RCZ is a bit of a sleeper choice for Race B for anyone looking for something different before the races refresh.

Little underpowered compared to the 3 main choices (GT-R, Supra, RSR) but handles the kerbs really well so you can chuck it around and jump on the throttle out of the longer turns much earlier without wheelspin.

Well this week has been mostly as tasty as fresh dog poo.. With the dog being sick beforehand 🤣

Monday raced my first Race B and won but every other one since has been nothing short of an assault on my sanity.

Gave this event one more chance tonight and in an unbelievable turn of events, it was fun and clean and close! Started P3 and went down to P4 to avoid a collision but then was leading the group by lap 3.

P2 took advantage of a slight miscalculation so let him past in the chicane to finish P2 with a clean race bonus and close finish. This is what, at least for me, sport mode should be about. Not doing anything to win or keep a position, but to keep it clean and enjoy the challenge.

Even the winner appreciated me being fair as both of us had been victims of dirty driving in previous races before this one.

Overall I had a nice week in race B. I Had a bunch of top fives but could never seal a win. I was on the transition bubble of DR B to A so I either started top 5 among other Bs or bottom five against A's. I finally made it back to A (for now).

I also got to race against Scott Chegg. I even blew the chicane so he was nice enough to feature it on his YouTube channel.

From the start of the week until now I only gained around 2 secs in pace but I was lucky enough to keep my nose clean and gain places from others misfortune.

Well, I only did 14 races this week, and ended up with a slightly higher DR than when I started. But since I did exactly 0 races last week, this is an improvement. Here's where I've been spending most of my time:

I've still got a lot of work to do before I start beta testing - both Mac and Windows - and possibly Linux if I get enough Linux users interested. It's been a lot of fun working on this. I'll make an announcement when I get closer to releasing the first beta version.

It'll be free, by the way. Possibly open-source as well - we'll see about that later.

After some success yesterday I’ve had a terrible time today culminating in my SR dropping from S to A. Two Race B events where I get knocked out on lap 1 (including one where I got rammed from behind so hard I got a penalty lol) and then two Race C events in a row where my WiFi dropped on the grid. I’m taking this as a sign to quit and wait for the new races tomorrow and start again. Good luck to anyone still racing the evening 👍

Well, Race B was still a blast, even if I'm not a fan of the current driving physics. It was fun being the only Corvette in the lobby and still managing to grab wins, and it was especially satisfying being able to pressure Supras that outqualified me into making mistakes. The underrated MR cars were the ones that ended up giving me the most trouble later in the week. Watching them make up half a second at the chicane because they could bounce over the curbs without losing the back end was a bit frustrating, but it was surprisingly easy to defend when one of them did get close enough to go for a move. It was like the outside line had no grip, even in the faster corners, so even on a slow defensive line on the inside I could easily clear them before the exit.

Last of last week's stuff. Was quite productive on Race B in the end scoring two more wins with the 911:

Sadly didn't get as much of a high at Le Mans, managing to lose first place but it was a really good battle so can't complain:

They really needed variable weather at Spa Race C. It's a dry no-stop snoozefest.

Highlight of Le Mans, heavy rain caused absolute carnage, however because the rain was visibly clearing before anyone got to the pits so I was the only one who put inters on. I ended up winning the race by a few seconds, but if I gambled a lap earlier I would've won by a country mile. Great fun!

No DR/SR updates on Brands Hatch, does that mean it will feel like demolition derby? (I'm now hooked on online racing, after buying a 1 month PS + subscription to be part of the Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup, after 7 races yesterday, my rating is now DR: D (soon C) SR: S 😇).

Had a go this morning. Pretty clean. Maybe no DR gains means people aren’t so desperate for places they resort to bombing.

Ferraris and Alfas at the top so far. My best lap was in the Slophy. Probably spend most of the week here trying out different cars.

I don't see SR updates making any difference on this
Don't know, but @Fezzik have a valid point:

Could be, the new ghosting in corners helps against dive bombing, but in my 7 races yesterday I saw a lot of drivers trying to push other drivers out of the track by hitting them in the side of the car... not good sportsmanship that, but that was race B and C, I didn't try race A.

If you want drop your SR rating extremely quickly, I can highly recommend Race B this week.

Absolute carnage.
That's the Super Formula race, I feared it would be, so I think I skip that race, race C looks promising though.

Here's my fastest lap so far for the new Race A in the Viper, it isn't remotely competitive but it's fun to drive and I guess that will make for interesting win in a Mopar challenges later.

This is my fastest lap in all cars with the '93 Alfa Romeo.

I tried the Genesis G70 and Subaru WRX for a while as well and was slower by a tenth and a half.

The ghosting could be the source of the trouble in corners. If everyone is expecting cars to ghost anyway, they’re probably trying to drive through other cars that they assume will ghost. If the car doesn’t, then the collisions will feel like dive bombs and punts. This is why I wish PD would create a sane penalty system and stop trying to mask their inadequacy with ridiculous half-solutions like ghosting cars to prevent dirty driving. It’s completely backwards logic.

But how, it's hard for the game to figure out if someone dive bombed you or if you brake tested another car, you almost need a race director for giving out penalties correctly.

Daily races A like this one are always a great time to use different cars without ripercussions :D In the video you'll see 458 and G70, but also I tried Bugatti, Megane Trophy and F-type, all with good results

Maybe I can go one step beyond and do a session with the worst cars :P It could be fun

It's really hard if you only look at the impact and what happens after. But if the car is on a speed and trajectory where it wouldn't make the corner it's a clear bomb. And if someone brakes well outside a brake zone it's a brake check. But if someone brake early but at the edge of a brake zone it's on the driver behind.

I think PD would need a PS4/PS5 Professional Double Pro, to calculate all that data. :)

Been saying this myself for a while now. The ghosting system in my opinion is wrong and should be removed from the game.
It’s too unpredictable and people try to advantage of the system and then end up causing more crashes then it solves. Remove the ghosting and that way everyone knows the rules and has to drive round the issue not into the issue.

Penalty zones - cars stay on the racing line unghosted and then re ghost at the wrong time just as another car is about to drive through them and then you get crashes. I’ve even seen a streamer move off the racing line to get slip stream from a ghosted car in the penalty zone and then try and drive through them for the game to unghost them just as they hit the rear bumper. The streamer then complains of the ghosting system. Thing is if you didn’t have ghosting that streamer wouldnt try and drive through a car.

Slow moving cars - same as above really. You just never know when that car will unghost yet people still try to drive through them rather then around them.

Corners - this is just stupid. In the lower lobbies I can understand why they have ghosting as people are still learning etc… but the most annoying thing for me is the whole ghosting in a corner (like Le Mans last week) and then you get cars behind driving through you to make an overtake. Monza T1 is a prime example where I’ve seen people gain 4/5/6 positions. Also on corner exits if a crash happens ahead people just floor the throttle hoping the car ghosts or stays ghosted.
