First race of the week threw in a nice surprise at Spa! Started P13 (lol) but with a bunch of well-known A+ players, including Gallo at the very back with no time 😅 That dude is FAST - his smooth entry/ exit in corners and anticipation of what others around him will do is incredible to watch!

Most of the race was full of close racing, at one point I was P9 and we almost were 4 cars next to each other in the double-left hander heading downhill and no incident at all! 😁

Finished P11 (thanks to a miracle as P12 accidentally smashed into me final corner, final lap) battling another well-known driver 😅 Was proper fun!

How can I get a quick, low lap in GV, the Ferrari slides a lot so it's a chore to control while turning, taking caution during corners/turns. I'm fixing to watch Pop's replay and see what key points/lines I'm missing here. I'm in the 2'07.000-2'08.000 range.

I wish race B had a bit of variable weather, even if it was the same settings as Gr4 a couple of weeks ago with 99% of the races being dry. I'm struggling with the hard tyres, it feels like it's chattering every time I turn into the corners as though they have no temperature.

I did have a fun race late last night with 2 spins, the first I tried to avoid a bad block and took myself out, then at the last corner I turned in too early and spun off the nose of an Audi (nice to see somebody using once of those for once) and had to reverse to the finish line.

This race would work better on the 24H layout imo, so the cars were less spread out (the ones at the back would still have to take the hairpin but that's a easier corner than the second part of the chicane).

Yeah but you still did GMP things to make them non events. First one it dumps you with a perfect line for the chicane and you end up closer to the car in front than when you did before you span. And the second one you got it across the line albeit backwards without loosing places.
Nobody else would have that luck!

I don't know the timings this week as I'm away but the F40 is a short shift car with a very small power to torque band the latter usually being the biggest issue other than brakes.

What usually works in something like these 80's cars is to brake earlier and let them coast, ride most of the power on a exit and short shift or lift so they stay settled.

They don't usually respond to well to chucking them about.

Other than that I'm afraid the quick guys on here can help more

No, had a identical copy of my car in Assetto Corsa and felt pretty identical, lap times were within a few seconds on the Nordschleife and closer on smaller circuits.
Would be interesting for you to try in GT7 the mazda Roadster (ND) NR-A 2022 around spa with appropriate tyres to see how you think it feels.

Driven the ND in real life, could try the standard version in GT and see how it compares. The assetto one was pretty accurate, simulated how playful the handling was quite well.

I've got a question for you guys. I don't want this to devolve into a "you could go faster if you just..." type of discussion. I'm just curious if I'm alone in this.

These days, I almost always drive with these assists:

TCS: 2
ASM: On
CA: Strong

I'm almost always DR B above 75%, and I'm regularly in the 85-95% range, with the occasional foray into DR A for a few races before I drop back down to B (which is fine with me).

So am I the only one at this level who uses these assists? Again, I'm just curious.
For me, I only use ABS weak (is there a difference between weak or strong? I just started with it on weak and left it there), everything else off. Low A+ here

Wow you raced with Gallo, he's really fast and a good guy!
But you're incredibly fast, everytime I see your times I'm looking at an alien :D

My day: well I continued hammering Spa cause I was feeling a turnaround of my poor last period performance and...this week it's getting good, did 5 races:
Q6 F4
Q5 F3
Q7 F5
Q7 F12
Q6 F4

I'm pretty good, everything was going great until later in the evening a bunch of bad users appeared, as everyday, they were the same 2-3 and we were obviously finding each other in every lobby because of our ranking, I escaped once but then they destroyed my last third and fourth races...I happened to learn that they were enjoying themselves destroying the races at the first eau source and eau rouge, wow what a fun....I'll repeat that until I'll be 150years old but PD needs to do something to prevent this to afflict a 1-2 hours of play of correct users, I mean, ok one race could happen but this bad apples can't go on for 3-4-5 races in a row, they need to be restricted for some time to play in sport mode...meh

Something wrong with this game. I have done 20 races in Race B today starting at D/C. Qualified with 2.21.8 which had me on pole and I won. Up to C/C. I started on pole for 8 of those races, won 3 more had 2 2nds and a 3rd plus a couple of top 5 finishes yet as I finish now my DR is at the very bottom of C still????? How can that be right at all. At 1 stage it was almost heading for B and the next 2 races (I was pole but finished 2nd both times) it was at the bottom of C. I wouldn't mind only I was having a great run as I love GR3 at Spa

It's displayed as the bottom of C most likely because your SR is still also C and it's preventing your DR from rising to B. Improve your SR to at least B and you'll see it change.

I'm waiting for the crash and burn. I don't remember a run like this before, especially in the upper half of DR B. I'm getting kind of scared as I feel I don't belong in upper B.

I've done 5 races so far and gained 15%. I'll tell you though I'm a sack of nerves and I can only handle a maximum of three races a day before I have to walk away. I swear I was going to have a coronary from my heart pounding...

I won't do a lap by lap as I am sure you are bored of my summaries now, but the first race today, the one where I came in 8th, was one where I threw it away. That could have been a podium. Starting Q4, I was up to 3rd lap 1, then 2nd lap 2. A 0.5s penalty lap 3 for track limits caused me to lost 2 spots. I got back to 3rd lap 4 but went off and lost that again and one more down to 5th. Then the cherry on the cake was that I overshot the chicane on last lap and lost 3 more spots right at the end!. Argh! Looking at the replay I realized I just did not brake hard enough. I only applied around 50% braking and that is why I overshot. I recently changed my CSL Elite V2 pedals to require more force to register 100% braking so that I am not locking up so much on ABS weak and it has been going well but in this race, I just forgot to stomp on the pedal for full power.

My next race had a messy first lap. I dropped down to 8th at one spot, partially caused by me hitting someone else. It had been a bit chaotic up to that point so I wasn't as smooth and I caused some carnage at Speakers corner. Over the race I recovered to finish 5th. The last race was much more composed. I still lost a spot which I was unable to regain but I'm still pleased with 4th.

In my racing my gains are still usually through attrition or penalties. I'm still not able to make the moves to pass cleanly so I tend to slot in behind and wait it out hoping for someone to break under pressure (some did) or gain from an incident. Conversely, I would say that 3 out of 4 spots I lost were due to cars side swiping me in corners. That gets a bit tiresome and if we had real life race stewards like in the GTWS, then I'm sure a number of those would have got penalties..

Today's performance was helped by me improving my QT to 2:20.743 but my currently optimal is a 2:20.4. I need to get that consistency and as times improve through the week I will need to drop my QT more to stay competitive.

If you are not racing clean and are bouncing off other cars to pass, i.e. driving dirty, or just punting them in the rear as you brake (or not as the case may be) then your SR rating will hold you back as Famine states. Focus on driving clean and getting the SR S rating.

My American cousin, Barney Da Dawg made it from E/B to C/S in 8 races - some horrendously dirty driving from a few racers - sideswipes and weaving all over the place, but also some great racing in the last couple of races at Spa. Nobody doing any fuel saving on Race C so I just took my time and won by over a minute there - assisted by half the grid refuelling but still using mediums.

Is there a ghosting feature in lower lobbies? Had a few cars go straight through me and carry on at Spa - there sometimes seemed to be 3 cars on the same bit of track.

I've come across this when you come to lap cars I think? They get ghosted which kinda takes away from the strategy but also good because the trolls at the back can't ruin your race as they have tried a few times.

Unlikely to get a win this week so will celebrate this run as it felt great.

Started in 11th deservedly, just is my pace here, but shows what consistent laps and learned racecraft can get out of it.

And for this wonderful insult in the post race lobby, thankfully not directed at me I don't know how I would have coped

Just wonderful

Yeah, I'm near Disneyland. And yep, it was just wet for a while. Had to laugh, though - Home Depot had aisles cleaned out from people buying boards to, um, I'm not really sure what they did with them.

I keep trying other cars, and I can tell that some of them are certainly faster than the R.S.01, but nothing holds the track for me like it. And I'm with you - it's just my poor driving skills that don't allow me to drive the other cars well.

That, and I've always had a problem understanding some of the nuances of Spa. There are places I lose time to other people, and I just have no idea how to do it better. I mean, I can tell I'm not driving those spots optimally, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do them better. I'm sure I'm not alone in having problems in these areas, but...

T1, of course. People always pull away from me there. I seem to make the turn well, but I guess I'm not hitting the gas soon enough. Either that, or they're not really pulling away that much - it just seems like it because we're right next to each other when we're going slow, and once we hit the gas, the gap naturally widens. I'm not sure, maybe some of both.

I'm getting better at 5-8.

T9 always seems like it's either hit or miss. It seems like there's barely fractions of a second and speed between hitting it right and not.

T14-15 are critical, and I'm getting better at them.

And of course 18/19 are just a mystery to me. I mean, I'm not horrible at them, but there's been times someone has been way behind me, and by the time we're back to approaching T1, they've cut the gap in half.

Oh well, if it was easy, it would be boring I suppose
Definately not alone with Spa, it's a tough track to master, I also struggle with Redbull Ring.

This was all race at every tight corner though
Yeah I've had ones at the back trying to take people out but not knowing that they're a ghost - bit like The Sixth Sense

You have to check this out. I edited it thoroughly so you don't have to wade through irrelevant stuff, added commentary, and multiple POVs. Well worth the less than 2 minutes you'll spend watching it.

Yes, the lower lobbies ghost more often. It's to help prevent even more carnage.

I switched to the RX Vision at Spa, and immediately cut more than a half second off my Q time.

It's definitely faster than the R.S.01.

Full disclosure: I had to run it with TCS set to 3. Those of you who regularly run without TCS will undoubtedly not set it that high, but don't be surprised if you need more TCS than you're used to.

Except for the aliens - you know who you are, and quit laughing at me!!! Just pat me on the head and say:

I want to give this a try as I see you are now ahead of me in the QT leaderboard but I can't as it sounds like I'm driving a Dyson.
