Good and bad things have happened to me.
First, the bad thing - I entered a lobby at an unpopular time and was paired with mostly B/B drivers (I was B/S) with only one more B/S driver on the grid. Even with no rain, it was a horror of a punt-fest. I immediately knew that I must have dropped my SR rating. I was horrified to see that I had dropped to SR B!
I tried to tell myself that I could still race my usual way and that I didn't have to do the SR repair job (drop down to last, limp to the finish line behind everyone). However, I quickly realized that it was not possible to avoid being punted and ending up hitting others in lower SR lobbies, and it dropped me to SR C! In the next race, I did the SR repair job. I limped home in last place, and it raised my SR to B after just one race. I did it again, but unfortunately, it stayed at SR B. Now I understand the plight of folks who struggle to raise their SR once it has dropped.
Now for the good news - I started a race with the intention of doing the SR repair job, but during the warm-up lap, I noticed that rain was about to come and seemingly no one was putting on intermediate tires. I thought to take my chance, put on intermediates, and go for victory instead of doing the SR repair job. The race started, and unknown to me, a car ahead did not accelerate. Others managed to avoid him at the last moment. The car ahead of me hit him on the bumper corner before moving away from him. That was when I saw the non-accelerating car for the first time. The result?

Both bumpers were damaged, three wheels were damaged, and the engine was damaged. My race was surely over, and my SR was surely going to drop further. How is this good news?
However, I kept going and dropped to second-last place. I managed to recover from all the damage and still kept going. The rain arrived as I expected, and it turned out that everyone except for one was indeed on mediums. Everyone had a spin-fest, but luckily I did not receive any yellow flag penalty while overtaking everyone. The leader had intermediates but decided to gamble by pitting at the end of the first lap for mediums, while the radar still indicated that we were likely to see a wet track for one more lap.
Not only did I win, but I also got the Clean Race Bonus! Alas, my SR is still sitting at B, and I have more SR repair jobs to do!
