Sigh I've noticed it too but hoped it was perhaps a personal anomaly.

It's probably a response to all the complaints about dirty driving without having to bother fixing the penalty system.

It sucks, it's not a fix. Making it F1 game kiddie friendly everyone is ghosted so no one can crash is not the answer.

I think it's because of the variable weather and a very wide range in skill.

It's very weird I agree but I do sort of understand the logic.

One person could essentially ruin a lot of peoples races less than 2 mins in to a 20+ min race so quitting would be high, but quitting highly penalises SR and is really discouraged.

And I imagine that they also want to avoid a situation where the experience creates a negative feeling for 20mins in the game for a lot of people.

While ghosting isn't the best solution I does try to help with keeping the racing going and fairly close-ish

Oh that's a fair point actually, it's not rained once in the 5/6 races I've had there I'd forgotten about the weather.

Let's hope that's the motivation alone.

Good and bad things have happened to me.

First, the bad thing - I entered a lobby at an unpopular time and was paired with mostly B/B drivers (I was B/S) with only one more B/S driver on the grid. Even with no rain, it was a horror of a punt-fest. I immediately knew that I must have dropped my SR rating. I was horrified to see that I had dropped to SR B!

I tried to tell myself that I could still race my usual way and that I didn't have to do the SR repair job (drop down to last, limp to the finish line behind everyone). However, I quickly realized that it was not possible to avoid being punted and ending up hitting others in lower SR lobbies, and it dropped me to SR C! In the next race, I did the SR repair job. I limped home in last place, and it raised my SR to B after just one race. I did it again, but unfortunately, it stayed at SR B. Now I understand the plight of folks who struggle to raise their SR once it has dropped.

Now for the good news - I started a race with the intention of doing the SR repair job, but during the warm-up lap, I noticed that rain was about to come and seemingly no one was putting on intermediate tires. I thought to take my chance, put on intermediates, and go for victory instead of doing the SR repair job. The race started, and unknown to me, a car ahead did not accelerate. Others managed to avoid him at the last moment. The car ahead of me hit him on the bumper corner before moving away from him. That was when I saw the non-accelerating car for the first time. The result?

Both bumpers were damaged, three wheels were damaged, and the engine was damaged. My race was surely over, and my SR was surely going to drop further. How is this good news?

However, I kept going and dropped to second-last place. I managed to recover from all the damage and still kept going. The rain arrived as I expected, and it turned out that everyone except for one was indeed on mediums. Everyone had a spin-fest, but luckily I did not receive any yellow flag penalty while overtaking everyone. The leader had intermediates but decided to gamble by pitting at the end of the first lap for mediums, while the radar still indicated that we were likely to see a wet track for one more lap.

Not only did I win, but I also got the Clean Race Bonus! Alas, my SR is still sitting at B, and I have more SR repair jobs to do!
Well done - but that outfit is terrifying - never make me see it again!

I think it is possibly a response to the carnage in the rain, to minimize the pileups in the corners.
But the gosting creates its own carnage. I got multiple penalties for crashing into people that unghosted directly in front of me.
PS: SR system is really hard to handle at this race. Could not bring it over me to drive SR-recovery-races behind the field in my short time. So i drive reasonably clean races to nibble my SR up to run into a random chaos race where a bunch of CLKs urder me multiple time and drop into nirvana again. My journey this week:
S > A > B > A > B > C > B > C > D!!! > C > B > C > B > A tbc.

And another night backing up why I don't race dailies like I used to. Troll from earlier in the week running havoc in daily C. Swerve blocking, ramming people into walls, off track and just generally being a completely unlikeable nuisance. With their low DR armor thanks to an SR reset and PD refusing to penalize scum they just ruin a night of racing. And with TCS, CSA and ASM on I can catch them but near impossible to stay ahead as they never even wobble while wiping out others.

Shame PD has ignored online for whatever reason and let these trolls start to take over. I got no idea when dailies will be worth it again. There's no incentive to bother with racecraft anymore as scum driving gets no penalties

Your suit . . . . I thought I’d had a stroke when I saw that photo! It took me a moment to figure out what I was seeing! And then laughed so hard I almost DID have a stroke. Thanks for that great (yet startling) start to my day!
And I imagine that they also want to avoid a situation where the experience creates a negative feeling for 20mins in the game for a lot of people.
If this were the case, then they’d schedule better races! Zing!

. . . 🎤 is this thing on?

Ok, in other news: I’m looking at getting the new DualSense Edge controller for a different game. I don’t use a controller in GT7 anymore, so I don’t have a horse in this race, but is anyone using this new controller? Any good reviews?

Weird daily haul alert (next 2 weeks):

Next week's B looks alright. Again, Fuji... seems like any time the Formula cars come up it's either Fuji or Suzuka.

And the following week's A... SSRX? Really? Ummmm, okay.

So we were just at Spa in Gr2 and Gr4; we were just at Brands in Gr4 (albeit the better, full course); and we were just at Nurb End with the Gr4

At least there are TTs to keep me occupied.

I have one. The separate profiles for different games are very helpful. I have a GT7 one with the shift buttons on the back paddles, one for Cyberpunk with jump and run on those, likely a new config tonight for Jedi: Survivor. The adjustable sticks are good as well.

As for that upcoming race at SSRX - 10 km straights and one of the car options is a Chiron. Is there any sane reason to choose anything else?

Weird indeed.

I like Gr4 at BH Indy, but surely that should be race B? 12 cars is less interesting racing than 16.

We have just had Spa and Nurburging Sprint recently....and Sprint doesn't really suit Gr3 imho. Odd choices.

Lastly, Mt Panorama is better with Gr3 than Gr4. Other than that, looks to be a good race.

These are pretty fascinating.

What a race they've put at SSRX. Might end up being the highlight of the week.

Or be a snoozefest, it's 50/50.
Yes with no tuning and I assume no custom liveries it will probably be a boring one make race within a few hours but I'll still use the Viper.

For anyone that wants a one make race at Route X, the current GT Sport race A is 2000s Ford GTs.

Weird daily haul alert (next 2 weeks):

Mount Panorama should be a good test of the new Gr4 physics. Haven't seen that track on Gr4 yet.

Spa again. Tire swap required so at least it's not a no stopper. Guessing the had to de-tune the Supra before going back to Spa in Gr.3. The new Mustang should fare well there along with the Viper. Supra and GTR 18 will still be strong if not dominant.

Tyre swap not required, only RH is mandatory.

I finally dived into this week's Race B so a little behind the curve in terms of practice. My Renault's 1.35.0xx won't be bothering anyone near the front of the grid but I like to think I have the edge in race trim.

One problem. The race-craft has been questionable to say the least. I was ok when my DR was higher yesterday and I kept starting in the back row with only the other lowly souls to fight with, but when my quali suddenly became good enough for a mid-pack start things start to get ugly.

I find myself in battles, the pieces of which I would normally be the one picking up from behind. Some really good parallel racing on the longer curves but then suddenly BOOM no space left on the exit and I'm left eating sand. Not to mention besting the opponents through the chicane (one of my strong points), only to have them perform revenge-dives into the following hairpin left.

Terrible, and a real shame that these reoccurring themes are spoiling a very fun race.

(Still slipping back into DR B, but that's on me)

Am I allowed to name a shame one South African user who I have seen in about 4 race A's this week, and clearly their sole intention is punting people off track? Every race ruined.

Apart from that most races have been great fun.

I’m with you. I’ve had a hard time getting interested in any races the last couple weeks, and each week I keep telling myself that, “Next week will be better.” Now the next two weeks are “leaked” and I can honestly say by the end of the second week of May it will have been a month since I actually did any racing.

I swear PD is just trolling me at this point. All I want is some interesting variety and fair racing. They aren’t interested in promoting either and they’re losing me, a complete devotee for the past year, as if by design. I’ve missed more days of racing in the last two weeks than I did ALL OF THE PAST YEAR! This does not look very promising . . .

At least the SF cars get full 16-car grids, unlike literally all the other open-wheel cars that get relegated to Race A...

Agreed. I haven't done much of any Daily races in a while. The GTWS races kept me busy/interested in the game. I loved the Gr3 races at Daytona RC and Nord. But, those are long gone. I haven't touched the game since Saturday's Nord races.

I am planning on firing it up today so I can get the new stuff and start the TTs, but not for Dailies.

Spa is one of the best tracks in the world, and is great in GT. I don't know what everyone is complaining about.
Because this is the third time in five weeks it's come up.

7x tire wear should mean a tire swap no? Or will the hards last?
IMO, they'll last well enough to not warrant the time lost for a stop.

Yeah, I'm using the edge, but so far, I've only played GT7 with it (don't play too many others games, atm). I still don't have a wheel setup, maybe someday. I got the edge solely for those back buttons to use manual transmission - and it is fantastic for that. I also like the mushroom caps on the sticks for comfort. Otherwise. I haven't really dug too deep into its settings. I think it is overpriced as a piece of hardware, but those back buttons in GT7 were worth it for me.

Because this is the third time in five weeks it's come up.
I wonder whether PD have a reasoning for this - such as the number of entries into previous races etc. ? It would be nice to know if they have reasons for repeating certain tracks.

At least there's 2 races per week I'm interested in. It definitely grates when it's just 1 and thankfully hasn't often been 0.

For PD standards the next couple of weeks are pretty adventurous, at least in one of the races, and Spa and Bathurst are old favourites that typically go down well.

I'm surprised there's people saying they may not race at all.

Yeah tbh I don't do a whole lot of them now. Some people ram into me like I'm invisible to the human eye, it pisses me off at times. I'll have to take a break for an hour to cool off from the intense action in the race.

I cannot believe they're adding Spa again, that's one of my least favorite tracks b/c of some of the turns are difficult to be fast/quick in. The last chicane always gets my time before the finish line. Am looking forward to the SSRX one in August, :)

I personally don't like it. I love its history but in terms of modern day racing there are many more tracks that will become as iconic as spa.

I personally also feel PD leans on a few of these tracks quite heavily at the expense of other tracks and to be honest the racing I watch on TV isn't centred around a few tracks it's about variety and individuality they have, like Sebring is not like Macau but GT3 cars do them both etc and the racing is different.

It is horses for courses and I don't dispute Spa as being an iconic track, I just don't feel in the modern day it's the best the game has to offer or in real life.
