It's a highly derogatory term, whilst donkey isn't nice either that just means you are an ass/lazy monkey has a much more racially rooted connotation.

You get those drivers mate the amount of clips I have of the petulant racer who is so desperate bud rubbish they resort to that type of racing fills my hard drive.

Let them have the place. It's not worth the hassle/stress or ban. Trust me.
I learnt my lesson. Obv I have seen guys like this before as well, but somehow being mixed for the first time with DR A drivers, I must have thought, this should never happen…

So, the Ford GT Race car isn't the car to use. Too slow on the straights. As for the other details of my only race today, a total disaster. I start P10 and it's chaos in turn 1. I get away from it, only for a driver to come down on me on that turn before the first tunnel. I get a 5 second penalty for that. Then I get dumped about 20 seconds later and get a wall collision penalty. 6.5 seconds of penalties ends my race. I give up and just turn laps. I do finish P15 so yay.....

Now I'm back on the 911 RSR and set the same time as I did in the Ford. All I can do is more practice and hope for the best tomorrow.

Actually, I don't worry too much about position. OK, that's a lie, my ego demands that I look at it. But mostly I ignore it.

I base my target mostly on where I'm getting placed in the actual races. If I'm near the top of the DR B racers, that's about right for me. Also, I pay attention to my friends list (most of whom are from this forum). I generally know who I should be about even with.
What’s your PSN?

As a child of the 70s in Britain we were raised with a whole armada of racial slurs that we threw around without a thought. It's just the way it was back then. None are now used in polite society. I guess this one I'd forgotten about or just never used as a kid. My apologies to pretty much all nations and demographics that I probably slurred as a kid in the 70s/80s.

You never know what you'll learn on a sim racing forums!
Super off topic but there is British sitcom you can find on YouTube that had a racial slur in the titular character's name. The show's purpose was to make fun of the xenophobes he would encounter at work and at the pub. But people didn't get it, complained, and it got cancelled. Probably for the best, as the lead actor wore 'brown face'.

I set my fastest in the 911 and I have another .4 if I can pull the lap together.

After I get a good QT in my comfy car I start trying the other ones in the top 100 QT times.

With that said the pace is there in the Ford but I don't have the skills to keep it competitive in Section 2.

As for race pace if I can start the straight about 7 tenths ahead of a Ford gt I can usually keep my spot under braking.

Strange week: sunday evening I was a race away to be back to B, after a couple of nights being kicked off randomly from the lobby I'm back to D, also regular problems with users and my slow driving style.
First race in D...pole position - clean race - fast lap - victory.
Maybe I should stay in D to feel as a fast driver? :P
Just joking, I'd like to be back to C and stay there for as long as possible as I feel that currently is the ideal place for my QT and race performance.

ps. I'm thinking about starting uploading to youtube the most incredible crashes made by bad apples, this evening a crazy one just crashed full speed against my back sending myself and him against the wall...great choice, great fun.

Fact:

Making fun of one another (and our associated stereotypes), has brought more people together then it’s ever driven apart, in laughter. Visit any 2nd and 3rd world country, and you’ll get it.

It’s only the last 15-20 years in 1st world countries, where we’ve been told it divides people.

And no…. I’m not talking about outright racism through color, religion, or caste systems. I’m talking about normal working class people, poking fun at each other….like working class people do.

Totally with you on this. My opinion piece is as follows...

We've become much too thin-skinned. Much as we've become way too germophobic. Disparate? Maybe not. First, they're both significant and correctable weaknesses. Second, they share the same root cause, good ideas taken to counter-productive levels of execution. Before anyone screams "There's a thread for that!", hear me out...

This all plays-out on the track in every, single, race. One tap on the wrong side-panel and its ON. Then we demand PD go to great lengths to ensure a level playing field against the craft-less masses...we sanitize. It pretty much bleeds into everything/everyone we interact with here, there and everywhere. There is no magical potion, herb or corporate learning retreat that is going to fix it...this one's on the individuals.

I really try to do my part as the 'individual' on the track. When I screw-up, I apologize. I linger after the race to see if I burned anyone. I try not to drive like a 💩head. Zero negative engagement. That's all I can do. I also have to acknowledge not everyone does, and I can't get mad about it. If I do, I just become part of the problem.

As an aside, if I've pitted, pushed, pounded or plundered a win from anyone, it wasn't intentional, it was incompetence. Like earlier when I was running...having a great first lap, sittin' P5 until I got stupid and ruined the race for two of us (likely more). I'm a dumba$$...😁

I hate everyone equally.

In other news, Race C is a barnburner. Stuff happens, but there is time to come back. Such a fun track too. Im trying to practice closely following cars, as well as planned a d reactive passing and this combo can be non stop opportunities for that stuff.

I was born and live in one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world and one of my favourite tv characters as a kid was Archie Bunker. Humour is indeed the ultimate ice breaker and way to accepting one another.

As for Race C, I only had a chance today to do a few qualifying laps in three different cars. The Ford GT didn't feel fun (maybe because it is a Ford) but the 4C and the McLaren felt really good. I suspect this could be a race in which we can express some individuality so I hope it won't be a Ford and Toyota test tomorrow when I play.

EDIT - The show I was referring to was called Curry & Chips. I thought the title was something else.

In other news. B race is a hoot too!
Dropped Q time just .4 and start grid i was 4, 4, 7 in my 3 races with finishing p5, p4, p6 for a complete change from how I did last night when I started 11 and 13 with finishing where I started.

I was around 1300 on the global last night and when I logged in at 6:00pm pacific time tonight I was at 2250.
Dropped .4 and down to 1200 range which is a first for me.
Better starts and much better racing.

Was in the Atenza last night and tonight I started laps with the 650 and spun one too many times at t1 then tried the Huracan and it gelled. Strong in races too. Give it a go if you’re looking for a change.

Had my first in win in a DR B lobby in race C yesterday. In the Peugeot RCZ, while all others were using the Ford. Started on pole and had clean air all the time. A couple of times a Ford came up behind me before T1, but a little bit of defending and I could pull away in sector 1 and 2. I am nowhere near my qualifying time in any other car, so I think I'll stick to the Peugeot.

Had a feeling I could win this one, just needed a race where I didn't get shoved or rammed in the hairpin.

The Ford may be the fastest car on the leaderboard but it seems difficult to be consistent in it. The cockpit view in VR is awful with an A-pillar blocking to much of the left field view so it's not really an option for me. Plus if feels dumb seeing the animation for a stick shift in a gr.3 car . It ruins the immersion in VR a bit much.

I hate everyone equally.
You must have French blood! :D What did I start? Okay everybody, lets get back on track..

Only did the one race C today. I thought I would try a no tire change strategy. I had a very fast and close lobby and still had a few SR A and B in it, but mostly S now. I Q4 with a faster time I set earlier in the day.

First lap I am still Q4 when I dive into the pits hoping to come out in clear air at the back. 3 others also dove in. I came out and was in P10! Damn I did a lap and a pit stop faster than 6 cars on the track.... I probably should have stayed out longer. Pro tip! Don't cross the pit line coming out. I blindly followed another car out of the pits and he crossed the line and so did I and we both got 3s penalties :banghead:. If it weren't for that the rest of this post may not have played out..

The next 10 laps actually weren't that bad and by the start of lap 11 I was P4. Then I became victim to dirty drivers...

Unfortunately my GT7 locked up in the post race lobby as I was saving the replay. I had to restart the game (I haven't had to do that before) and it lost both the replay and the live recording. So what happened next is "paraphrased" from the decaying mind of a cranky old fart...

I knew that the car behind was catching me, fairly quickly (they must have had fresh rubber) so I wasn't going to fight him, but instead, he just rockets into me and slams me into the wall. Two others also jump on that and, at least one, possibly both, also careen off me. I drop to P7 and that was like the worse of the SR B/C dregs moves.. Now wounded, that also let others in the pack catch up with me but I think I am keeping them at bay with around a .3s gap. On the final lap, at turn 10 the car behind crashes into me in the turn. They must have just full sent it into the turn. I actually managed to hold it and we were both entering the tunnel side by side. He had room but instead, tried three times to push me into the wall.

We entered the hairpin with him in front, middle of the track, me now P8 on the outside of the turn and there is room for both of us. We both hit our brakes at the same time but rather than braking straight he moves to the outside or perhaps I moved to the inside - I forget now 🤷‍♂️ - anyway, right where my nose is. I rotate him into the wall, giving me a clean sweep into the turn.

I won't lie, that was more than mildly satisfying :D Also, that carnage kept two more cars from me that were nipping at my heels and I finish in P7.

I didn't feel like the car was losing that much speed at the end but compared to those on fresher rubber it must have been. It was still driving well at the time.

Next race I think I will change tires sometime around lap 5-7 depending on where the traffic falls and see how that goes. I hope to get a complete SR S lobby next time as it was not the SR S drivers in this race that hit me. What a shocker.

So not having raced or really kept up with GT7 since the end of the last Manu series I'm gonna get back into it. Is race B still short and then wait around for ages for the next one?
No and Yes. Last week at Spa, it was perfect. 5 laps that left 5 minutes between races. I thought they'd finally gotten a clue. Then this week at Dragon Trail, 4 laps on the short course, when they had time for 6 and maybe even 7. So that sucks. But the track is fun, anyway.
What’s your PSN?
It's underneath my avatar. dagware. What's yours? (I don't accept friend requests from people I don't know, so that's why I want to know yours.)

I noticed you haven’t had lap times on my friends list for quite some time now. Welcome back!

I’ve been playing less recently too. Between work, my kids activities, and some personal stuff, I’ve had way less time for GT7.

Race B should’ve been 1 or 2 more laps this week!

Thanks @CMB350

A few races to get back into the swing of things this afternoon. It's very messy in Race B is my main takeaway. Plenty of paint swapping and failure to brake. Add in a sprinkle of being ran out wide like I'm overtaking Max Verstappen and its a return to what I was seeing before. Had great fun though!

I learned in my first race this week not to be on the outside on most of the corners. Some of it is intentional, but I suspect most of it is a lack of understanding the physics of driving a car around a corner that fast - at least, that's the excuse I'm giving for the guy I ran off the track. :banghead:

I just want to say that Race C has been some of the worse racing I've encountered in this game. I don't know what it is about this track but every corner is a wreck fest and vendettas seem to start instantly.

I've been running about 2 seconds back on the opening laps just to let them wreck each other and find clean air.

It also doesn't help that the penalty markers spit you back out in the heaviest of braking zones where all you need to do is inch a nose in the the final corner to cause mayhem.
Deep Forest does tend to bring out some aggressive racing.

I swear there's something wrong with that hairpin! It feels like it's absolutely cursed to me, as if the gravity works in mysterious ways just on that corner.

Either way, it's a real flashpoint on any race at that track.

Being side by side requires mutual respect or at a minimum understanding of how to lift off.....in our lobbies it's a 50/50 gamble if the other person understands it.

It's a shame because done properly you can both maintain good speed. When not done with the above it usually ends up with someone mad and in the kitty litter. And both people going slow....

I have been handling the hairpin much better in VR than flat but for all I know, it's my slowest corner. It has felt right, though.

* It really sucks they don't have a delta in VR, even in qualifying. I don't like to use ghosts so all I can judge my performances by is sector time.

Well, Race B as most have commented is too short, and I'm not competitive enough to have a good time on C, so I'll see y'all next week perhaps!
I hear you. I'm addicted enough to continue to race it, but as of now, I don't like it. As you mentioned, it is indeed too short, especially if you fall behind because there's no time to catch up.

But even if you do have time, the only places to pass people require you to bang doors with others at the minimum, and more often, just push them out of the way.

So far, I am not having fun. And I was going to say that it's been a long time since my DR has been this low, except that I'm testing filtering in GranTracker right now, and to my surprise I have been this low or lower July. I don't think I like the filtering feature after all.

2 more races at Deep Forest tonight. I managed to take a few hundredths off of my time so some improvement. Probably would have been more but my oil wasn't fresh so blah.

Race 1 has me in P9 to start. Some bumping into turn 1 and the like but nothing too bad. I'm the victim of a 3 car chain reaction and get spun, but I save it exiting the tunnels. Everyone settles down and then I get the most unjustified penalty I've ever gotten. I just touch the back of a car in the final hairpin and I get a 2 second Forced a Car off Track penalty?! How in the world is that a 2 second penalty? I barely made contact! They never left the track! I do manage to steal P8 when two other drivers take each other out.

Race 2 I start P11 but I do a stupid and crash into half the field in the final hairpin on lap 1 as the two cars in front of me were on the brakes way earlier than I anticipated. I apologize during the race and then hit the wall and get a penalty as my car switched back to me driving. I almost quit, but I keep going and am involved in a nice race for P11 with us trading spots every lap. I do finish P11 when someone forgot to pit so the DR hit is not as bad.

Don't know if I'll race tomorrow as I seem to be unlucky at this track. I am feeling much more comfortable in the Porsche and know I have a few more tenths I can take off my time. I am liking the race and the combo is nice so no complaints there at least.

Had a couple of races at Deep Forest this evening. Started from the back both times as I’m very rusty and also want to avoid the lap one carnage.

Race 1 - McLaren 650 - pitted at the end of lap 2. No mistakes but also not overly fast as the 650 seems to struggle up the hill and lacks a little top end. Fantastic in the twisty stuff. Finish 8th and instantly restore my SR to S (the object of the exercise after a couple of bad races at Spa last week).

Race 2 - Alfa 4C - I used this car briefly for a recent time trial but otherwise am unfamiliar. Started P16. Lots of action on lap 1 and I’m up to 12th but in the middle of a bunch who are squabbling. Amazingly, I’m the only one that decides to pit at the end of the lap. I’m about 0.5-0.7 faster in the Alfa and that proves crucial. Mid race I had a nice two lap battle with a Canadian chap called McTorque in a 7-up Supra, and by the end of lap 10 when the pit stops have shaken out, I’m running in 4th and feeling pretty smug!! And then disaster strikes… the Alfa eats rear tires and so I had a half spin at the bottom of the hill, recovered and then got murdered at the top hairpin. Get murdered again on the last lap and I cross the line in 12th. But then all the penalties get applied and I’m back in 8th! A fun race but was very close to a P4 if I hadn’t made that small error which then put me in the wrong part of town.

There's definitely something strange going on there! Occasionally the car lurches left into the barrier as you exit the turn, and there's nothing you can do to stop it - even the use of driving aids doesn't prevent it.

It's not like an oversteer kick caused by over-enthusiastic application of the throttle, just a weird sort of lurch.

Managed another win in race C with the Peugeot yesterday. But I realized I can only win with that car if I start from pole, it's useless otherwise. As it is only strong in sector 1 and if you get stuck behind the Fords you'll lose so much time it's impossible. Tried doing a qualifying lap with the Ford, but the thing doesn't turn at all. It's like having steering sensitivity at 2 or something. The Porsche would maybe be the best option then for me, but have yet to manage doing a qualifying lap faster with that than the Peugeot. I'll try some other cars today and see if there is something else that would work better.

The road drops on the way through and it's steepest right at the apex, plus if you get a wheel inside the curb at the same time, that seems to pull the front around quite neatly. Give it an extra few inches space, but obviously not so much that someone will slide in. 😁

I've had some fun races at C this week, but the twisty section is full on, accident waiting to happen territory in traffic.

Surprisingly, I've had cleaner races in B so far despite a highest start of 7th so far. Even managed to run side-by-side with someone all through the quad right, which was awesome.
