Another win tonight (my 3rd ever) on my 100th race!

I think I will be running with the 911 RSR for a while! šŸ¤Œ

90% of times I come here to complain and moaning about users behaviours but today is my fault....I did 2 races tonight, in each of them I was 3rd during the last lap and in each I screwed up everything with a glorious spin against the wall and ended 11-12.
Didn't have the guts to try again my luck tonight :D

I made a mistake. I said I wasn't going to race today as I was heading out to watch Gran Turismo. Well I had some time before that so I did two races. Bad move. I met the dregs of society and my driving left a lot to be desired as well. I swear the worse the drivers around you, the worse you drive yourself.

Race 1 I QT in 10. That puts me in the thick of it. Lots of argy-bargy and I punted people myself. Add in some crashes, either though my doing or being hit and I came in last. Worse it dropped my SR even worse to B.

Next race as I QT in 4 which is better but the entire lobby is SR B. It did not go well. Lots of fighting between cars. I got knocked out several times and each time I would work my way back, someone would just slam me in a corner or if I passed them, then proceed to deliberately pit me to take me out again. I came in 14th, last again.

I loved daily B this week and had high quality driving with the SR S drivers but if this is what SR B gives me I'm out for the rest of the week.

Reviewing both races, I hit so many cars because they were just so unpredictable. Never knew when they would brake, slide out, deliberately aim for you and whatever cornering strategy I had went out the window. SR Bs do not drive like SR S. You can say they are full of BS.

I may run round daily C now and run at the back out of trouble (DR rating be damned) just to get my SR back to S...

I decided to give Spa another try. Started P3. Made a small mistake at T1, and by the time I got to Speakers, everyone had rammed me around left and right, and I was P13. Got so frustrated that I intentionally took out P14 who tried to bully his way past me. And then I said **** it, and rage quit.

I do not like this track named Spa
I do not like the things I saw
I do not like getting punted on the grass
So they can all go and kiss my ***

That's how my night ended too, and my week. No more racing for the weekend.

Eventually tried the RX and took a second off my qualy time. I'm assuming just to spite myself. Ugh!
Followed your lead on this one again, and took a big chunk off my QT as well šŸ˜Š.

I knew it was going to go well as soon as I saw how big a gap I left to my GTR ghost after turn 1. I probably left about .3 secs on the table too.

Not the easiest car to race though, loses a lot of speed if you get it even slightly out of shape!

Since I joined the forums back in GTS there has always been lots of talk regarding the DR/SR system.

My only experience of multiplayer car racing has been the GT franchise.

Whilst I appreciate I could probably ā€œgoogleā€ this, I was wondering if someone with the relative experience could give me some indication as to how the various competence ratings systems are dealt with by other racing games/simulations.

Any insight appreciated.

I had to Google "Speakers Corner". Never heard that name before.

I have been fortunate this week to start further back in the field and have been passing other unfortunate drivers off the track.

The rating system is honestly pretty much fine outside of the problem that SR is only on a scale of 0-99.
The boundaries are therefore too close to eachother and it means you can drive really dirty, because any drop in SR can be regained by only a couple of clean races.

Unless you're racing at Spa, when your SR drops without any contact with other cars, and it seems to be impossible to get it back up again! I dropped from S to A yesterday, without any contact penalties....

Some very unexpected clean & hard racing at Spa in 2.30-3.00am lobbies last night!!

My 2.19.758 still has me slumming it on the second page of the grid BUT the guys ahead are some quite high DR dudes. Amongst them, our very own @GOTMAXPOWER with a somewhat (very) humble quali time. Some banter being thrown around in the chat between a couple of Spanish, UK guys and a Saudi left me expecting the worst but as it turns out they were impeccable, fair drivers.

A mixture of the fastest qualifiers binning themselves and some of my own uncharacteristically bold overtakes brought me up into the Top 10. Including this one going into the chicane on Lap 2...

I never normally attempt a pass there, and if I do I normally fail, so was pretty pleased about it. Later on, I applied sufficient pressure on the Saudi for enough time that he indicated for me pass him at Les Combes (amazed). He probably expected to fight the position back but apparently I was really in the groove and I left him for dust.

Had a similar experience at spa last year, I had just made to DR:B for the first time and had so many bad races at spa I went backwards to DRD and just stopped sport for 6 months, just started again recently when they had Bathurst. I'm very picky now which tracks I'll race at, Bathurst & Nurgbergring GP have been really good. I've currently been racing on the Nurgbergring GP with the Huracan no stop with short shifting to save fuel and been finishing in the the top 5 each time.

Based on my earlier comments of switching to race C and that my aim is not necessarily for top 5 position but rather a clean race, what cars and strategies might you recommend?

No wear issues with the tires for a no stop? Any short shift is sufficient without fuel map?

I'm using TCS2, it's still very squirelly!
Believe it or not, I used TCS 3 on it. That worked for me.

I hear you. Fortunately for me I've got enough races under my belt to know that this is a anomaly, so I won't quit altogether. The real issue for me is T1, lap 1. I need to quit screwing that up to give me a chance at the rest of the race.

I'm starting to recognise some of you in the races I'm in, I've unfortunately dropped to SR B though after racing at Spa, the S and A classes have been absolute clowns mid pack hitting and crashing into everyone it's like pin balls but SR B yesterday and today has been so much cleaner racing.

Last lap, last corner overtake for 2nd, this is probably my best race at Spa.

I'm sure it will come as no surprise to anyone who knows me on this site, but I took another stab at Spa this morning:

The secrets to my success:
  1. Drive the Supra. It's got so much power, you can recover from even my stupid mistakes.
  2. Survive T1, Lap 1, by
    • Almost losing it into the berm, but saving it.
    • Let 1 car pass me before the end of Eau Rouge (T2/T3).
    • That's right, swallow my pride and get in line.
  3. Let the power of the Supra on the top straight keep me ahead of the guy behind me, who really wanted to pass but didn't have the opportunity.
  4. Have the guy in front of me lose it on Les Combes (T6/T7) and pass him on the inside (wasn't even close).
  5. Focus on driving, only to notice the guys behind me starting to drop way back.
  6. With a 4 second lead, drive laps 2-4 like I know what I'm doing.
  7. On lap 4, I watch in horror as someone from the back of the pack passes P3 and starts to make a run at me.
  8. But 4 seconds in one lap? Come on - no worries!
  9. 2 second lead coming out of Stavelot (15), because I'm shaking like a leaf.
  10. P3 must have had a penalty or just lost it there, because the lead was suddenly back up to 3.9 seconds.
  11. Take the bus stop like I have a fish bowl in the passenger seat.
  12. Finish P2, exhausted.
Notice I didn't mention P1? He won by 12 seconds.

I'm gonna take a nap now.

That sounds a lot like how I've been attacked it the last couple of days but your dead right on the whole race, T1 and Lap 1 is a true survival game, lap 2 - 4 is making that gap up and then there's usually one person who's finally made their way through the pack but P1 has usually been miles in front, definitely not DR C or at least we're in the wrong group and should be D's.

Out of curiosity, does Race B and C give the same amount of DR/SR? Iā€™d hope longer races would give/take away more than shorter ones.

No it's the same, and theoretically B is the better race because you can physically do more of them.

Where C comes in to play is that longer races afford more recovery time and "less" first lap heroes or dive bomb desperation sends.

Edit: spelling.

In addition to this, race C is usually a good race if you need to recover your SR rating. It usually spreads out more giving you more clean driving sectors per race so if your SR got knocked back in race B, C can be the remedy.

Speaking of recovering SR. How to lose 4 races of DR gains in just two races. Argh, yesterday was painful and I've got a lot of recovery to do...

Just completed two race C, EMEA slots. Was using an alt that was 40% into DR C and is SR S. It is now grimly hanging onto DR C but is SR A.

First race saw me start 10th. This was mainly because the first 8 runners were DR B and had SR ranging from A to C. Thank you PD for your great attempt at matchmaking! Deplorable behaviour from the drivers, worse I have ever seen, including GT Sport.

That was before my 2nd race which although comprised of all DR C SR S drivers had behaviour akin to Battlegrounds.

There are a lot of complaints about Sony, PD, Penalty systems, Matchmaking, BoP and a myriad others.

There is just one issue with Sport Mode in GT7 and thatā€™s the folks playing it. Apologies if you think you are one of the few genuine enthusiasts. For those of you who now conduct themselves in a manner they feel ashamed of, Iā€™m glad youā€™re feeling that way. If you donā€™t feel ashamed of ruining someones entertainment, then why donā€™t you sell your cars and leave.

How can I see these stats on the screenshot?

Thanks all. Yet another baffling PD design decision.
Eventually they bend your reality to match theirs and it hurts less. šŸ˜

Now feels like a good time to go racing...I'll let you know how I fare. Only share as I think we're all looking for that Cinderella hour somewhere. You know the one, that mystical slice of time where everyone 'dances' in unison and harmony...right before the bell rings and it turns into a mosh pit.

I just find it baffling that anyone on this forum with all the help, advice, guides struggles to get to a DR of B or High C.

The amount of terrible races you guys seem to have blows my mind when the majority of my races are either ok or a few overzealous amateurs over achieving and then throw in the odd meme drivers curve ball.

I just don't understand.
