Yeah I saw someone else said elsewhere it doesn’t effect daily race. What I find odd though is… if it doesn’t effect daily races why is wearing and deteriorating?
I wonder how many people doing daily races are going blow an engine for not checking and changing the oil as they are unaware it now affects the car? Might test it out one week and see how long I can run a car on worn oil.
There aren't a lot of people doing that sort of mileage in the same car for it to blow engines.

It wears because it's wear.....I mean bop literally restricts power and adds/deletes weight at a fixed amount.

For all of PDs flaws they seem to know what they want from the game mechanic they designed and built.

The whole point of bop is to remove all the variables they didn't program or test for.

Washing a car no longer adds to its value for example.

It doesnt effect the car in dailys. You can see the power go right back up from wornout low when BOP is set when entering the race. But doing the dailys wears out the engine etc.
The update made a change to online lobbies usage.

Can we talk about Daily Race Rules, specifically tyre compound requirements. I’ve said it before, but IMHO, people who flaunt the tyre requirements should get a straight DQ and suffer adverse penalties to both DR and SR.

This was the result of my race from an hour or so ago.

IMG_0899.jpeg

I finished 3rd in the end but had spent the first part of the race chasing the driver who finished 7th in the end whilst tangling all race with the 9th placed finisher.

During this period I incurred both general time loss and also got a couple of track limit penalties. I’m not even vaguely suggesting I would have won, but the penalties cost me at least 2nd.

It is my opinion that being in close proximity to the two adversely affected my race.

Call me vindictive, but a 1 minute penalty is not good enough. Drivers who abuse tyre requirements should occupy positions at the rear of the field at race end, even behind the DNF racers. In addition, they should receive an automatic reduction in their SR of 1 level. Not some paltry accumulative penalty, but a full level.

The race conditions are presented clearly on screen. There is no excuse for flaunting them. It is not a valid tactic to flaunt these rules in the knowledge that even after the penalties you may still finish in front of those who did follow the rules.

What is the point of PD banging on about Sportsmanship and giving us race conditions to adhere to if folk don’t accrue some significant penalties for breaking the rules?

I told you /rant mode was only parked.

As you get faster, people “flaunting” the tire requirements will only help you. You’ll be able to recognize quickly who’s on what tire compound, who’s forgetting to switch, and you’ll just let them through as they come through the pack. Not to mention, a 1minute penalty is detrimental to anyone in a mid-split B lobby and faster.

Furthermore, judging by the times, it looks like the leader no-stopped on mediums while everyone else did a 1-stop race. That’s an issue right there too

A 1min penalty in my lobbies would put you last by a long stretch.

A one minute penalty is massive, I mean I think the .5 should be halved for track limits because of where the markers are for serving the penalty.

I might or am in the minority but I'd rather racing happens.

1. I’m not getting any faster. I recognise my own limitations
2. “flaunting”….. apologies for using English.
3. If you see me in a mid B lobby, player numbers will have fallen to an all time low. See 1. above.
4. I wasn‘t looking for a high level critique. I was venting my spleen because I don’t appreciate cheaters.

This was not one of your lobbies.
I object to rules being put in place only to be ignored by the ignorant. Hence my post.
Are you saying that racing conditions can be ignored as long as it’s a good race?

Daily A is pretty fun. Maybe it's just because I love the F40; best car Ferrari ever made and don't try to convince me otherwise.

2:00.899 quali time. Took a few races to get used to everything but finally got my win! I'll be doing more of these this week... likely won't bother with B or C.

Didn’t mean to offend. All I was getting at, is I have a feeling that at that DR level, a lot of them don’t know the rules. Hell, I never even entered my first daily C back in GTS, until I was well into the B ranks.

Unfortunately I’m at work till Wednesday and won’t get to play it till then. But I wish they’d enable H-Patrern shifters for daily A’s. With no DR/SR, I see no reason not to let people use them….Even if there are ways for people to cheat with them. I sure as hell know I’d be in daily A’s a lot more if I was allowed to use my shifter.

The fact we can't use shifters in daily races is the reason I disconnected mine. I know I'd probably suck when competing against paddle-shifters, but if I dropped down to DR C, and could compete with paddle-shifters, I probably would reconnect it.

Except now that I think about it, I sold my shifter. So never mind - except to say that I agree with you in principle. :dopey:

Thanks for the reply, appreciate it.

Its difficult to tell who knows what tbh because as soon as the race is over, 80% of the entry has already left the lobby! So many people with nothing to say save the occasional “why did you xxxxx” comment. Even those are getting rarer these days.

I don’t know, playing the AI in EA PGA Tour is becoming more & more attractive these days.

I may return to the offline championships back in GTS as there are massively more of them than GT7 has. Variety in GT7, offline & online, really needs to improve. The stagnation threshold is close, if not already breached.

They’re still allowed in multiplayer lobbies as I’m sure you know. I use the hell out of mine, because I still play probably 60/40 single player to sport mode. I really do love collecting, and driving different cars. The 800pp NBG and Spa 1 hour are my personal favorites. Not to mention tuning cars. I’m still tweaking my F40 LM car that sits right at 745pp on RS tires. I can beat my BOP Gr.3 times by 1.5-2 seconds a track while still heel-toeing. And that’s with my transmission set identically to the GR.3 458. Driving Group C cars as well as old gr.5 and GT1 cars with a good FFB wheel, H-pattern and VR is some of the most fun you can get!

How’d you guys do in the storm? You’re in SoCal too, right? It was a big nothing-burger in San Diego

Definitely! I was so disappointed when I realized we couldn't use the shifter and clutch. It was a Daily C with the 787B a long time ago. It really adds to the immersion of the three pedal cars.

The parents must be so proud :sly:

I wonder where he'll put his 7th place trophy.

Very important you know.

This is why very often Sport Mode is a strange place...you get that frustration, not because you lost a position, but cause the algorithm doesn't recognise this behaviour as what it is, PD needs to implement harsher penalties
What the heck, PD? I only have to wait 5 minutes for the next race to start at Spa? Did someone fall into a vat of common-sense, or something?
This, I was doing the last lap at Spa when I took a quick look at the phone and...OH in 10min I'm gonna race another time, so you do a Spa lap in something around 2min...8-7min before starting again, what an incredible chance to have a proper QT improvement during the off-time between two races :D neither the time to go to the kitchen to have a glass of water :D

Sooooooo....finally I'm reversing my bad period in Sport Mode, Spa this week could become my re-launch, did 3 races tonight, with all good results.
Q 5 F 3
Q 8 F 10
Q 10 F 5

So what about the second race? Well I was approaching the end of the lap when a great user just crashed at full speed from behind, so I jumped against the car I was chasing and got a 5 WHOLE SECONDS penalty.
5 sec.
And not my fault.
I needed to practically re-start the race being overtaken by 3 and chasing them down again.
But a good night, gained some point to go out of the risk zone and have a solid C rating.

Grumpy need to tell you that I'm using your beloved Renault and feels really nimble, agile...she's great cause you can put her where you want, and you've done a great QT with her, WOW.
May try something more powerful, lots of people using japanese but I'm feeling kinda of european, tried the R8 and she's good but little clumsy on corner in SPA...but I think it's just my poor driving skills ahahahaha

I've got a question for you guys. I don't want this to devolve into a "you could go faster if you just..." type of discussion. I'm just curious if I'm alone in this.

These days, I almost always drive with these assists:

TCS: 2
ASM: On
CA: Strong

I'm almost always DR B above 75%, and I'm regularly in the 85-95% range, with the occasional foray into DR A for a few races before I drop back down to B (which is fine with me).

So am I the only one at this level who uses these assists? Again, I'm just curious.

How’d you guys do in the storm? You’re in SoCal too, right? It was a big nothing-burger in San Diego
Yeah, I'm near Disneyland. And yep, it was just wet for a while. Had to laugh, though - Home Depot had aisles cleaned out from people buying boards to, um, I'm not really sure what they did with them.

I keep trying other cars, and I can tell that some of them are certainly faster than the R.S.01, but nothing holds the track for me like it. And I'm with you - it's just my poor driving skills that don't allow me to drive the other cars well.

That, and I've always had a problem understanding some of the nuances of Spa. There are places I lose time to other people, and I just have no idea how to do it better. I mean, I can tell I'm not driving those spots optimally, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do them better. I'm sure I'm not alone in having problems in these areas, but...

T1, of course. People always pull away from me there. I seem to make the turn well, but I guess I'm not hitting the gas soon enough. Either that, or they're not really pulling away that much - it just seems like it because we're right next to each other when we're going slow, and once we hit the gas, the gap naturally widens. I'm not sure, maybe some of both.

I'm getting better at 5-8.

T9 always seems like it's either hit or miss. It seems like there's barely fractions of a second and speed between hitting it right and not.

T14-15 are critical, and I'm getting better at them.

And of course 18/19 are just a mystery to me. I mean, I'm not horrible at them, but there's been times someone has been way behind me, and by the time we're back to approaching T1, they've cut the gap in half.

Oh well, if it was easy, it would be boring I suppose.

Yeah, I was at Home Depot too getting some concrete for a job I had to do at home. I went to scope out some 1/2” birch plywood for my van floor…. And I was shocked to see them cleared out of the cheap stuff AND the expensive stuff. Didn’t even occur to me when I was walking through the parking lot into Home Depot, and noticed a bunch of yuppies trying to strap 8’ sheets of plywood to their Prius’s and Subies.

Typical media… whipping the lemmings into a frenzy 😂

To your question about assists. Yeah, at your basically very High-B level, you’re probably one of the few that uses CSA and ASM in race. I hear of people using them for TT to set a good qually, but with those 2 specific assists, you really lose the ability to “hustle and manipulate” the car in corners. I still use TCS-1 in gr.3 and gr.2 cars….. and kind of feel like I’m going be of the few that uses it in the high-A/A+ levels. But I don’t care, my overall speed is faster if I use it.

But I would try to ween yourself off the other assists

I'm back from my little Maine vacation and since I have the this week off of work will mean the return of afternoon daily races for me. I haven't tried Race A yet, but I'll give it ago eventually. I'll be focusing on race B this week as I'm not a fan of the Nurburgring GP circuit. I used the GT-R '18 and set a time of 2:22 flat. I then saw a few of you in my friends list in the R.S.01 GT3 '16 and got to a 2:21.6XX. I can knock a few more tenths of a second off with more practice as this is the first time I've used this car ever.

What's a good time for Spa? Currently sat in Driver Rating C, only started playing the game last week, haven't touched GT since GT6 pretty much. I'm currently at 2.19.1 in a 650S GT3, on ACC I'm in 2 16s, so experimenting a little with the lines on GT. I'm currently winning rating C classes by over 15 sec per race almost. What can I expect as I progress?

I'm a TCS1 and ABS Default user, anything else disabled, TCS at 2 only in the rain or with the Gran Turismo Prototype Vision kinda of car or what their name is, sometimes also with the 911RSR.

The Renault really turns in a hand, is the most agile car in GT with that power I think.
I hear you on Spa, it's a mistery and that is why is so popular and technical, from the Eau Rouge (in the Renault is a delight cause we can just keep the throttle on), for me the critical parts are the slowest with the 1 La Source that is a really make or break start of a track and the final Bus Stop Chicane where everytime I ask myself "Am I too slow? too fast? should I approach in another way?" :D

Are we sure that oil condition doesn't change performance in daily races again now? I just had a Race B where I was topping out at 235 KMH on the straights, instead of 255 without a tow. I thought that maybe my pedals needed calibration, but they were fine. I changed the oil and was back to normal the next race.

I've surprisingly taken pretty well to the F40 this week so far. My fast lap was originally 51st on the charts, although I guess daily race A isn't exactly one that alot of people play so not many really fast guys in it.

TCS 1, ABS weak, everything else off. I'll turn TCS up to 2 in the rain.

I went to Disneyland in January-February. I miss it. Disney World was better though.

Are you the only one? Doubt it. While you may be in the minority, if it works for you that's what counts. If you're running high-B you're obviously consistent, fast and having a good time. Don't screw-up a good thing. 😁

I'm running with everything off and abs set to weak on a DS4. This does bite me at times...but it's also saved my bacon countless more. When those systems are turned-off, there are things you can do with the car that you simply cannot when they're enabled. For instance, going full drift-mode due to avoiding an incident becomes mildly impossible when the electronics are trying to defeat the exact goal you're shooting for...wheel-spin and sideways. Should you count on/aim for driving that way? Absolutely not. BUT, and when needed, you absolutely should be able to. Problem is, you can't "turn them off quick" mid-incident.

You might have fun with 'em off, though. Run some practice/quali laps with everything off and see how it goes. Give it some time to acclimate and, if it just doesn't work-out, turn stuff back on incrementally.

OK, this whole oil conversation has my curiosity piqued...especially when you start talking about blown motors and such (wonder what THAT sounds like). Is this stuff for really-reals?

For settings

Abs weak
Tcs 0-2 with two being for rain and barely hanging on tires.

Everything else off

It's either something like that or I inadvertently changed fuel maps.

I was testing between the RS01 which I usually like and the GT-R at Spa but I was''t having a good time. Then I switched to the 911RSR and bam I start posting times in the 2:21s. Finally I get a 2:21.070 at which point I think that is good enough for the DR B race. I've a 2:20.5 in me but my consistency is not there yet.
A 2.19.1s QT is a stellar time that ranks up there with the better DR A/DR A+ crowd. Your natural level is obviously not DR C.... I predict your will progress through C and B rather rapidly. You will probably get to DR A if that time performance is applicable to other tracks as well.

In comparison my time as a mid DR B was 2:21.070. That only came after about 3 hours practicing. But it did lead to a win on my second race :)

My evening started with me feeling like I could not drive. My times were horrible. I tried some QT for daily C but I just don't like Nurburgring. I switched to B and my times were lackluster to say the least but they steadily improved over an hour or two. Still not great though which was disappointing as I usually do okay and get good results at Spa. I was still in the 1:22s, now in the 911RSR when I pulled a ghost of someone who posted a time in the 1:19s. Looking at how he drove it really wasn't that different to me, just a bit smoother everywhere so I chase it. That finally got me, rather rapidly actually into a 1:21.070 time with an optimal in the mid 1:20s. I figured that was good enough for a race at my level.

Race 1

Started Q4 and made it up to 3rd before slipping back again for a P4 finish and CRB. Good start considering I wasn't feeling confident to start with.

Race 2

Started Q4 again but this lobby was a lot closer. The racing was tight but on lap 2 I take P1 after P1-3 have an incident. I pull out a lead but by lap 3 that is gone and I am under pressure again. Lap 4 P2 makes a move on me but I had already switch my focus from them to the turn and brake and turn in and we hit. If you've ever watched the YT channel LastTenth that would be their classic vortex of danger move. In the end I survive and P2 drops back. I pull out a lead for a bit but last lap nerves get to me and by the last chicane that lead is gone. I manage to hold it together for the win! My first in an upper B lobby.

Below is excepts from the race along with the collision between me and P2. At the end of the race he was cool with it shouting out to me that "he almost had it!".

This was not one of your lobbies.
I object to rules being put in place only to be ignored by the ignorant. Hence my post.
Are you saying that racing conditions can be ignored as long as it’s a good race?
No it wasn't one of my lobbies as I'm on holiday :) but in all of the lobbies I've raced D to A a 1 minute penalty is huge especially considering there is only a max of 1 minute 30 seconds to finish when the leader crosses the finish line.

So here is the rub, people have the option to ignore the mandatory requirements or just don't read them. Either way they are the ones that lose out. They get penalised and essentially taken out of the race in almost all circumstances via the penalty placement. So I can't see what the problem is.

To your other point, that is not what I said or meant as you well know.

There are 2 very distinct things here.

1. Penalties specifically walk contact and track limits are too harsh for the length of races and need to be dialled back.

2. If you flip it round, does a 1 second penalty for a slight track limits over run on the last lap make it fair?

And if you look at point 2 the real time loss for a .5 pen is 1 second and 3 seconds for a wall contact on the last lap that doesn't meet the criteria for slowing at the penalty line.

That shows that the real cost of these penalties in race is essentially double the given time served shows.

Anyone know what’s happened to the oil now in this game?
So last time I really played the game and did daily races the oil wasn’t an issue and it only needed changing in single player mode. Last week I ran loads of RBR back to back and it wasn’t until I went to my garage I noticed the oil was on red saying worn.

Is oil now a factor in Daily races? Not playing this week as the combo not my thing so can’t really test it.
There is a new change, but not just with the oil - I found that I was having to change the oil every 2 days last week, and then on Sunday the engine and chassis stiffness lights were both showing yellow too!

Whilst I appreciate they do not affect the performance in the dailies, it's definitely not something I've ever had to do before in GT7.
