Decent run in my first race starting P5, full dry race. Bad last lap including a 0,5 sec penalty cost me a chance to fight for P3/P4. The gaps were quite big overall which was a shame. But might be a good week to get my secondary American account high enough so that I can have fun starting from the back 🤔 I do 1 or 2 more on main account. Kinda hoping for one weather chaotic race, never had one such yet in sport mode, been skipping these types of races so far.

Ran a bunch of race C last night playing with the 08 Lexus. Got into a match with 1 driver in a 16 GTR who rammed me straight head on into the wall in the Curves lap 1 then gets mad when I catch them end of thebrsce and run them wide into the sand at Arnage. Was it mean, yes, but them bump passing me twice more later in the night and several other comments to them from other drivers shows that they have no regard for other cars on track. And they probably claim their SR B is a mistake. Oh well.

Only had 1 wet race and after the previous disasters I stayed on Mediums. Driver who started on IM won by 40 odd seconds. Whoops.

P8 (P10 starting position) in a tough lobby & P8 (started P6) in my third race. Finally got some rain chaos in the third race I did. Looked like 50/50 if rain would keep light or get stronger end of lap 1. Stayed out - big mistake. I saw 2-3 drivers get it right. Track looked still wet end of lap 2 so I went in for inters. Caught back up but then pretty much dry track last 2 laps. Not sure if the pit stop was worth it in the end doing it one lap late but probably did not lose that many more positions by doing that 🤔

Love Le Mans so figured that's where I'd be exclusively this week given the rest didn't inspire me much but man had I forgotten how much fun Kyoto's full layout is to drive. Really smooth feeling in the RSR as well so far. Nothing overly complicated but it means you can get a good feeling of speed going and some lovely views as it takes you up and down hills throughout.

Definitely one of the better originals for me.

Last race of the night at Daily C went really well, starting from P6 in the Lexus SC430. My concern with this week's Daily C is that at least for a PS4 user like me, the game keeps giving me 5 seconds or less to choose the tires I start on, so not enough time to choose.

But anyway, good first lap with the mediums, I got up to P3 after some drivers ahead struggled with the damp surface, changing the TCS to 1 sure helped. Rain stopped towards the end of lap 1. After that had a very good battle with a Spanish CLK LM driver throughout the race, slipstream helped at the beginning of the battle. On lap 3 I got up to P2 after the Spaniard served a 0,5 sec penalty, but my attacking line into the Porsche curves gave me also a 0,5 sec penalty, so I dropped from P2 to P3 on next lap, on lap 4.

Final lap then, stayed close to the Spaniard the whole lap, but just couldn't quite get close enough for a proper move - CLK LM was annoyingly good on top end and acceleration. Went for a half desperate move into the the last part of the last chicane, had a tap on the Spaniard and backed off from the move so as not to cause a spin, in the end finishing P3. Really good battle and a pretty good race c this week. I wish they always gave the full 30 sec timer to choose the starting tires though. No other complaints, other than I will say GT-R 2016 seems to be meta in the right hands. Such hands I do not have 🤷

@skidmark69, do you know what the weather is going to be like for the upcoming Daily Race at Le Mans? Is its weather ID the same as the previous Le Mans race?

This is too late to help with any speculation, but I just checked and the weather code for this week (https://static.gt7.game.gran-turismo.com/event/params/5578.json) is different from the no chicane gr.4 le mans race (https://static.gt7.game.gran-turismo.com/event/params/4668.json).

Just posting now cause interestingly the weather id for this week has been used for a previous daily race at le mans (https://static.gt7.game.gran-turismo.com/event/params/4400.json
https://www.gran-turismo.com/gb/gt7/sportmode/event/4400 )
but I don't remember that race having rain(?)

So the weather id alone isn't enough to really say too much I guess. A missing piece of the puzzle might be the time progression, and maybe PD have a way of locking the weather to a certain condition/progression for whatever weather pattern they use regardless of ID. Or maybe it's linked to time of day which is different between the two races.

Feels exactly the same as Spa.

Did some races on Monday, didn't bother yesterday and did a handful tonight. Can't be bothered with racing any more this week. People on B race like idiots, C is a one make race. I've dropped out of A+ which I put so much effort into getting, thanks to other people crashing me out and they face no consequences.

I think I'm probably going to take a few weeks off racing after my experience tonight, I just can not be bothered with it at all.

OK friends, I've thrown down the gauntlet:

As soon as I tried the GT-R NISMO GT3 '18, I improved my time by at almost a second. And I left tons of time out on the track. But as I said, come and get me, guys!

I uploaded the replay. Search for "gtp17".

Managed my first podium of the week. The livery is uninspired, but I'll work on it.

Welcome back!
I just brought you a present and hopefully this shows how much we missed you 😂

Tried a different approach in the same car and dropped close to a half second. Thank you for the incentive.

Race C seems to have just turned into a serious waste of time. People just ramming their way around the track, driving into each other on the straights, knocking folks into the gravel deliberately… was fun at the start of the week but no longer. Off to try my hand at Race B

Can someone tell me what's happening with the track selection in Daily Races? Every week, I look forward to new combinations, but almost every week I'm equally disappointed with the selection of combinations. They are so damn boring and repetitive. Where's Nordschleife? Where is gr b?

Good to see you back racing. Thanks for the replay. Helpful as always. Now to be a ghost hunter!!

I've become a bit self conscious of putting my vids in because I don't want to spam the thread so please shout if it's getting annoying.

Still on Race B atm but I'm going to be trying the Le Mans race later because of watching a few vids showing the mayhem when the rain falls.

In the meantime, I've been on my mission of getting new GR3 cars to drive:

I think my defensive skills might have been a bit too defensive in this race and I have zero idea what happened to the Ferrari at the end but not a bad result for the Hyundai. Bit more horsepower from the BoP and this could be a contender.

Speaking of Ferrari:

Only driven this once before and had a nightmare race and felt it needed redeeming. This was a good race getting a fourth place. As redemption goes I think that works. Now to redeem the Alfa 4C.

Thanks! Though next time, don't bother with the present. 😂

You're welcome, and I was wondering why I was getting chills down my spine. 😄

Ya, go to another game. There is zero incentive to drive clean. Once someone also learns where they can put you off and give you a penalty for hitting the wall, it's just not fun. There are attempts to fix it by PD, but they are usually just swings in the severity of said penalty. If you can make it to the A level, there is less shenanigans, but then sometimes it is just more experienced, clever shenanigans. It may be worth it if the races were longer, but a 10 mins wait for a terrible 7 mins race gets old. I think PD likes to keep the online hype up with GT Finals and Championships, but I don't think PD wants to really enhance the Sport mode as the game has always been about looking pretty and single player.
Ah, it's a shame. I love the game tbh. Im in the process of updating my rig but play off a PS so...not sure what other games are about that are half decent. I love the "Sim" aspect of it

Had my first hilarious race C. Started in the rain on mediums which I knew from the start was a mistake. Managed to get round with the weather radar signalling it was getting heavier so dived in at the end of lap 1 for some inters.

Inexperience with the pits meant I cut the line and got a penalty which was annoying. However this was all forgotten when I went down the main straight past several cars at once with almost everyone having trouble. Eventually made it into fourth place having being bested by a CLK and two other drivers who knew to out on the right tyres. Will pop the replay up when it's done. That was well fun.

Edit: Here it is, watch from the 6 minute marker:

Good and bad things have happened to me.

First, the bad thing - I entered a lobby at an unpopular time and was paired with mostly B/B drivers (I was B/S) with only one more B/S driver on the grid. Even with no rain, it was a horror of a punt-fest. I immediately knew that I must have dropped my SR rating. I was horrified to see that I had dropped to SR B!

I tried to tell myself that I could still race my usual way and that I didn't have to do the SR repair job (drop down to last, limp to the finish line behind everyone). However, I quickly realized that it was not possible to avoid being punted and ending up hitting others in lower SR lobbies, and it dropped me to SR C! In the next race, I did the SR repair job. I limped home in last place, and it raised my SR to B after just one race. I did it again, but unfortunately, it stayed at SR B. Now I understand the plight of folks who struggle to raise their SR once it has dropped.

Now for the good news - I started a race with the intention of doing the SR repair job, but during the warm-up lap, I noticed that rain was about to come and seemingly no one was putting on intermediate tires. I thought to take my chance, put on intermediates, and go for victory instead of doing the SR repair job. The race started, and unknown to me, a car ahead did not accelerate. Others managed to avoid him at the last moment. The car ahead of me hit him on the bumper corner before moving away from him. That was when I saw the non-accelerating car for the first time. The result?

Both bumpers were damaged, three wheels were damaged, and the engine was damaged. My race was surely over, and my SR was surely going to drop further. How is this good news?

However, I kept going and dropped to second-last place. I managed to recover from all the damage and still kept going. The rain arrived as I expected, and it turned out that everyone except for one was indeed on mediums. Everyone had a spin-fest, but luckily I did not receive any yellow flag penalty while overtaking everyone. The leader had intermediates but decided to gamble by pitting at the end of the first lap for mediums, while the radar still indicated that we were likely to see a wet track for one more lap.

Not only did I win, but I also got the Clean Race Bonus! Alas, my SR is still sitting at B, and I have more SR repair jobs to do!

It doesn't happen very often, at least for me, but when you make good choices like that and they pay off, it's awesome! And to get lucky enough not to have yellow flags interrupting you climb from out of the depths was a stroke of luck. I guess this is a reminder to all of us that it ain't over until it's over.

Anybody else getting wildly mixed lobbies? Is it people in the new time trials instead? Or part of the update?

Also, the automatic ghosting at LeMans is out of control. People abusing it bad. No reason for it to be that aggressive in an A/A+ lobby.

Corvette lost 22 kg (48 lbs)...time to see what it can do around Yamagiwa again. 1:33s should be achievable now.
Aaaaand back in I go.

Edit: OK the cars are back! Thanks PD! The Corvette is legitimately fast now. The Mustang, Viper and RX are also getting me low 1:35s on my first runs so the 1:34s and 1:33s are definitely there. I'm not forced to drive microwaves with wheels anymore yesssss.

Few clean races to start with last night and I got a 3rd and 4th. Then next race I passed for 2nd place into first chicane, only for guy I went past to politely tap the back of my car on the exit and spin me. That started off a string of races where I got spun out going through the chicanes, the esses or the hairpin, usually by guys I'd just passed.

Good times...:mad::mad::mad:

Did get to pull off a few overtakes coming back through the pack at least.

Oddly enough I can't find anymore pace with the Corvette compared to what I was getting before the update.

Sigh I've noticed it too but hoped it was perhaps a personal anomaly.

It's probably a response to all the complaints about dirty driving without having to bother fixing the penalty system.

It sucks, it's not a fix. Making it F1 game kiddie friendly everyone is ghosted so no one can crash is not the answer.
