LOL! I've owned 3 different RX7s (with rotary engines, of course), so to me, it's music to my ears. But I totally understand that.
Love the noises RX-7's make. The 787 tho.....šŸ˜

Haven't gotten a chance to run any races at Spa yet, which is frustrating. Did get to run some qualifier laps and am feeling pretty good there. Using the 911 as I seem to be most consistent with that through the exceptionally tight bits. Ran the Jag and the Benz for a bit, too, which are both fun but I can't get them up to the pace the 911 is at. Still want to throw the Ford GT at it to see how that goes. Saw one towards the top of the board at last check so might have a chance.

Also, is there some sort of ban on 6th gear at Spa. I mean, holy BoP, Batman...pretty sad when it's just not worth it/slower to use 6th.šŸ˜

With the BOP tuning it appears 6th is useless on the 911RSR. It appears top speed is in 5th as if I change to 6th, not only do you lose time in gear shifting but the car actually can't maintain speed and begins to slow down slightly. Just have to rev it out for the two long straights.

Ya, it seems the same is true of the NSX, Mclaren, and Lamborghini. I just hold fifth.

One day I really should learn to proof read before posting. I meant Dyson (as in the vacuum) and not Tyson as in the boxer. :D

But you knew what I meant.
I did indeed know what you meant, and even though I knew "Tyson" didn't sound right, my brain auto-corrected it.

I hear ya. I think - there's a ringing in my ears...
And it has a beautiful grunt, unlike the obnoxious RX :P

I think I like the sound of the Supra best, and I think it's the fastest car speed-wise that I've tried, but I need to tame it some more. You can use its top gear on Kemmel, and I regularly top out at 162 there.

Seriously, the sound of the Supra reminds me of something that Tim Allen on Home Improvement would grunt over. It also makes me want to ask how many gallons per mile this car gets - you can just hear it suck down gas.

Eventually tried the RX and took a second off my qualy time. I'm assuming just to spite myself. Ugh!

Right I'm boycotting the rest of the week in protest

I'm struggling mightily at Spa this week. I can't seem to drive any car properly and it's getting frustrating. I only did one race yesterday and it was not good. I was in a lobby with mainly A rank drivers and my start in P11 put me in the middle of the bus stop. I had no pace and I don't think the R.S.01 GT3 '16 is the right car as I was a sitting duck on the straights. And today, I switched to the Porsche and had the same problem with no pace. It felt like my car was in quicksand or something. I start and finish in P12. It doesn't help that I'm one of a few B rank drivers in A+/A rank driver lobbies. I'm going to cut my losses and be done for the week. Hopefully next week as some good combos.

Which cars have you all tried? I'm really finding the Huracan to be good for me. I'll hit 256 KMH on the straight with no draft, not quite as fast as the top dogs, but I love the balance of it with TCS 1.

Ya, which cars?

I'm using the NSX, Huracan, and McLaren. They all turn in nicely so you can maintain corner speed. I saw there was an RCZ in the top times, but, although it's my favourite car, I can't get it to turn at all.

I don't like the traction control. It takes away it's liveliness. I used it for my qualifying time and I'm at 2:19.8

Don't give up on the 911RSR. At our level it is certainly competitive. You're currently 0.8s behind me and I know I can go another .4 in this car. There may be better cars for A/A+ ranked drivers but for B it is dependable.

I was initially slow with all cars but then Spa kind of clicked. It took a couple of hours of lapping and then selecting a ghost from Showcase of a driver who took the car around in a 2:19.45, watching their replay and chasing their ghost and then its came together.

Of the three races I did yesterday these were the finishing positions. You can see which cars came out tops. These were all B lobbies.

One thing I found with the 911RSR. Coming out of La Source I can often be faster than other cars to Eau Rouge and they can slow me up, but it runs out of steam up Kemmel and if a Supra is behind me it will typically get beside me, if I am unable to defend, and then go side by side into Les Combes (with me usually backing off to avoid calamity).

The Supra is certainly quick but I've also gained from many of those crashing out in front of me. I think most B drivers don't have the skill to handle it.

I haven't seen any Dysons in my lobbies yet so not sure how they would compete.

BTW. I shared my QT to showcase if you want to see how I did it and want to chase. Search for gtp34 or normsk for tags.

Wow what a difference in players mid/ high A-rated DR lobbies make to lower A lobbies. Usually, I get unlucky on main account but a few good results and I am now being matched to much faster but clean drivers. On my 2nd account, having just reached A-rated DR (both accounts have S rated SR) the difference is incredible and NOT in a good way!

Race 1 - I start P13 and within 1.5 laps at Spa, I am P7 and almost got P6 after he overshot the braking marker. Logic states rather than admit the error and let me past, he hits me twice and almost sends me spinning. He didn't (I managed to keep control) but lost momentum and then the filth accumulates...

In half a lap, I am completely dismantled with all the hits! Surprised I didn't unlock extreme damage mode and saw the bodywork fall off.... Long-story short, between punts, rams, damage and me finally losing a bit of concentration, I am in down in P15 and all through this, despite the filth, I still always tried to keep it clean! Finished in P14 and nobody who hit me got a penalty...

Race 2 - I put the effort to get a 2:19:x on 2nd account and start P7 and not even 10 seconds go by! P6 overshoots, I pass him T1 Lap 1 and this was unacceptable to him so he pits me and I am now last. I quit that one and turned off the PS5...

Here is Race 1 - had to shower after as the dirt from others made me feel insecure about myself...

So, I just switched from the Huracan to the R8 for Race B and dropped my QT from 2:20.2 to 2:19.8 on my second lap with it. Guess I've found a new ride for today. Still don't like to use the meta, and even at low A DR I don't think it matters too much.

I hear you. It's been hit or miss for me, but the feeling of being stuck in the mud is something I experienced also. Mostly it's just that if you don't come out of certain corners, like T1, quickly enough, there's a lot of track for people to get all up in your backside.

I'll give it a try right now. I meant to try it, but I had forgotten about it. Thanks!

OK, I'm done with Race B this week (yeah, sure, you've heard it before). It's mostly because I just suck, which seems to give the green light to everyone else to not give a crap about how their driving impacts me. I've got better things to do with my time than get kicked in the ass by people.

And maybe my ego's a little bit butt-hurt right now. Ok maybe not just a little. I guess I need this:

Slowly regaining ground in my ranking but it's a slog, there's a sweet spot hour to play in the european server, it's like after dinner but not too much after....you need to still have toothpaste flavour in your mouth to be able to do a couple of decent race without the usual bunch of -apply bad word here- that wants to ruin the fun.
Did 3 races, best position 4th..I really like Spa, I know the track 100%, I can race there really fast, but I just can't do a proper QT, I just can't reach a good QT...I often make an overall fast lap in race but I can have a QT to start in the first three.
The great thing is that at the same hour I find the same 3 bad apples every night in the last period, they just roam around, and it's incredible they can keep the SR - S, it's a joke

Three more B races tonight and my march up the DR B ranks continues to my surprise! I tried some of the different cars mentioned here to see if one would work better than the 911RSR for me and while some were almost as quick, I never found the same pace over the entire race and found some to be less confidence inducing and for me, even if I lose .2s per lap, having confidence and consistency reigns supreme over out and out speed. So I went back to the 911RSR and took a bit more time off my QT.

I had QT starts of 7, 5 and 4 with finishes of 4, 4 and 3rd respectively. I've now gained 24% since the start of the week and I'm at 74% DR B.

I will say that tonight's racing was a bit bumpier with a quite a few SR A drivers in the lobby than other races and after the last I discovered that my SR dropped to A. Damn, that's going to put me in with the rougher crowd going forward.

This is highlights from the last race.

I realize a lot of the bumping is me giving love kissing to the cars in front. There is irony in that my car has the words "my rear is not your brake!" on the back :D

I'm trying to stay closer to the cars in front to give me more passing opportunities but that leads to some bumping when cars in front brake earlier than expected. I try to brake earlier myself to anticipate this but it is a fine line as if I brake too early then I get hit as well. Sometimes I'm the ping pong ball between two bats. Thankfully, this is all low impact bumps and when I do due this I back off so that the car in front remains in front. Still it killed my SR..

In the last race I got passed by a 650S at La Source on lap 2. Then it was very annoying as it held me up for two laps. I was all over it and trying to pass but couldn't make an attempt stick. We bumped a lot during that and I probably lost my SR there. I finally passed at La Source (cleanly) on lap 4 and apart from one failed attempt by P4 to pass me, I then had a clean run and pulled out 2 seconds per lap over those behind me. I think I probably lost 4 seconds, or even more, over 2nd due to the 650S.

Perhaps I'll stop there anyway and not push my luck. No races the next two days as I have movie plans the next two nights. Seeing Gran Turismo tomorrow.

What do you think of it, comparing to other cars?

I'm about to start a league with it and Spa is one of the rounds.

Thanks.
Before explaining my feelings towards the car I'll put in the disclaimer: I am lower B DR and none of us uses the car to it's fullest, my views won't replicate what a A driver feels.

I like it a lot, it has grunt and the steering is good for a.heavy FR car. I am running it in the TPC Endurance league so it felt natural to take it to spa. I do 257 km/h up Kemmel with no draft, it's an easy full throttle through Eau Rouge too.
Very good off throttle turn-in also and as long as you're looking the right place the car goes where you want. Putting distance to Porsches not only on the long straights but also at Pouhon.

Edit: having liveries for it is also part of it for me :)

Ran another race B a while ago.
After all these races online I can still get an adrenaline rush, heart beating, hands shaking on lap 3 already.... I went from p12 to p6, then cut the final chicane by 2 pixels and got 1 second penalty. Send me to P7. Then as we enter the final bus stop the idiot behind me (I brake late, with ABS weak) rams me right up the wazoo and he finished P7 while I got send to P11.
Mad as ****. Wrote "I want to say something but I would be banned".

I shared the replay if anyone wants to see the Corvette in action. It's tagged TPC and GTP. Anyway, I don't expect anyone to look :)

The guy behind me in the Dodge must be closely matched to me. When ever I join a lobby, there he is

Have you considered adding the words ā€œBrace yourself, Love Kiss Incomingā€ to the front of your car? Iā€™m sure that the rough crowd in SR A would appreciate it.
