Urrrh! After throwing me down a rank after 2 disconnects during the GTWS yesterday I can't do anything about it on the dailies as this stupid error is stopping me racing. GT is really screwing me over this week!

Three Monza races today. Race 1 and race 2 resulted in me P6 and P4 respectively, so in race 3 I was expecting P2. Started in P8, and had a bit of luck so advanced up to P6 at the end of lap 1. Two positions per lap should have me in P1 by the end of lap 4, but then I didn't think of GT7 penalty system.

At the second chicane, the one before Lesmo, P4 and P5 fights away, and after some contact them between, they both visit the gravel traps. Me, just following from a safe distance, see my opportunity and takes P4. Yes, sneaky, but what should I do? Wait? Nope.

Then it happens: A few seconds after taking P4, I get 5 second penalty for forcing another car of the track! In no way was I closer than a meter to any of the cars!

Happy to share the clip here if you would want to have a look.

Anyone else had this happening to them?

(I finished P13, so DR back to where I started)

EDIT

I couldn't figure out how to upload here, but I shared the replay in showcase in case anyone want to take a look. Search tag skandiamannen. The action starts at 3 minutes.

Didn't get a chance to go look yet, but, this happened to me before. It was one of those weird 'glitch slams' so I never experienced anything yet somehow managed to punt another driver off-course. Sucks, and it's rare, but I'm pretty sure I've seen others complain of this, too.

Tough one to 'believably' explain away in the post race chat.🤣

It's lag, that's all it is. The servers have been patchy since yesterday.

At your pace and lobbies I don't think you are banging in to each other in braking zones other than occasionally.

I can't finish any of the A races because when I get close to the finish I see that same error message where the internet connection cuts off. And then I lose my progress. PD has ruined this weeks races. I seldomly get a kick and thrill out of the Monza races but that's pretty much it.

When are they gonna fix the servers, (if that's the issue)?

I've been away from GT7 for a few weeks as I've been consumed in a work project that took every waking hour. I'm exhausted....

What did I miss?
Glad to have you back - I noticed your Q time on our leaderboard, and I smiled because you were back.
I think my driving is going to suck for a bit so I may just tank my A rating back to B so I can do okay in a race again.
My experience has been great in B lobbies (mostly) until I get moved up to A, and then I end up crashing and burning back down to B. Two times now, this week.

Amazing time mate! Proper fast that one!

On a related note, how has the actual racing been? Is it as brutal as my experience so far or have you had better luck?
30% suicide 60% run away from the front 10% ugly/Monza sprint.

Probably a bit tight first lap in mid pack and possibly thirsty if things are close but largely it's ok. I just throw lots of races away hence being B

The Lesmo corners can pack a punch in your time if you go too fast and miss the corner exits. The left-right-left section after the tunnel requires concentration and focus also. I've learned from experience, never drive while being drowsy.

f you've done it enough times that you've got it down to muscle memory, you can drive drunk as hell. 🍺
..... so I've heard.
I haven't done that, but there've been times where I was so zoned out I didn't even realize I had crushed my previous fastest time. I just kept driving laps, and suddenly I realise a couple of them were awesome. Those are the times I usually can't duplicate.

I've been in the game for so long that I know tons of the players, and I can tell you that a surprising number of the drivers around you are loaded on something.

I tried to drive tonight, and I’m totally wasted. I feel completely unable to put a competitive lap in for anything. It probably won’t be till next week until I’m back into it properly. I need to recover from working three weeks of 16 hour days.

That said, I’m going to open a beer and then I won’t care about it. 😬

It's a fine line, a few beers or a couple of wines (bottle) and I'm fine....smoother and faster....for a few races.

Then it becomes diminishing returns so I stop ;) 🍷

Shoot, when it comes to competitive racing, 2 drinks seems to be my Mason-Dixon line. Really 1.5 if I’m being honest. Anymore than that and my reaction times are hindered

Funny that there’s talk of drinking and driving - had two pints tonight and then raced at Monza and was even slower than my already slow sober self!

This was not helped by one of those crazy glitches where cars were speeding up, ghosting, then driving through each other, leaving me off track with a penalty! And at the end of the race my SR was down by a full letter! Bizarre.

Tunnel?

Well 1.5 is around the legal limit here so makes sense.

Next week...

I am guessing Gr4 at GV and Gr3 at Spa. But, Spa sometimes hosts Gr2 so we'll see. I love GV so I am not upset to see it in the rotation as much as it has been lately, and would prefer Gr3, but Gr4 works well there too.

Agreed. Just two...

Ugh, we'll be dealing with GV-Highway. The long track is worse than the South version. I hope one of my controllers just didn't die. I keep pressing the PS button and it keeps flashing for a few seconds and then it will turn off. Ugh, I'm gonna have to buy a new ps4 one.

So, what's everyone's plan for this weekend with the daily races?
