Greetings to all. I’ve lurked this forum for a long time and have thoroughly enjoyed the content and have learned a great deal from you guys and I always enjoy the videos. Would like to ask for some advice on switching from controller to a wheel if anyone could offer any. I’ve been using a controller and automatic trans forever and I’m really wanting to make the switch to manual and a wheel. Yesterday during race B after winding up side by side with another car coming out of that first nasty turn, I could literally see the guys car rocking as he changed gears as he just pulled away from me. So I was like, ok, I gotta do this.
I’ve acquired a Logitech G29 and some pedals but find I’m much worse this way, lol.

Just getting the hang of the manual trans while focusing on braking points is hard enough it seems, but using the manual brake pedal and then the amount of time it takes to turn the wheel in a 90 turn or worse is a bit overwhelming. I’m sure some of you made this transition and was just wondering if you could offer any advice.
Like maybe I just need to pick a “basic” track and just churn out a 100 laps or so?

I’m open to any advice, lol.

Oh and if anyone has setup suggestions for the 458 on race B I’d love to hear it. I managed a 1.33.9 in the 458 after finding the best I could do in the Mazda was a 1.34.3.
Go to an oval first , take it step by step.
I'm back on controler , but when i change something i go for easy race first and go step by step.
You will get use quite fast to the wheel.
Once you managed sterring and brake on foot , then work on manual transmission.
Step by step or you will be discourage .

Didn’t expect that 😂 I’m not sure but maybe manipulating the torque (differential in German)? made some difference…😂👍

And back to DR B and SR S on THAT track 😂👍 💪

Oh and not to forget… in the NSX, mostly I’m unique on the track 😂

This has been a massively frustrating evening! So I got very close to my Main account time and set a 1:32:wxx on B account and decide to do 3 races.

Race 1 - Start on pole, taken out ON THE STRAIGHT by an obvious swipe! I could not have given more space without leaving the track and this was half-way through the straight, not even in the entry or exit. Down to 9th, finished 4th.

Race 2 - Start P2 and was doing well, keeping within a second of the Mazda in front and both us cleared the rest of the field. He makes a mistake at the downhill chicane at the end of lap 5. Instead of going for the overtake, since it was risky, I CHOSE TO SLOW DOWN to not make contact and remain as is. How do I get thanked, you ask? He purposefully slams on the brakes as we EXIT onto the main straight and I get damage and sent into the grass! Finish P4 again.

Final race - I start in P2 again behind someone who either paid another driver to set a lap time or else has no idea how to race, just set times alone. He was SLOW as you cannot believe, having to brake hard so many times to avoid contact. Of course, this gave everyone else the chance to catch us and they sure made the most of it!

I think I got shoved wide, punted and rammed 3 times a lap and was down to P8 at some point. The worse offender was in front of me lap 5 (I was back up to P4 at this point) and I know I should have stayed put, but he was slow on the exit before the final tunnel and I was so frustrated I went for the pass. Of course I am once more pushed wide, into the barrier and with damage. Back down the ladder I go. Finish in P7...

Here is the replay of the last race, for your entertainment...

On a more positive note, I hopped back into main, and drove angry in some practice laps. It paid off 😂

Ugh, this is why VR players need a leaderboard on the HUD. Just had a daily C where I was cruising in the top 3. We dropped the pack pretty quickly but unbeknownst to me, P6 and below went in for their mandatory stop early. Being the only non-meta out there in my 458, I began defending 3rd place in a Genesis hard for 3 laps. He finally got by me just before the end of lap 8, and I followed him into the pits at the end of 9. When we exited, a train of cars passed both of us in the T1 braking zone - no doubt, they had all made up time on us while I was defending for my life. Had I known that they all had ducked into the pits early, I wouldn’t have defended as hard, losing all that time.

I think the Genesis is in need of another nerf, or the Ferrari is in need of a slight buff. I’m getting dropped while in the slip, NO MATTER which car I’m behind.

Getting frankly so annoyed in Race B. Now granted my lap time is a 1.35.0 and driving rating D but literally every single race I’m getting punted and sideswiped with no penalty for the other car.

Made me lose out on my first win since coming back to the game and made me want to quit all over again.

Is anyone else struggling to survive lap1 at the Nurb GP? Had a few good races earlier in the week, but last night and this morning got repeatedly taken out! You’d think B/S drivers would know that you can’t win a 10 lap race on lap 1?

When there's 'only' 10 laps, it must be done NOW. L1/T1/P1 FTW.🤣

Seriously though, I think society as a whole is struggling with the long game. I attribute a bulk of our current challenges to that alone. I don't think most people can comprehend anything beyond the current 24 hours they're trying to survive.

Sorry it sucks out there and certainly doesn't motivate, but, gotta try C. I'm not a huge fan of the GP course, but I hate it less than I do pretty much anything that involves Gr.4's right now. May be a good week to race the friends list, instead. Oh, and karts, gotta try karts at least once.😁

I may be stating the obvious, but make sure you drive with both feet. One on the brake and one on the accelerator. Enjoy your new steering wheel!

Welcome to the wheel world 😂

For me monza is where I started, maybe use that braking area assist as it has lines and you adapt your braking per lap based on what you did the last one. I found monza great because it’s full speed and going straight and corners which are brake/turn/accelerate but not too many of them

And you need to dial in your wheel so be sure to search the web for setup advice, I’m on a fanatec but had to do the same thing, loads of stuff YT

You don’t have to go from assist on to full off straightaway, remember that

Good luck

Was the same for me and now I’m at B again and had some real good races at race B yesterday, was hard but fun.

Slam breaking at the main straight, that’s what I had yesterday too. And no penalty for that🤷🏻‍♂️

My race b is also improving, managed a win today against a Mazda, guys this Subaru needs to be tried , through the corners it’s beating the Mazda and as long as you can get 7 tenths away you can stay there! Still abit punty but I don’t think ppl are deliberately doing it it’s just a crazy bunch of corners! I managed to get a 1.32.8 too which came out of nowhere! I’m sticking with it 🤣

Yes but it’s lap 1 in race B 😂 especially the first turn 😵‍💫😂

Happy as i improved my QT again to 1.33.421.
I might be able to get under 1.33 as i know where i can gain time and how. So now have to do it 😂✌️.
Happy also because i improved my time by finding myself where i can gain and how , using my strength and weakness instead trying to copy a replay.
Also as i now be under 1.34 easily , and it pay in race as now managed to be under 1.34.

For this one i just drive smart and accept pusher to pass and they did care of each other , while i just drive the best i could avoiding all contact.
So you know as usual back to dr B 🤣🤣

And fun fact a dive bomber managed to get me 12.5 sec penalty at once 😂😂,
he came so hard game considered i put two car offtrack and also gave me 2.5 sec for being offtrack 🤣🤣🤣 and a car full red engine also Oo and i pass the time Lost to go reverse and back on track 🤣🤣
Prefer to laugh about it😉✌️

I tried some QT last night. Realized that I really don’t like Deep Forest in reverse and NR GP I don’t care for either.

I haven’t looked at the karts yet.

I’m beginning to think I like time-trialing more…
Try doing the cart race. I had fun with it as something different, way different, from the other boring races. Although once I got used to the cart I couldn’t drive a regular car at all until after about thirty laps of quali.
I've noticed previously that a late improvement in a qualifying lap won't show up for the race immediately following, but will be there for the next one.
I’ve had that happen before too. It’s such a bummer when you know you’ve set a great time and you’ll finally be placed ahead of that idiot who is right behind you every race and keeps dive bombimg you, only to enter the next race with said idiot still right behind you!
he got 4 sec penalty and me a destroyed car and losing about 7 places or so (from 5 to 12 or 13) 🫠
This is the sort of garbage that got me to quit a year ago. I can’t believe they haven’t found a way to improve things by now. It’s very frustrating!
I switched to the Ferrari. I refuse to drive the Mazda. It should be delete from the game, or at least from sports mode. I managed a 1:32.6 but I feel like I should be able to drive a 32.3 or 32.2 with it. Meanwhile I am losing SR in every race. I am not touching anyone, apart from the fact that I am now a low SR B driver and get pounded a lot. Those people don't give a F. Not sure what is going on though. I think I had two 0.5 penalties today because of track limits. Nothing more. Positive side effect is that I would be back to DR A but since it can't get higher than your SR I am staying at DR B.
Try doing race A from the back a bunch of times to repair your SR without losing any DR. It’s an easy fix.

Now if only I could find a quick fix for my DR . . .

It's great to feel the glory from getting a win, isn't it? I'm trying to get my QT down to somewhere inbetween 1'32.000 and 1'33.000. It's hard! It would so be nice if I could fix my DR from a low D to a mid B.

Yeah, I need to change something. I am not able to get out of the mess. Every race is just banging doors and getting hit in the back, being forced wide etc. Those lower SR groups are a nightmare. Either I need to just hang back and finish a few races like that or, like you said, drive a few races in race A.

One thing I found out though. Your DR can be higher than your SR. I've heard somewhere it can not. That is not true.

Had same problem, but i stick racing in lowering SR lobby, and i think that help to learned how to avoid those particular driver.
It feel great when you sée them crash in the wall they want to push you because you managed to escape 😂😂😂

I do not like tuning as I have limited time to adjust settings and run enough laps to prove them out.
In Daily B QT I've been using the NSX and 458 running in the low 1.33s and not improving so resigned to trying the Mazda which I dislike/can't drive.
I used @Tidgney tune and still in the low 1.33s.

OK let's go left field and put the same Mazda tune on the NSX

Wow straight into the 1.32s, five laps later 1.32.3**
F/F tune into a MR car how does that work? Well it did for me, just have to try it in a race and get crushed by the Mazdas.

Is there tuning in race b? I hadn’t realised, only been racing with +2 BB in the Subaru WRX. Something weird happened today though, got what i thought was a too easy win, leaving a Mazda behind by 8 tenths off the hair pin, I think 4wd got something more than those ff uphill off the hairpin!
Yes the same tuning allowed in B & C

Work with the front LSD, short shift. Exit in 3rd where 1st or 2nd seems normal. Remember it's a powerful FWD car so power when you are straight or straightening up. Everything else is just lost momentum.

Don't be afraid to let the car coast to bite in a bit at the front.

You don't need set ups to win this race or compete just understand the car and the way it works a bit more.

Edit:

This is not a week for me for loads of factors. Firstly I don't get on with the track/meta combos in this configuration and pseudo strat for C

Secondly I don't have the time I have recently been putting in grinding these things

Thirdly and this pure personal preference they just aren't my races and that's ok. I threw my toys out the pram saying I wasn't gonna race for a bit (months-lie) but this week the motivation really isn't there for me. But I reiterate that is OK for me.
Want something else to do?

Finally. 1:54 (barely) in the McLaren in Daily Race C @ Nurburgring! Setup shared below.

Still 2s off the top time but at least I should be gridded at top half of A lobbies.

IMG-8005.jpg

That’s a great time. Useful watching your lap.

What about the handling were you trying to alter with the setup? And what did you change?

I tried softening the front and stiffening the rear on the RSR to get more rotation, but it didn’t feel better so I reverted to the default setup.

I'm back from the dead, but I don't know if I'll race today. If I start a coughing fit during a race, it won't be pretty.

I was just watching one of @Tidgney's videos on the Mazda, and he showed something I'd never heard about before. Someone flashed their brights at him, and Tidgney said that was a sign the guy wanted to give him a bump draft. Can anyone explain this further? As I said, I've never heard of it before. (I paused his video to post this, so if he explains it later on, I'll come back and edit this.)
