I watched a couple of tuning guides for dampers. Based on those I tried a few laps with front and rear expansion maxed at 50 and rear compression at 30 and front compression at 35 (I wasn't keen on compression at 40 for front). I would not say I am faster but I was able to lap consistently within .2s of my QT time and I found the cornering to be more firm/controllable with less role/brake dive and if I did slide (this can produce a more slidy car which is not much of an issue with the 911) I found it to be more controllable with less chance to spin out.

I need to play with it more. I'd be interested on what others are doing with dampers.
Hi, man, I'm very interested in your vehicle training. Do you know where there is a daily training video or vehicle training software?

A+S, down to BC due to wet weather teaming up on on a Sunday, back to A+S in less than 2 weeks.

Not Bhad

Know that I should be A+ pace from this forevererer.

Well, last night I had a much better experiencie from what it was on monday (Daily C).
I had just one racing incident and cant decide whose at fault here.

My take was that he wasnt close enough to try passing me before the turn without diving, and thats why I tried to make the apex without going wide.
His take was that he was already there and I should have take a much wider line. "Your falut, you swerve into me" was literally his response.

I must say that I wasnt using radar because I was monitoring fuel usage and by the look on the rear view mirror I thought I could make the apex without risk of being pitted.

In any case, its clear to me that there was no bad intentions and was only a racing incident.

To be fair I don’t think he was trying to overtake. You both braked at the same time and he looked like he was trying to hold the brakes to let you go. The contact came because you turned in before you were clear of him.

I’d definitely say it was a racing incident. No malice on either side.

I would have backed out, slipping behind, as I thought the guy ahead has right of way in that scenario. That said, this is clearly another example of how vr is great in these situations, as it's pretty trivial to clock someone creeping in with the side mirrors

That is actually the other guys fault. Not yours. He was in the wrong.

I would say that this video from LastTenth is very useful regarding this situation. It's what he calls the "vortex of danger" and the video explains how to recognize it, avoid it and defend against it. My driving improved as I started to learn this.

It looks like both of you were gambling on the other guy braking a bit sooner.
Initially, it was just an incident. The second contact didn't need to happen. He should have held off on the throttle when you were sideways in front of him, instead of dooring you.

Thanks a lot!
Very useful tips on that video.

How do you deal with lag? Luckily it's quite rare for me, but just had one race C where the other cars were jumping all over the place. I assume when everyone's jumping it's my connection that's at fault. Presumably they're seeing me jumping about?

After unsuprisingly being bumped off on lap 1, I wanted to just keep plugging away and pick up positions as others have bigger offs than me or pop into the pits. I soon had another driver right in front of me who lost an almost identical amount of time in his off. I tried to keep just a little way behind as we were similair speed and didn't want to leap all over the place when fighting for position.

Soon found we were catching the back of the pack up, it was too much to ask to hang back from the slow drivers, so managed to overtake a couple without incident and eventually brought it home in 8th to save any loss of DR. If it wasn't for the big SR hit on quitting I may have just bailed out instead.

I pause for autodrive (It ghosts your car) until my conection is good again.
That prevents you to hit others and also avoid being rammed.
The bad side is that you will loose significant pace but is prefereable that to cause a big mess.

If the 458 didn’t turn in on the other car both drivers could have made the corner just fine. Personally I don’t like the driving style of I’ll take up every little bit of track to the detriment of us both. Unless I can really just that driver’s skills and sportsmanship. Also if the 458 was defending the corner correctly in theory there wouldn’t be a car on the inside of the turn, but you could have also been punted for protecting your line. The best part about this is that it sounds like you guys had a semi civil conversation about it and no one retaliated against each other in that race or future ones.
Mutual respect for skill and sometimes lack there. We all make mistakes but how you own up to them and learn from them is what matters 🍻

My favorite useless error message, "Something went wrong."
I deleted and reinstalled GT7 this morning - Just in case that helps with my game instability at the moment.

Random question. How do you pronounce Autopolis? I always pronounced it aw-TOP-po-lease as in Metropolis but recently I watched some YTers pronounce it Auto-Polis as in two distinct separate words.

Have I been saying it wrong all this time?

When I use auto drive or people in my lobbies do it definitely doesn't ghost. Just hazards flashing and becomes a rolling road block 🤣

The most correct way of saying it (for Western mouths) would be Or-Topple-Iss; the circuit's name is spelled Ōtoporisu in katakana (for words borrowed from other languages) which would roughly correspond to the sounds Or (long O) Toh (short To sound, like the "Tok" of "TikTok") Poh (short Po sound, like the "Po" of "poppy") Ris, with the final "u" silent.

Separated "Auto" (as in "automatic"), "Polis" (like the suffix of "metropolis" which comes from the Latin root meaning "citizens"; there's a similar path for "police" and "politician") is just wrong.

Maybe this happened after some recent update?
I was sure that ghosting on auto drive was a thing but I could be wrong.

Metropolis > oar top o lis

Edit:

Man I hate Wednesdays, it seems the once or twice a week peeps come out. Think that the first corner wins the race. Cause carnage and then disappear for another week.

Race craft is mostly about restraint and learning how to be faster not the fastest in to the corner.

Most if not all is just thinking the fast way is to brake as late as possible on the tightest line and accelerate as hard as possible.

Those are not the fastest lines grrrr especially at Suzuka where compromising one line is much much faster for the straight or subsequent corners grrrr

Mini Glen rant over.

ah-TOP-o-lis, as in Metropolis for automobiles (sort-of, anyway). If Sean Connery can mispronounce "adversary" with a Scottish accent while playing a Russian (actually, Lithuanian) sub captain, then I, well, actually I guess that's not relevant. Whatever. ah-TOP-o-lis.

But Autopolis actually translates into "how many times can you get a 5 second penalty for crashing into someone when it's totally not your fault?" I'm beginning to hate this race.

My fastest laps at Suzuka often feel the slowest. Usually I am at 50-75% throttle fluctuating it through the esses, keeping it smooth with little wheel squeal and it feels like I'm losing a ton of time, only to discover it was blindingly fast but in a smooth controlled way.

Conversely, tire squeals, hard braking, lots of acceleration usually results in ho-hum times. Those are usually accompanied by lots of wheel wriggling, feeling like you're on the edge and about to lose it and high heart rate!

The TLDR version: slow and smooth for the win!

Sounds boring. Not that I've ever experienced it, mind you.

Leave a bigger gap if you are that much quicker? Qualify better? Appreciate the other persons fuel strategy is different to yours? Hit the brakes as hard as you can?

There are a lot of ways to avoid getting multiple penalties.
