that doesn't transfer is local files such as unshared liveries, replays etc.

I don't recall any problems with the transition from the PS4 to PS5.

If I recall there are differences in the PS4 version than the 5 version of GT7. I know the PS4 Version will work on the 5.

I feel the love ❤️🤣 Really happy for you to get the upgrade! I think it will be free to get the PS5 version but don't quote me!

Tried just now to give it one last chance, to see if just yesterday happened to be a bad day.

Logged into 2nd account starting P14. Was driving clean, fast and precise. By lap 3, between genuine overtakes and people crashing, I was up to P7 and just a second behind the first group making up the top places.

Noticed (before the race) one guy had an A/C rating and he was in front of me. I overtook after he made a small mistake and went wide. I lasted in P6 for less than a few seconds as I soon found myself in the gravel, with damage, and down to P13.

You can imagine why... 😤😢💩 Finished P12 and turned off the console. Not planning to play again today.

Good luck all

Tried some online lobbies for daily B (Gr3 at Catalunya), seems really good. The Jag is really competitive too so makes a change from the endless miles of Porsche 911 understeer (not sure how this is consistently the quickest). Looks like those top will be in the 1:38s, possibly the 1:37s with a few cars looking quick, Mazda RX, Jaaaag, Porsche, WRX. A nice little spread.

One thing that is grinding my gears though is, predictably, other drivers. Turn 5 I usually take a wide entry and a late apex to get the car as straight as possible as early as possible, but because of the wide entry apparently that's an invitation for everyone to stick it up the inside regardless, even though they know that gap will disappear. On that corner it usually means a lovely pirouette and a trip to the gravel.
I can't tell you how many times in general people just stick it up the inside and push you wide, almost 'wall riding' my car around the corner. It's as if everyone has taken the famous Senna line 'if you no longer go for a gap you are no longer a racing driver' to heart waayyyy too much, even if that gap doesn't exist in the first place.

Regardless should be a fun one.

Reading some of the posts on load cells made me wonder if I'm short-changing myself with the brake load cell on my Logitech Pro pedals. (In case you don't know, it's adjustable in multiple ways.) I thought that a softer brake pedal would give me more of a chance at varying my braking speed. You know, longer travel, easier to find 1/4, 1/2, etc. But now I'm wondering if that's wrong thinking. I know that a harder brake, i.e. shorter travel, would make it quicker to get to full braking power. But is it possible that the shorter travel might make it easier to judge 1/4, 1/2, etc?

Yes, I can just try it and see, and I intend to do just that. But I wanted to hear your opinions too. Thanks!
I think you miss understand what they do.

Standard potentiometer pedals measure distance, load cells measure force. Even with weak spring settings they measure the speed and application over the pedal travel feeling much more like a car. Spring ratings are a personal preference soft or hard but the force applied and the speed of the force will be considered much more.

It's why trail braking is easier on them as you modulate pressure not force so to speak.

Just had a fantastic race at Daily Race B. For virtually the entire race, 6 or 7 of us were within 2-3 seconds of the lead. 4 of us dropped behind a little at the end (which I'll discuss below), but it was still really invigorating! I realize the winning time wasn't as fast as some others, but this was the first time I felt like I belonged up there with the other DR A drivers.

I got passed near the end of the final lap, and I'm curious if you guys have any suggestions of how I could have defended better. When we went around the corner, with me on the outside, I intentionally scraped paint with the other guy because I was afraid he'd push me off the track and I wanted to start the contact early. Fortunately, he was completely clean so I had nothing to worry about.

I could have defended the inside, but I knew if I did I'd probably lose it at the corner, because I haven't practiced an inside line on that corner, and I knew I wouldn't know what to do. So I basically just conceded to him. But still, I'm curious what other options I could have considered.

This 58 second video has multiple angles:

Do you guys practice corners like these using different lines, like the inside line, so you're prepared during a race?

I gave up that same corner many times this week and ended up practicing the inside line on some laps to try and get it right and not go too wide
Its the Slow way around but worked to defend a few times. I cringed the first time watching your video as the punt to the sand had happened to me in that spot too many times.
You did great by not giving up much.
I would have tucked In behind after the inside was taken and list more time being a bit more cautious.

Yeah it's notorious at this point. I tend to just stick it on the inside as you don't lose too much time and can still get a strong exit out, making it useless for the car behind to attack on the outside.

Of course the more desperate for that shiny 9th place will try and go over the grass on the inside as well but what can you do with those, lol.

Leaving it outside is tricky tbh with cars around, the camber makes it feel like driving on the edge of a table, it's why we'll no doubt see plenty in the sand there next week.

Yeah, well, that didn't last long. Took a break, then DNFed the next race. I hate this game (not really).

Reminds me of the time I was playing golf, and I shot one of the best rounds of my life - a 76. Next week, 96. How does the same person go from doing so well to doing so poorly? I don't know, but if it's gonna happen to anyone, it's gonna happen to me.

Thanks, and yeah, if I had been thinking rationally, I would have just slid in behind him also. Too many Macho Burritos, or something like that.

I feel the love ❤️🤣
:D

Thanks to everyone for the feedback, especially @Nebuc72, @Andy M and @newmedia_dev for their responses, which will make me sleep better tonight (instead of waking up sweating like "oh no, what have I done!" 🤣)

Just one additional question: is the PS5 downward compatible in general? I mean, can my kids install their PS4 games on it, too?

It doesn't come with a lot of space out of the box (about 650 GB) but yes, and there may be some free PS5 upgrades they can download for certain games as well.

So my experience was super simple. Plug the system in, sign in with my playstation account, head to the store and download the games I'd already purchased and start playing from where i left off.

You might have to upload your game saves to the cloud from the PS4 so the save data transfers, GT7 is a special case because the data is stored on PD's end rather than locally - but PS4 games as a whole work flawlessly on PS5.

Mine was almost plug and play, login and it was all there but other peeps mileage may vary

edit for typo.

I know race B was not kind to many of you this week, but it was to me. had some really good races and racing through the week.

I have 2 vids to share. the first is just two short clips that show me side by side through a couple turns with someone, and although he gets the better of me, I stayed close enough to pressure him into a mistake 1 lap later.

the second is 5:22 from the middle of a race this morning that is a great example of the kind of racing I was able to partake in this week. first shown in tv style replay then from my driving point of view. I do wish however that I was able to have the radar on in the second part, as that is how I race, not with the map....

not sure about this weeks races, might just focus on the time trial....

It was a good news, bad news sort of situation.

I didn't actually choke, per se... I just sucked a lot.

That's awesome! As others have said, enjoy the faster load times.

I bought mine early last year for $1,000 and considered myself lucky to have gotten it. (I never had a PS4 - my last one was a PS3.) Some might say that's a lot of money to pay, and it was, but considering that between Ratchet & Clank and GT7, it cost me something like 50 cents per hour played (assuming my math still works), it has been worth it.

I hope you actually receive it. Fingers crossed.

I've managed to confuse myself, so I'm hoping y'all can straighten me out.

The clock starts at the same time for all of us, right? So if P2 just barely beats P1, is it possible for P2 to have a slower time? He has more distance to travel, right?

I have a feeling next week Race B might not go well for me... seeing people at 1:40 and even 1:39. Best I can muster is low 1:42 with Jag. Tried GTR and porsche 911... similar times. I'm going to try some other cars tonight.

Any DR-B drivers on forum try this yet?

Although the start of last week I was a ways off the pace and got myself back into respectable qualies

I got mine by heading to best buy and asking for a new xbox. they said they didn't have any but I could put my name on a list at the support counter. sitting on the back of the counter was the only ps5 they had in stock. I asked if it was for sale, they said yes, I took it home. sometimes better to be lucky than good.

Clock is irrelevant in the race. It's only finishing position. So if P2 wins can never have slower time than P1

P1 can win and have slower time than P2 though
