Trail Mountain in reverse is horrid. Mid pack drivers are terrible and used each other to send it around corners. Did 3 races this morning. Luckily the mid pack on the first race was taking each other out and had a great battle from 3-8 place. The last two races were just bad. Would get slapped from the back at T1 every time then get swallowed by the mid pack in which everyone was sending it on the inside or missing their braking point and overspeeding into corners. The problem is there is to many high speed straights into sharp corners which people miss their braking point and too many sweeping mid speed corners with awkward wide line efficiencies that allow the trailing car to overspeed on entrance and wash wide to send you into the wall since the fastest way around the track is to take a wider line. This never happens on the normal layout because when cars miss their braking point, the turn bend radii usually benefits the car in front as the efficient lines are usually in to out, so if drivers behind try to send it, they will wash wide before they can get to the inside of you.
In this layout other than the mountain uphill to the tunnel straight there are no alternative lines. Everything is awkward, the apexes are all late, the acceleration is on bumps and undulations. The inside early mountain section doesn't flow nicely like in the normal config and the Esses to the straight make or brake your lap rather than set a good one up.

It's not even it being "technical" it's just not what you design a track to do with cars.

Factor in zero run offs it's just a slog even at 4 laps of a race. Front or back of the grid.

I did maybe 15+ races at Trail mountain yesterday...some shocking driving. I will admit to losing my rag twice with idiots🤬 It got so bad that I ended up at a D/E rating at 1 stage due to me having enough and quitting. Anyway, I got my qualification time down to a 1:52 (not great but im using the AMG 20) and that certainly helped. Ended up with 6 victories and a few 2nd places. Ended up at 1:30 am this morning at very high C/B , will give it another go now 🙈🤣

Pretty difficult to put a lap together at Trial Mountain but managed a 49.7, though even that lap felt like it had a couple of tenths in it.
"Difficult" says the guy that is 22nd fastest in the world lol.
Not sure who so many people are howling about doing Trial Mountain in reverse. It's like getting a new track - you have to spend some time learning it, just like anything else. As for driving, it works quite well in reverse. Nothing super awkward or anything like that. I quite like it.

You might want to try the R.S.01 (or whatever ifs name is). I really like it on this track.
I know I'm in the minority but I prefer this direction over the normal way. It's been very kind to me the last two days - apart from my last two races - but that was more about the company than the track. I've been using the R.S.01 all the way.
See my post 2 above yours 🙂 Great for qualy, very slow in the race..
I would not say it is "bad" for the race, it has given me a lot of top 6 and some podium finishes. I will say though is that the car has different strengths and weaknesses that can make racing in a pack a challenge. In the curves the car is just faster. It loses out on the straights though. You have to absolutely nail the entry to the up hill and the start/finish straight otherwise the 911s and GR-Rs will eat it for lunch. Meanwhile I can out brake them and then pull ahead/catch up in the curves afterwards. That's actually the biggest issue. If they get ahead of you on the hill, they then slow you up in the curves aftwards. When I'm on the inside at the top of the hill and I can usually stay ahead. If they catch me mid hill, it's over..

That has to be lobby dependent. Until my last two races I've had good races with many clean race bonuses. I must admit it helped that I was often in the cleanish air of the top 4. However, in my GB account which transitioned from C to B today, as soon as I entered B the driving got a lot worst. I could hang out and be in 7th or higher but then get forced into a wall (entering T1) or punted in a corner. Each case it put me last and out of the running. Even upon rejoin the track and catching up slower drivers they would happily bang into your for position and advantage. I gave up after that and decided the evening Euro crowd was a lot rowdier than during the day.

Perhaps for your style of driving. Meanwhile us mediocre folk like it. I do need to drive with TCS at 1, otherwise I tend to lose it on the bumps, but otherwise it's great. I prefer the way it flows.

Well had my evening ruined with a run in with an infamous driver... Turned into me for no reason before T1 in B. No prior interaction with him ever, just the British flag which he seemingly takes issue with.

Had a fairly good evening, no wins but mostly podiums with the exception of this one. A bizarre change of line at the end led to penalty for moi.

I think something just clicked... Each of these times were my best lap:

Well that was embarrassing! Got to race with @GrumpyOldMan. I was thinking "it would be bad if I took Grumpy out passing him..." But I did passed him on the up hill but then mentally I went to pieces! I was like "Oh, my god, I just passed Grumpy!". Then I fluffed the next corner, was a bit ragged recovering from that and ultimately took myself out. :banghead: :banghead:

First lap...

Sorry! Hope I did not throw your race off too much.

After that I redeemed my self with two more races with 3rd place podiums. So I guess I can race when I don't let mental nerves get to me. :D

I'm stuck around the 52.2 mark. What is the secret sauce?

Just had an amazing duel with a Dutch driver called "Reinder" for almost two entire laps of trial mountain. We were in a B/S lobby, EMEA.

He actually started 15th, and I got knocked back there as well from 9th on the grid during the 1st half of lap 1. We then weaved our way together through the field until we got to 4th and 5th, where our battle began.

There was multiple overtakes, crossovers, side by side drags down the back straight, and space was afforded by both of us at every turn. Was awesome. Unfortunately I spun myself out in the last sector of the final lap pushing too hard. Still buzzing though, was epic racing.

I saved the replay, might put it up.

You made a great pass. I was slow around the big right-hander leading to the uphill - I'm still trying to figure out how to handle that corner right. Quite a few times I've gone into a slide there, so I'm a little gun-shy. But when we got to the bottom of the hill, your pass was perfect.

I wondered what happened after that. Been there plenty of times myself.
Sorry! Hope I did not throw your race off too much.
Nope, not at all. I finished P6, but it should have been P4. I got a little sloppy on the last couple of laps, and got passed legitimately.

I have no idea. I do know that I'm more comfortable with the last three turns now. I discovered that if I lift my foot slightly when making the left-hander that causes the car to almost go airborne, I can make the final right-hand turn a lot more easily. Sometimes I'll even lift on the turn before that, because the most important thing is to make that final turn a good one because of the long straight there.

Other than that, who knows? There's still a bunch of time out there to be had, or at least it feels that way.

I agree, the R.S.01 is a lot more stable in those first two corners if you reduce throttle momentarily to about 90% as you crest. That sets you up for the faster exit on the third corner. If you get it right you can exit at 138 miles an hour. Get it wrong and you’re down in the 110 to 120s.

Also, get your right wheels on the curb on the first corner and your left wheels on the curb on the second corner, and then pretty much carrying over the entire third corner with your left wheels on the curb is the fastest line completely. What you don’t do is get your white wheels on the grass on the first corner at all. Don’t ask me how I know :P

Race B isn't too bad at all. I did some races on all three accounts; accounts #1 & #3 were in the 18 GTR and the #2 account was in a bunch of different stuff from the back.

Started in the EMEA where I started mid-pack (50.9 quali) and was just bumped and shoved all over the place. Not particularly enjoyable as the other drivers weren't being respectful.

Then over to the #1 account where I was starting like P4 in both races (50.4 quali). First race finished P3 as the guy in front of me messed up the final back-and-forth bit going onto the front straight so it was a pretty straight forward pass. Second race finished P4. Both races were, for the most part, just parade laps.

#2 account from the back. Used the 97 McLaren, Ferrari, Alfa, Audi with a mixed bag of results.

Not my favorite combo but good enough to get some racing in and get it out of my system.

I tried the Veyron in race C today, found it quite good, actually has some oversteer in places.
Interesting, I tried the M4 just for kicks and found it to be comically slow....

Then I looked at the leaderboard and saw that someone had put it P1 overall. I'll have to watch his lap.....there must be some trick to it (I don't think I've ever used the M4....maybe it needs to be short shifted...)

edit Ok, so I calculated the optimal shift points of the M4, and it's around 6500 rpm (before the red lights start illuminating on the display). Once you get used to this, the car is surprisingly good. Best I could manage was 1.40.4 (I've done 1.40.2 in the 650s).

Tonight I continued my race B....almost an hour and a half, but I practiced around 30min with the track on the 458Italia GR.3, a car that I really love...and I love so much that I use only with the standard Ferrari red paint.
So, quali time 1:55 (If I remember well) in the fourth day with the wheel I'm pretty happy with it, sunday I was going mad just turning around a corner at 50km/hr.
The bad is that, starting 5-7-9 on the grid the races are way tooooo ugly until the group gets scattered in line, the first couple of slow turns are jusr crazy for online races and I wasted two races being thrashed after 200m from the start, I've got an S rating.
Last week I was a solid C-S now I'm a very low D-S

Daily Race C - never raced Kyoto before but absolutely loving it. What a smashing, humding around it is!

Raced 4 times yesterday and other than two of them being lumped in with an absolute tool who was just spearing people at the downhill chicane and visibly tapping peoples rear end to spin them around. I had a blast!

I don’t get the safety rating system; the donkey that was out seemingly only to have a demolition derby, had a safety rating of S. How does that remain after at least two races hitting people off. I mean, he was actively spinning people down the straights. I myself got a smashing run coming down into the last mad fast few turns, got along side, holding my line, and just as I was looking in my rear view to see where he was, I saw in my side view mirror he just swung into me, throwing me into a wild spin at over 190kph.

Having gathered myself and carry on I could see him up the road swinging into people on the straight. Assuming he lost some form of safety rating…

Either way a 4th (which seems my natural habitat), a 7th (race I got spun), 4th and a 1st!! oh yeah baby! last race of the night had a belter sat in 2nd on the tail of first right up to the last hairpin where I managed to drag the poor so n so to the line. I would have been gutted if that was me!! Cracking racing though.

Loadsa fun.

Racing VR never ceases to amaze me either. Get far more perspective and I find racing easier.

@GrumpyOldMan I'm coming for you old man!

Finally got sub 1:52. Only took a couple of beers and the determination to not let my alt account beat me after that went to 1:52.1

After some beers I wasn't feeling cognizant enough try race, though I'm sure there are many that race under the influence judging by some of the driving I see LOL. But I was good enough for a TT...

Now I just have to put the QT to race results!

Sweet, after staying around the top of DR C, I finally made it to B for the first time tonight. Only did one race C tonight, my low 1:43 got me pole position, and I had a clean race but couldn't match the pace of the guy that got first, so finished 2nd with a 7s gap. That was enough to finally get to B for the first time.

Really liking this race. My regular race pace is only landing me in the 1:45s though. I've been consistent with that pace at least.

Of all the reverse tracks, Kyoto Yamagiwa is actually pretty nice. I think it's more enjoyable than going forward.
I definitely don't feel the same about Trial Mountain. :yuck:
I like Yamagiwa reverse, probably more than the normal version.

I got my first win (from pole) there, after a self-imposed 17-month break from multiplayer. I was just sick of the dirty driving and lack of penalties for offenders. I still will spend more time on single-player, though.

I only "discovered" the Gr3 version of the Italia recently, and I love it too..currently my favourite Gr3 car.

Its a great all-rounder, with a slight bias for handling over top end speed, which suits me perfectly

I'm actually really enjoying race C.... I've had some great clean racing and found the track to be really fun and challenging to get right! A few of the corners have a couple of lines that work equally well too, so it makes for some great battles. I tried a few different cars, and liked the McLaren, Jaguar and NSX the most, though the Lexus and Supra should be good too.
Hoping to put a full qualifying lap together and get into the 39s today....
I have had a few good races there, too, driving the Ferrari. I even saw a Megane Trophy once!

Yep, it's a great car in my opinion, and a car that I don't spot in Sport Mode as frequently as I think it deserves, I always see tons of Porsche and also bunch of "exotic" cars (for me a Nismo is exotic :D), but the 458 is a great all-rounder, in 20min you can adapt the driving style to pretty much every track in every condition

I feel the heat.

I made the mistake of racing tired last night. Started P2 (yay!). Rear-ended P1 on T2, and ruined everyone's race. Dammit.

After a couple days off I'm back to working so my racing performance will probably decline from here as is the norm. :irked:

Got to say I enjoyed racing during the day. Having the lazy time to QT and do races here and there throughout the day rather than try to cram them in, in the evening, is wonderful and I think my driving improved. The day time crowd is much friendlier as well. While there were the odd race that was a bit bumpy overall the last two days have been some of the cleanest driving I've seen in a while..
